CORPORATION INFORMATION
  • Corporation Name: Mereel Ice Works.
  • Headquarters: Naboo
  • Locations:
    • Mandalore - The Mandalore Aquatic Advisory Board is based here, though they work on weather/ocean development on several worlds.
    • Mnemosyne - The Bryn’adul Restoration Services, specializing in cleansing and stabilizing atmospheres, works primarily out of this hidden gem.
    • Breshig - The Planetary Bombardment Recovery Unit, which specializes in ordinance removal and restoring geography is based here.
    • Ithor - The Ecology Restoration Project is primarily responsible for putting an entire biome back together. Everything from re-seeding an entire climate zone from other areas upon the same planet, to rips into the Nether to regain animals/plants/soil/atmosphere otherwise lost to time.
    • Kestri - The Ssi-Ruuk Survivors Support team is the oldest division in terms of work done, first put together long before Jhira broke MIW off from her merchant marine efforts. They deal with larger issues, restarting a core, correcting gravitational issues, and balancing electro magnetic shields around worlds.
    • It had been proposed to move the SSS or new start to Vylmira, but the dissolution of the CIS ended that.
  • Operations:
    • Mereel Ice Works is focused upon bringing worlds to life once more. It is comprised of several different divisions, that focus upon each stage of restoration. Wherever possible, deployed personnel travel in company owned ships, properly outfitted for the task at hand. When at work, they often live in deployed outpost-ships that double as city and barracks. This allows for independence, an ability to retreat or move at will, and a sudden armed presence if marauders or pirates happen by.
    • Research: The New Start program is the experimental science division, looking for ways to create or move asteroids, moons or pseudo planets into optimal alignment, orbit … or perhaps, someday, around a new star.
  • Parent Corporation: N/A
  • Subsidiaries: N/A
DESCRIPTION
It started as a small thing; a large crater where a farm used to be. Clever use of military-grade pressor beams to smooth out the edges. Tractor beams to remove radioactive debris, and shuttles to reclaim what could be salvaged and launch the rest into the nearest sun. Then some fancy shield work, scooping up topsoil from a near-by flood basin to fill in the hole in the ground. A simple thing, that first adaptation of military hardware to other uses. It became addicting, the repair of war-torn farms and weary, battered planets. Fixing a landing strip, or removing toxic waste from a small world with no larger ships of its own.

Mereel Ice Works grew from there; adapting, evolving to meet each specific challenge. Unofficial, just billed as ‘specialty work’ by the crew of the Echoy’la Sun. Innovative new technologies and the pressing need to offer small scale, immediate assistance to the worlds they were delivering to, or picking up cargo from slowly led to the divisions of the company, and the need to hire folks to manage and organize each projects. Organized around the Mandalorian style of leadership and independence, any given project was handed off to person most able to handle it, rather than by rank or pay grade.

During the first stages of restoring Mandalore, Jhira Mereel discovered people who shard her passions, and held both the skill, the funds and the facilities to see some of the her tech fully realized. Mereel Ice Works was thus born.

While MIW deals honestly and directly with the challenges facing each world, the necessary good of the planet and ecology comes first. This can cause some friction if the employers don’t understand systems thinking or fail to actually read the contract. If someone breaks faith with them, they don’t hire lawyers and debt collectors to solve the problem, but deal with it themselves. Employees are well treated, carefully recruited specialists and idealists, working on groundbreaking technology to restore quality of life on a fundamental level. Whenever possible, Jhira’s long term employees are Mandalorians, or those whose own homes have been damaged or destroyed by the constant galactic warfare. The company’s policy is to hire locals for many parts of a job, both so that the MIW gets a full picture of the needs of the area, and so that the locals know what went into fixing the problem, and have the best understanding of how to maintain the improvements desired.

A slow-growth company, many of the places she restores take a very long time to heal, let alone to become a viable farm or fishing lake once more. Her revenue stream has grown very very slowly, but steadily. The devastated locals rarely have credits to spare. But Jhira is a Mandalorian through and through, and prefers barter to straight credits. Thus MIW often accepts trade in goods, services, land, and land-rights instead of credits up front. Paired with the strategy of immediately providing food to the locals, MIW is usually quite popular with the indigenous populations of thee worlds they assist.

Mereel Ice Works offers unique and heavily discounted services to Mandalorian factions and individuals.

RATIONALE
Jhira Mereel simply organized the work as independent jobs until faced with the devastation of Mandalore, a Plasma Lash, and her kinswoman [ @Loreena Areanis-Valhoun ]. With her aid and inspiration from the great Mandalorian companies, Mereel Ice Works came into being. Their first major job was to harness, move and safely deliver sufficient asteroid ice to restore the oceans, lakes and rivers to Mandalore. Thanks to the invaluable assistance in reorganizing and Jhira’s habit of taking land as payment, Mereel Ice Works now has small branches upon several worlds.
