Judah Dashiell
Salvage Empire
Lianna | Outer Rim Corporate Authority Gala | Vyri
The soft tinkling of silverware and wine glasses were a low thrum throughout the expansive ballroom. It was a backdrop to the murmuring of voices and high pitched laughter that often punctuated various conversations occurring in the room. It was a place where movers and shakers went to be seen, an event various companies large and small tried to attend for the sheer exposure and chance to make deals out on the dance floor.
Judah adjusted his bowtie and glanced at the time. Still at least an hour and a half to go before he could make a graceful exit. Such events were a thorn in his side. One could consider them a necessary evil in the business world. For smaller companies he could completely agree. For larger ones such as his own it seemed to be less useful unless one wanted to brag, trick some small company into being absorbed, or show off the latest trophy spouse.
He had no time for any of the three options.
That left him with a fourth option : eat as much free food as possible. Judah had acquired a taste for crab puffs from his ex-wife and tended to seek out the little treats at nearly every Gala that had them. Few came close to her recipe and he was quite convinced it was due to the lack of knowledge from non-aquatic chefs, not that it couldn't be learned. Judah knew it was quite simple but many of these large city-wide planets had residents who had never seen a tree, much less an ocean.
Holding his little plate of crab puffs off to one side he was eagerly counting down the minutes to the end of his current nightmare. Only one hour and twenty minutes to go. Progress.
