Mending the wounds

Nala sat on a bench on one of the night levels of the Jedi Temple in Courascant. She'd been sitting there for the force only knows how long, simply looking out to the rest of the planet. She'd barley eaten. No real rest the previous night. She hadn't been the same since her return from her home planet, after everything that had happened. The look on her face was a mix of loss, anger, sorrow. So many emotions rushing through her. This was not the same padawan many knew, she'd changed too much for them to fully recognize. In her hand she held a lightsaber. Not her previous one. A new one. She looked down at it, examining it. Then she tightened it in her grip. Nala looked back out to Courascant, wishing that she could have what she wanted: revenge.

Gherron had just woken up from a nap, and had been wandering around the temple for the last ten minutes. All he'd been thinking about recently was Nala, the Kaminoan who he had spent a day with only a month ago. Though they hadn't acted on it, there was an obvious connection between the two. She seemed to like him, and he definitely liked her. Smiling to himself, he walked into th main hallway when he noticed her sitting down, clutching a lightsaber. He almost rushed up and hugged her, but he felt a strange aura emanating from her. A much darker one than the last time they had seen each other. What had happened to her? Cautiously, he walked up to the girl, his voice soft. "Nala? Are you okay?"

Nala perked up when she heard his voice. It had been a month and yet she barley recalled, but she remembered that day she spent with him. She turned her head to see him there and said "Gherron. Hello. I was just.... thinking to myself is all." She turned her head back around while looking back to her saber, now fiddling in her hands. "How are you?" she asked, almost out of instinct as to actually asking how he was.

"I'm fine..." He walked over and sat next to Nala, hugging her softly. "I'm more worried about you though. I can tell that something's wrong... What is it?" He searched her eyes, looking for anything, anything at all as a clue. Whatever was going on, he wanted to help her howeve he could.

Nala looked at him, her eyes both intense and yet dulled. It was if she was trying to find the right answer to give and yet had no idea what to say. She wanted to tell him but she couldn't bear the strength, not yet. Instead she held her new saber in front of her and ignited it. Originally her saber was blue, signifying her tactics as a Jedi and that she was better at sword combat than anything else. This new one, however, erupted with a purple light. This signified that her technique had changed, that now her tactics involved brute strength in a fight and the use of both dark and light skills in battle. Still a Jedi but not as gentle as she used to be. "What do you think?" she asked him.

(OOC: I actually looked up the color meanings in sabers. Wanted to add it into this as part of showing how shes changed. That way you don't think I'm pulling the meaning out of my ass lol)

(OOC: I know lol. Blue-guardian Green-sage Yellow-Sentinel (Three main classes of the original ancient jedi) Then Mace had a purple blade and was a vaapad master; the form tha was dangerously close to the dark side)

Gherron stared at the beauty of the purple blade, as he racked his mind full of facts about what it meant. He then nodded and understood. If she was following code, then she would likely use stronger attacks, those usually not meant for Jedi. He went almost as pale as his own blade. Pulling his weapon out, he showed it to her as she did with hers. The pale blue shone brightly through the closed metal. "Nala... What happened on your trip that I should know about?"

When he asked Nala turned her saber off. She looked down for a moment and gripped her saber before looking up, towards the rest of the planet beyond. "My father....was murdered in front of me. By a Sith...who thought he knew the location of holocrons." Her mouth had contorted at moment, she holding back the need to burst into tears. She hated reminding herself of it, but needed to speak about it helped in it's own way. Instead she gripped the saber again to keep herself calm.

Gherron saw his friend gripping the saber again after recounting what had happened. Sadness in his voice, he said to her softly "I'm so sorry..." As gently as he could, he pried the weapon from her fist, laid it on the bench, and took her hands in his, even rubbing them softly. "Whatever happens, I'm here for you, okay?"

"I know you are." she said. "But it doesn't matter." Nala took her hand away from his as she stood and walked towards the railing of the deck where they were. "That Sith. He took everything from me. My father is gone. My mother died when I was young. Master Syn tried to tell me the Jedi were my family now, but does that change anything?" She seemed to have a tone of defeat as she said "I....I'm alone."

Nala was quickly followed by Gherron, who left both of their lightsabers on the bench behind them. Clutching the railing beside her, he looked on into the night sky. "But you're not alone, Nala. I..." He bit his tongue, not being able to say it outright just yet. He wasn't even sure how she would react. Sighing, he looked down, not sure what to say.

She looked at him when he stopped and asked "What? Are you going to try and tell me that the Jedi are family too? I know I should treat them as such and I do. I have friends. Masters. People who I care about. But it's not the same no matter how much I try to think about it. There aren't many others like me, Gherron. Not many Kaminoans who live outside the home world. And certainly not many Jedi ones either. In fact I haven't seen any. Do you understand what I mean by alone now?"

Gherron couldn't stand it any longer. She was in obvious pain, and he had the power to change it. Looking up at her, he stood on his tiptoes and kisses her, their lips connecting for a few seconds. After those precious seconds, he pulled away and looked down quickly, his face steaming red.

Nala was surprised by this, her words muffled when their lips touched. Her eyes were wide the whole time before he finally pulled away. "G-Gherron!" she said, touching her lips for a moment. "Wh-What....why did you...?" She could barley speak after what he did to her.

Still looking down, Gherron's face twisted into a wry look of hate for himself. "Yea, you know what... I knew I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry." Shaking his head, he walked over to grab his lightsaber and began to walk off, murmuring something about how stupid he was.

Seeing him walk off Nala had to stop him. She used the force and took his lightsaber off his belt, bringing it to her hand. After getting his attention she said "Tell me. Have you...always felt that way about me? I want an answer."

@[member="Gherron Vael"]

Gherron felt the pull on his belt, but wasn't quick enough to stop his weapon from floating to her hand. Turning around slightly, he still refused to meet her eyes. "Yes, I have. Can I have my lightsaber back now?" All he wanted to do at this point was hide in his room and sit in silence. If she didn't like him as he thought she did, then... well he would just have to deal with it.

Her eyes were a bit confused when he responded. She looked down at his saber, almost ready to give it back, but still held on and asked "Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you say anything before?" Nala had her feelings for him as well, but she wasn't sure what to do about them. She'd changed since that day. Would Gherron even care about the new her? She wanted to be sure.

Gherron sighed and finally turned to face her fully. "I haven't exactly had the best luck with girls, okay? I was afraid. Are you happy? I was afraid you might reject me like everyone else does." His eyes were red now, the hurt evident in his eyes. He hadn't meant to show this more vulnerable side of himself. He never showed it to anyone-it had just come up. Walking over to her, he took the lightsaber back and turned to go. "I need some time alone." He didn't want to e seen like this in front of her. The sooner he got to his room, the better.

She was surprised by the look in his eyes before he left. Nala watched him walk away, almost wanting to go after him. But she sighed when she remembered him saying he wanted to be alone. How ironic. Here she'd been feeling alone and then came along someone t tell her she wasn't only for him to want to be alone now. She looked over to the bench were her saber lied and sighed as she walked back to it. Instead of picking it up she sat next to it, trying to think of what to do now.
