Biography

Born to Darth Metus and a mother of no repute, Melina Verd is royalty on technicality only. Because of her mother's lack of standing as a royal—which is to say none—Melina struggled from a young age with the feeling of being lesser-than. It took her many years to overcome the largest of those hurdles related to this, but even today she is left with an inferiority complex.

Despite both of her parents being Force-sensitives, she never developed this ability herself. This contributing to her inferiority complex, she resolved to show the world that she was capable of so much more than a Force user was. She was going to show them all.

When she was in her early twenties, the remains of her father's nation arrived in the Shiraya Expanse. Laying claim to a swathe of the new territory, she was gifted a planet to preside over. Kata'asaqua, the most mediocre of all the planets in the Ascendancy. It was meant to be a safe place for her, a place she could flourish away from the horrors of the surrounding Shiraya Expanse. However, when she arrived, she saw it was so much worse. The poverty of the existing settlements the Ascendancy had developed there was undeniably horrendous, and it was only declining.

It was here that she showed her true colors. She shined in a rulership environment, bringing the few small impoverished settlements to one of the most prosperous planets in the Expanse. Her rulership was beloved, until the Ascendancy civilians she presided over discovered her half-royal heritage. The populace became divided over her right-to-rule and she was nearly driven from her palace in a coup. After an extensive campaign, she managed to settle the populace enough that she could return to rule.

And now she must start from square one.
