Description: As war continues to ravage the galaxy, the One Sith continue to face various enemies on various fronts. Having had recent success with his "Iron War" Project being able to create a variety of products for the One Sith, Krayzen Dratos decided that he should also focus on naval weapons in order to increase the variety of weapons the OS has available.

Before one can examine the weapon, one needs to understand what Turbolasers are. A turbolaser is a heavy laser canon that has large banks of capacitors. It works the same way as a blaster/laser, and similar to a particle beam weapon in the case that a particle beam was generated. What makes it different from a blaster weapon however is that energized via Tibanna gas, with the capacitors also further energizing the particle beam.

Taking into inspiration another design, the RSD Defense Weapon, the Anzat made sure that this weapon also featured large energization crystals to boost the power of the beam, making it even more dangerous. After also looking at some designs,, it features agrocite something that also increases the weapon's damage output.

The weapon sacrifices rate of fire, for a longer range, and heavier firepower. It is classified as a “Heavy Long Range Turbolaser.” and it features redundant energy capacitors to be able to increase the damage of the particle beam. This makes it less ideal at close range, and somewhat effective at medium range. It also requires a large power draw.

In order to make sure that the turbolaser does not overheat, it features a liquid hydrogen coolant system with ostrine coils, as well as dallorian alloy. This tubolaser is therefore ideal for any OS capital ship.

Rate of Fire: 2x that of standard turbolaser
Heavy turbolsers generally have a slower rate of fire than a standard turbo laser
Long range turbolasers generally have a slower rate of fire than standard turbolasers
For this to have 2x standard turbolaser rate of fire it would substantially increase the weapon value on the exchange chart.

Also
Long Range Turbolasers are 2x firepower 4x weapon count. The add the Heavy Modifier your looking at a weapon that is basically 4x firepower 8x weapon count. IF you add 2x rate of fire that would make this a 16x weapon

so it would cost the same as 16 turbolasers for exchange. That would give it 2x the rate of fire for a heavy long range turbolaser. TO get 2x standard turbolaser rate of fire, Long range, and heavy modifiers, you would be looking at like 20x turbolaser exchange.

I suggest making the rate of fire 2x heavy long range turbolaser. that puts it at 16x turbolaser exchange.

this will give you an idea of weapon consolidation. This is standard rate of fire but does more damage and is 3x heavy long range turbolaser. It works out to turbolaser x 2 for heavy x 4 for long range x 3 for power so its 24 turbolaser per the new exchange. The old exchange counted LR as x5. It's x4 now :)

the weapon is fine it just needs to be tweeked to work out how much it is worth when exchanging it.

Edited to make it 2x the power of a heavy long range turbolaser; also added some stuff after looking at Wookie. It has agrocite fuel, and taking into inspiration another design, it has energization crystals. I'm thinking this can make it the equivalent of 20 turbolasers?

So a Long Range Turbolaser is 4 turbolasers, A heavy Long Range Turbolaser is 8 turbolasers. This would be 16 turbolasers :)
funny thing, I had a conversation last night about making a weapon exactly like this lol. A rapid fire Heavy Turbolaser more to the point. Mine will not be Long Range. anyway thought that was funny.

SO just make a note in the description that this is equal to 16 turbolaser cannons for weapon exchange. Then it will be good to go :)

I'm also working on something to build up this sub. [member="Reshmar"]

Either way, why can't it be 20 turbolasers? I would like the weapon to be roughly the equivalent of 20 turbolasers, considering that there are a variety of submissions that each value more than a standard turbolaser.

[member="Krayzen Dratos"] sure it can be 20, I was just stating it had to be at least 16 since it as heavy and long ranged and rapid fire.

the way LR works is they are twice as powerful as standard and cost four times as much. So if we sat a turbolaser = 1 fire power a long range = 2 firepower and costs as much as four turbolasers for the long range. What you could do is make this have 1.25 the firepower of a standard Long Range Heavy turbolaser. That would put you at 20.

1 = x1.25 for firepower/ x 2 for heavy/ x 4 for long range/ x 2 double for rate of fire

Easy way is just say 1 cannon is = to 20 turbolasers. The above is a detailed way if you want to use it but not required. Just the statement it is = to 20 will work.

Done; if I were to add it came in dual variants, would I need to reduce anything?
a dual mount would just cost 2 times the weapon so a dual would be equal to 40 turbolasers. IF you need it less you can bring the power of the weapon back down to that of a standard heavy long range weapon and make it 32 for a dual and 16 for a single

Also, is there like a guide to this gun math stuff I keep seeing?
look here then go down the page to the Chaos References tab. open it and at the bottom open the CAPITAL SHIP WEAPONS EXCHANGE CHART. That tells you what each mount type is basically worth for exchanging them for other weapon types.
