GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Mendar
  • Demonym: Mendari, Vaydralen
  • Region: Tingle Arm
  • System Name: Mendaro System
  • System Features:
    • There are four planets in the Mendaro Star System, three gas giants and Mendar itself. The three gas giants are located at the outer edges of the systems, while Mendar is located at the very edges of the habitable zone. Each of the gas giants have dozens of moons in their orbit and while the gas giants are far from the star at the center of the system, they are hazardously close to one another. Every dew decades when they draw near each other, the gravitational forces presented throw the moons in their orbit into disarray, and moons often trade planets in these passing's, if not being shredded entirely by the gravitational pull.
    • Two large asteroid fields exist in the Mendaro system, one just beyond the gas giants around the peripheries of the system, and one that fills the void between Mendar and its star. The one at the edge of the system was created by dozens of moons over the millennia being torn apart, while the massive belt in the central part of the system was created by the loss of four terrestrial planets.
    • Orbiting Mendar, where one would usually find a moon, is a massive mechanical construct. Appearing as a giant diamond, the construct hangs in a synchronous orbit over Mendar. Despite its irregular shape, the construct provides a perfect gravitational balance for Mendar, allowing the world to survive. As well, the construct prevents the world from drifting out of its orbit with the sun, resisting the strong gravitational pulls that occur when the three gas giants draw close to one another. The destructive fate of such an event evident by the lost worlds of the system as the star and gas giants pull the planets apart.
  • Location: In the hex below Midvinter, and Southeast of Caerdar
  • Major Imports:
    • Food
    • Heating Equipment
    • Colonists
  • Major Exports:
  • Unexploited Resources:
    • Ice Fields
    • Silver Ore
    • Marble Deposits
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard
  • Climate: Mendar is an ice world, covered in great seas of ice and frozen mountains. The two polar regions are inhospitable due to the extreme cold temperatures, and only the equator of the world. still a frozen wasteland, is within the habitable range.
  • Primary Terrain: Ice fields dominate the surface of Mendar, with ancient frozen forests located in the equator region of the world. Mountains cover vast swaths of the eastern and southern hemisphere, some so high they enter the atmosphere of the planet. There are no other significant terrain types on Mendar besides these, beyond the occasional ice valley created by the mountains.
  • Atmosphere: Type I
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Tar Valon
  • Planetary Features:
    • The construct hanging in orbit above Mendar is by far the most intriguing object in the system. While few of the Vaydralen inhabitants know of its importance, those of more ancient learning would know the construct was a Tho Yor. For reasons unknown, this Tho Yor did not travel to Tython with the rest of its kind, bringing inhabitants from across the galaxy to the world to create the ancient Je'daii Order. Instead, this Tho Yor traveled deep into the Tingle Arm region of the galaxy, depositing its inhabitants onto the frozen world of Mendar. None of these original inhabitants still remain, and the Tho Yor has remained unmoving since those ancient times.
    • Frozen ruins are located within the mountain ranges of the planet, ancient temples and cities built by the original inhabitants of Mendar long since gone. Carved into the icy surfaces of the mountains and valleys of the world, these ancient structures have remained mostly intact for the countless centuries since they were originally built.
    • A single temple, located at the far north of the planet deep in the inhospitable region can be detected by sensors, though no being has been able to make it to this location. Few details are known of it, other than the fact it is a massive location several kilometers in size.
  • Major Locations:
