OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a heavy primary weapon system for both planetary bombardment and anti-capital ship use
  • Canon Link:
  • Permissions:
  • Primary Source:
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Archangel Manufactorum
  • Affiliation: New Codru Systems Navy
  • Market Status: Closed market
  • Model: AM-Meteor
  • Modularity: Guns and power units are built separately, power unit could be repurposed but gun require the specific frequencies of their bespoke generator
  • Production: Mass produced
  • Material:
    • Electrical compnents
    • durasteel
    • Phrik lined energy containment shield
    • Isotope-5
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Particle cannon - closest analogue would be upscaled turbolaser
  • Size: Extremely large
    • The external working of the guns are around 110m long, the powerful guns also require significant internal structure so the guns are generally limited to hulls larger than 750m
  • Weight: Extemely Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: super dense, highly focused and energised ball of particles
  • Ammunition Capacity: Large
    • While a working starship reactor can power the weapon indefinitely, after around 60 shots the energy regulators need a few minutes offline to repolarise
  • Effective Range: Extreme
  • Rate of Fire: Low
    • Approximately 10 seconds between shots
  • Damage Output: Extreme
  • Recoil: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Isotope-5 focussing systems, this helps amplify the input power, increasing the weapon yield over what could normally be acheived, while being a more readily available alternative to Kyber crystal
STRENGTHS
  • Extremely powerful weapon - capable of doing significant damage to shields and massive damage to unshielded targets.
  • Flexible - the weapon was designed for orbital bombardment but is also very effective in an anti-capital ship capacity.
WEAKNESSES

  • Imprescise bombardment - the weapon is not meant for precision strikes, and whilst it can be targeted to withing a few dozen metres (which is often close enough due its destructive force), there is a real risk of collateral or friendly damaged if used in a dense battlefield.
  • Difficult to target smaller ships - verging on impossible for anything corvette or smaller

DESCRIPTION
This Meteor was intended as a flagship weapons project by Archangel Manufactorum and it met all expectations.

The weapons uses powerful energy fields to focus matter into a super dense ball of ionised particle, as it fires, a near invisible beam forms between the gun and the target, this acts as an ionic corridor, keeping the unstable projectile intact until it hits the target, instantly releasing enormous amounts of energy.

The projectile moves as a ball of light leaving a trail of glowing space behind it as its energy causes reactions in the surrounding space, this is it got is name as it looks like a meteor streaking toward the target.

Improving the power output is one thing having a mass produced cannon with power similar to a superweapon is a no. This will need to be reworded as Final Order style destroyers haven't been allowed in the factory yet.

Thats fair enough, it isnt meant to be super weapon power, closer to the power of the autocannon on the fulminatrix, scary to ground and ship targets but not world cracking.

I actually had a similar chat in the discord as I wasn't sure exactly where the line lay. Do you have any specific recommendations for changes I can make to fix this?

I have reworded it as such, describing it as a focuser (removed generation), changed the description to remove reference to super weapon and changed the phrase catastrophic damage to massive damage as it sounded a bit let destructive, even though they are both totally abstract haha.
