DESCRIPTION

From a cultural standpoint, most Merzoidians tend to embrace pacifism, as they had few enemies to fight during their long history of self imposed isolation from the galaxy. That being said, it was not as if blaster and weapons technology were unknown to the Merzod People. Instead, most Merzoidians tended to see blasters as just another medium to express their creativity and artistic ability, which can be seen in the craftsmanship of their blaster pistols.

Unlike Mahporeem blasters, Merzoidian Blaster Pistols are deliberately designed to be as expensive and time consuming to produce as possible, owing to the Merzoidian's liberal use of precious metals and materials in their construction. Merzoidian Blaster Pistols are richly inlayed with metals such as silver, gold and malachite, and are hand crafted to the highest standards of quality by the artisans who create them. Besides being an indisputable work of art, Merzoidian Blaster Pistols are fully functioning weapons, though this is of secondary importance to their creators.

During the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War, the art of making these blaster pistols was nearly lost, though it experienced something of a revitalization after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Even today, a small but notable Merzoidian blaster industry continues to exist on Mahporeem, though only the wealthiest and most important clients can afford to purchase such expensive weapons. A single Merzoidian Blaster Pistol can go for thousands, if not tens of thousands, of Imperial Credits, and each blaster is custom made to the specifications of those who can afford to purchase them.