    • Tar Valon: Tar Valon is the capital city of Mendar, built within the ruins of the ancient inhabitants of the world. The city is located within five massive constructs, each one able to hold tens of thousands of individuals across two levels. Massive bridges span the ice valley the city is built on top of, leading to the planets only starport. Almost every inhabitant of the planet is currently located within Tar Valon, as there are few resources available as of yet to expand and make more regions of the planet hospitable. As of recently, the inhabitants of Tar Valon have begun carving massive figures into the ice valley around their city, tall Vaydralen warriors to stand guard over the new city.
    • Great Temple: Located at the far north of the planet, the Great Temple is a massive complex spanning several kilometers both above and below ground. The vast stone construct lays empty, and only the broken and lost bones of its ancient adherents still remain within.
  • Force Nexus (Optional):
Intent: To create a location for exploration and discovery, and to introduce an ancient piece of history for the Vaydralen people to be exposed to.
Nexus Name: Tho Yor of Mendar
  • Nexus Alignment: Neutral
  • Size: Planetary
  • Strength: Strong
  • Accessibility: N/A
  • Effects: The Tho Yor of Mendar exerts its influence on the world to make it habitable, and prevent the world from being torn apart by the great gravitational pulls of the system. It drifts across the world in a regular pattern, settling great earthquakes before they can being, or calming blizzards before they can grow too powerful. When it hangs in stationary orbit above Caerdar'Mer, it gives off a warming effect, and while no physical difference can be seen, every inhabitant of the city is able to ignore the cold as if it was not present. Over time, the Tho Yor has also begun to expose the Vaydralen people present on the planet to the Force, beginning the slow and tortuous process of making the species more force sensitive.
POPULATION
  • Native Species: N/A
  • Immigrated Species: Vaydralen
  • Population: Moderate, Tens of Thousands
  • Demographics:
  • Primary Languages: Vaydralen, Draelvasier
  • Culture:
    • Daily life on Mendar begins early, with many families upon an hour before the sun rises over the ice fields of the world. Breakfast is held at a Clan level every morning, with hundreds if not thousands of families coming together to feast and enjoy each others company. The meal is ended by the Clan Leader, who announces that it is the beginning of the day. It is during this morning feasting time that any important information is delivered to the Clan.
    • Following the feasting, the militia forces of each Clan assemble and march from their homes, greeted and cheered on by their families as the warriors march to the training fields. This tradition echoes back to ancient Vaydralen culture, when soldiers would often march to war every single day against enemies rallied outside their homes. Even now, when these warriors only march to the joint training fields of the Clans, the tradition endures.
    • Once the warriors have been sent on their way, the various other professions go about beginning their day. Blacksmiths, artisans, couriers and dozens of other professions go about their daily tasks, stopping twice during the day for a brief meal and a time for internal reflection. These specific breaks have no set start and end time, and are often carried out upon the individual whims of the Vaydralen.
    • Those children too young to enter the military or workforce attend a standard educational school. Here, they are taught the basics of math, science, and the venerated history of the Vaydralen people. By the time a Vaydralen child is six years old, they are able to recite entire family trees going back a dozen generations, and know the tales and names of their Clans heroes by heart. These classes are broken up by physical activates, often combat oriented sports.
      • The most popular sport among the Vaydralen people is known to them as Olve'nagol. To the rest of the galaxy, it would translate closely to Echo War. Echo War is played in almost complete darkness, with two teams of six players each facing off against one another. The field is two inclined slopes with platforms on top of each, and one in the middle of the valley. Each side is equipped with javelin like sticks, though instead of weapon heads they are replaced with paint filled balloons. The game begins with both teams forced to make a decision, throw their javelins at the other side in the darkness, or wait for the other side to make noise first. The superior Vaydralen sense of hearing allows them to zero in on the slightest of sounds, making the players rely on this instinct over sight. In the center platform below both inclines are extra javelins, giving whichever side claims them an ammunition advantage. To get there though creates sound, opening up the moving player to enemy fire. This goes on until either one team is completely eliminated, or an hour has passed.
    • The end of the day is heralded by the return of the warriors from the training fields, though their is no fanfare for their return. Instead, all Vaydralen, warriors and civilian alike, return to their Clan halls for another feast. This feast is more somber than the morning one, with individuals speaking of their accomplishments, or the accomplishments of others that day. The warriors especially are given high focus here, and the glories they have won in the training fields are cheered by the Clan for the honor they might one day bring.
    • The ending of the feast sees many individuals return to their homes, though a few make another stop on the way. The Great Mausoleums beneath each Clan home, the Akra, hold the honored dead of the Clans. here, warriors and civilians alike come to contemplate their places in life, and think on the honors and glories won by those who have come before. There are many meditation chambers located in the Mausoleums, with individuals present in them at almost all times of the day and night.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Tribal Republic
  • Affiliation: Bryn'adul, Thova 'Mdanam
  • Wealth: Poor
    • The Bryn'adul nation, which encompasses the Vaydralen people, places little value in wealth accumulation. Individuals focus on doing their chosen professions in life to the best of their abilities, focusing on doing their duty above economic focuses.
  • Stability: High
    • The Vaydralen population on Mendar is largely drawn from those Clans who have shown the most loyalty to the Bryn'adul causes since their ascension. With this common background, and the guiding codes of Honor and Discipline inherent in all Vaydralen, there is little political or social unrest. All inhabitants turn their focus to their jobs in life, whatever they may be, and ensuring their family and Clan may continue on.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The lives of individuals on Mendar are highly regulated and controlled, but not by the government. The honor bound traditions of the Vaydralen see that families regulate themselves, with parents ensuring their children are raised as proper members of society. Rebellious actions, rule breaking and other such behaviors are highly frowned upon, seen as bringing dishonor to the ancestors of the Clans. Information is not hidden from the people on Mendar, and every citizen, from the youngest child to the most venerable ancient, are able to access the same information \.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Mendar maintains a permanent garrison of Vaydralen warriors, primarily those too young to join the wars of the Great Effort and the ancient veterans, retired to training of the next generations. This force rarely numbers more than a few thousand at any given time, as larger numbers of these militia defenders are taken when their time has come to join the Bryn'adul war effort. In orbit, a small flotilla of warships maintain a constant blockade around the planet, ensuring the first Vaydralen colony is protected from all outside threats.
  • Technology: Given the nature of the Bryn'adul, the technological state of Mendar would generally be considered outdated by galactic standards. The bio-technological advancements of the Mendar Vaydralen however are on par with standard Bryn'adul levels.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In ancient times, the Tho Yor traversed the galaxy and collected force sensitive individuals to bring to Tython. There, the ancient Je'daii Order was founded, and would go on to develop into the Jedi that the galaxy knows today. What is not as well known is that not all the Tho Yor arrived to Tython. A single Tho Yor, nameless and ancient even beyond the rest of its kind came instead to Mendar. There, it deposited its cargo of force sensitives onto the frozen world, and taught them how to survive. These original colonists would not endure long, for the wide variety of species present led to a far smaller stable reproduction population than what would develop on Tython. In just three generations, all those who had been brought to Mendar had perished.

Mendar would remain undiscovered by the wider galaxy for several thousand years, before one of the first Vaydralen exploration ships stumbled upon the system. Located at the very edge of the galaxy, isolated from all other star systems, the exploration ship only found it by a random computing accident. The system was marked for future exploration by the Vaydralen people, but these plans were sidelined by the arrival of the Bryn'adul to Caerdar, the homeworld of the Vaydralen.

With the coming of the Bryn'adul, the Vaydralen people were catapulted forward in terms of space travel ability. The first exploration ship to enter the Mendar star system, a generation ship launched by the Vaydralen people, was soon replaced by hyperdrive capable vessels. The Tho Yor was quickly found above Mendar itself, and research teams were deployed to investigate it and the world it hung above. While the old colony was found by exploration teams, and the temple to the far north of the world was marked for future exploration, the Tho Yor itself remained unexplored. No matter what the Vaydralen scientists and explorers tried, they were unable to open the Tho Yor. They continue their efforts to this day, though they have begun to run out of options.

The colonization of Mendar began when a conclave of Shipmasters gathered to discuss a pressing problem. The Vaydralen people were eager to take part in the Bryn'adul war across the galaxy, but they lacked the numbers to properly make up armies to fight equally beside their allies. The Bryn'adul races relied largely on cloning technology to produce their armies, where as the Vaydralen relied on the galactic standard method. They refused to even consider the possibility of cloning technologies, as to them such a practice would bring about a new generation of Vaydralen with no ties to the Clans. Warriors with no ties to family glories or Clan honor, heretics to the very ideals of the Vaydralen people.

As such, a secondary method was decided upon. The Vaydralen people would begin a mass colonization campaign, planting their people on as many worlds as possible near Caerdar and across Bryn'adul space. The goal would be, in a few generations, to have created a larger population base across many different worlds. The plan they had was long term in design, but the best option the Shipmasters could come up with. They brought this theory to the Clan Leaders on Caerdar, and the majority accepted. Mendar was selected as the first colony world for the Vaydralen people, and the first colony ships entered orbit over the world a month later.

Since then, the Vaydralen people have flourished on Mendar. Thanks to the Tho Yor's strange effects, the Vaydralen people, accustomed to a desert climate, have managed to survive on Mendar with little adverse side effects. Every month sees more Vaydralen brought to the world, and the population of those born on Mendar itself continues to grow. Every day bring more discovers as ancient tombs and vaults are discovered in Tar Valon, the capital city built upon the ancient Tho Yor colonists home. On Mendar, the Vaydralen people work without end to bring about a glorious new age for their people.

An age of colonization.

Evening, Thova 'Mdanam Thova 'Mdanam ! I love the detail you've put into the planet, especially the incorporation of the Tho Yor! Really solid looking sub. However, we do have some smaller things to correct for I can pass this on for secondary review:

Region | Per the Planet template, please link the Tingel Arm Wiki page rather than the map location.
System Name | This field is missing, please give the system a name. It should be just above System Features as seen in the quote below.
System Name: [ Example: Abrion, Herrik. ] System Features: [ Here you may list suns, moons, other planets, important asteroid belts, spatial anomalies, or other features of the star system. You may also include orbital position, rotational period (length of day), and orbital period (days in a year) in this section. if you have submitted Astronomical Objects for this system, you may link them here, and if you would like to expand on the system in more detail, you may use that template to do it at your leisure. ]
Location | Would you mind clarifying here? Mendar is in Caerdar's hex correct? To the southeast of it? If this is right, I'd recommend removing the portion in this field that mention Midvinter as the hexes/positioning many become confused.
Major Exports | Please link Kyber Crystals.
Gravity | Please replace "Earth-like" with Standard. I can understand from looking at the template how you'd get Earth-like as the rating. However, Earth terms/references are a no go for Codex.
Don't use specific Earth references as shorthand instead of explaining something. Ex. 'Japanese culture,' 'Medieval Europe', etc.
Accessibility | As the Nexus is planetary, you can remove the description and place an N/A in place of it. The Nexus is readily accessible as soon as you land on the planet.
Demographics | Here you've listed the Bryn'adul as part of the population. Are you referring to the Draelvasier specifically or the members of the faction? If you're referring to the former, please link it to the Byrn mention. Please also link the Vaydralen and the Ungulloi here as well.

As always, feel free to give a tag if you've questions/concerns or once you've completed edits!

Made the edits! And rereading it my location description might not have been the most precise, so I apologize there. I originally planned on having it in the empty hex that is below Midvinter and adjacent to Caerdar, but if it would work better to just be in the Caerdar system we can do that.

Thova 'Mdanam Thova 'Mdanam Thank you very much for those edits. I see what you meant now, thanks for clarifying! In that case, You may want to phrase it as "In the hex below Midvinter and southeast of Caerdar". That way, if you choose to add it to the map, your readers will have a clear idea of its location!
Following this change, you'll be all set for secondary!
