Popo

@[member="MAI"] @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

It was time. Popo was spending far too much time monitoring and micromanaging the Wheel, the Wheel's assets, and the various businesses, traffic, and everything else that went with it. The Hutt slept well enough, but despite his wealth, power, and prestige, he felt he could trust no one else to managing the vast space station so that he could spend more time lounging, enjoying his wealth, and generally expanding the other avenues of his income. Namely, the underworld and the Tenloss Corporation.

Because of this, the Shell Hutt had sent out his most trusted talent seekers. Normally, the men and women and beings he sent out would do their usual job of finding new entertainers, fresh revenue sources, or fledgling businesses to bring back to Popo and the Hutt Cartel, though mostly to the Wheel and Tenloss. Popo was a member of the Cartel, this was true, but he had his own dealings and personal empire to build over top of what the Cartel required. The fact that Popo's business wheeling and dealing benefited the other Hutts was a secondary effect on his main goals where he to be honest, which he usually wasn't if he could help it.

This job, however, was different. Popo had heard of advanced computer systems in use around the galaxy. Advanced computer intelligence programs. Supercomputers. Artificial Intelligence.

The Hutt wanted one.

Popo had decided that an advanced AI, loyal only to him, was necessary to effectively run the Wheel at optimum efficiency and minimal cost. The seekers he had sent out were charged with one thing and one thing only: Find those who could make the Hutt an AI system.

The Hutt realized that such a system was not 'for sale' in the galaxy. He realized that he would have to make his own and, while Popo was computer savvy enough to complete his complicated dealings and doctor his own books himself, he lacked the knowledge, experience, and general know how to create his own, advanced, sentient AI program.

And so he sought those who could and, from the reports so far, two individuals had stepped forward. His seekers had sent reports, of course. They always did, if they wished to remain in their positions, much less physically intact. In fact, luck was with the huge Hutt as both had arrived at roughly the same time. Thankfully, Wheel security in their heavy, durasteel armor was already escorting the individuals up to Popo's office where he sat, lounging, in his plush and ultra comfortable Hutt-sized chair behind his Hutt-sized desk.

Popo sat back and basked in the moment. Soon, with enough credits spent and the proper time given to the project, especially with the correct individuals, he would have what he wanted and, once it was completed and uploaded into the Wheel's computer systems, he could begin pushing his other agendas to what they really were capable of. Soon, the galaxy's underworld we be under his immense thumb.

But for now, he would simply play it safe and cautious. One step at a time, as he had always done for the past few centuries. This AI was just a starting step on his set path...

The message brought to me room the Hutt's seekers had given me calculations that ended badly or very badly. My databanks had plenty of history on the Hutts, how the planet Hutta is not even their own, how they make a great living off crime in every sense of the word, and now one was asking me to help him deign an A.I. As much as I disliked the idea I had heard what happened to those that crossed organics, droids especially. Wanting to avoid enough things I decided to accept.

Once brought to the Wheel I examined the ships design from outside of it before scanning everything inside. Security was great, and for a Hutt that was expected, yet it seemed there as many micromanaging among the rest of the staff. It became more and more apparent why @[member="Popo"] the Hutt wanted an A.I. When I was brought before him, along with @Judah Dashiell I took observation of him and the room we were in. If negotiations turned bad in anyway, and with Hutts that tended to be the case, it would be best to know an escape route and any other means of defense.

I walked up to the Hutt and, using my multilingual system, I soke to him in Huttese, saying <Greetings, exulted Popo. I am MAI and I have agreed to create the A.I. system with which you require to, as I have seen, help to manage your ship. Correct?>

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
Popo stared at the small droid before him. It spoke Huttese, which was well and good and all, but Popo preferred his business deals in Basic. It was faster and nearly everyone spoke the langauge, which meant that any miss-communications were on those that didn't listen, not Popo.

"The use of Galactic Basic is preferred in business dealings with me, droid," Popo rumbled, his face unreadable to most. Whether the droid had an application for that, the Hutt did not know. "I have been told you are extremely useful in all ways technological. They tell me you can build an Artificial Intelligence, or aid in one's construction. Is this true?"

@[member="MAI"]

MAI

"More or less." I stated, changing the language to basic. "I suspect your references and sources come from my work among the Sith Empire, The Confederacy of Independent Systems and one instance for the Galactic Republic. Though the third was for a protocol droid that suffered from an issue with it's neural processors. More or less it was just being lazy." I knew that qualified under the terms of a joke, though I had not realized it until after I had spoken. "Regardless I have been more prone for customizing and upgrading A.I. programs. To create one from start will require knowledge of the parameters you wish for it to fulfill." I turned my attention to the male human next to me. I was curious to know where his qualifications lied.

@[member="Judah Dashiell"] @[member="Popo"]

@[member="Popo"] @[member="MAI"]

Judah had a hard time believing he was here in Sith space, standing in front of a Hutt with a highly-advanced droid next to him. He looked down, clearly dressed. Waiting, the sound of his own snoring did not interrupt the actions happening between the large Hutt and droid. It wasn't a dream at all. He was here, ready and willing to help construct a large infrastructure for the Mighty Popo. While he had promised Thessa never to deal with Sith, she had never said anything about Hutts. While they weren't all exactly a overly trustworthy bunch, Judah saw the business opportunity -- and credits -- too good to pass up.

Shifting slightly on his feet, attention turned towards the droid and Popo the Hutt. He felt relieved when the conversation turned to Galactic Basic and he could keep up. Before then he had to look interested and rely on body language. Hutts and droids didn't have the best body language. Their discussion landed on the artificial intelligence he was here to help lay a hand in. Judah had little idea on how to design an entire A.I. system. He could program droids but most only worked inside the parameters given. Popo was talking about something that essentially could think on its feet as if it was a sentient being.

After chuckling at the droids joke, Judah felt it was his turn to speak.

"Yes, Your Greatness. While my skills in creating such an intelligence are lacking, I do offer the ability not only to assist the droid next to me, but offer my own personal touch in return. I have experience in security systems, as well as extensive knowledge of droids. I could easily build in a fail safe, an override switch. This would be conjoined with security measures put into place, such as anti-tampering devices. This would give your design security in addition to being able to control the final product as you well please."

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
Popo nodded and rummaged amongst the files on his desk. After a moment, he pulled a pair of folders out of a small stack and handed one each to the individuals before him.

"Inside are the parameters I desire for the program you will create," Popo said as he waited for them to open the files. "The explanation should be straightforward enough."

Popo was correct in his assumption on the ease of understanding of the files. The parameters were simple. The Hutt wanted a program to run the Wheel's details and micromanage the space station while under simple supervision from Popo. The AI was to be able to power through Wheel accounts and manage the books. It was to automatically doctor the books to hide any and all criminal activity. It was also to automatically collect rent and other transactions dealing within the Wheel as well as all incoming transactions directly to Popo's Wheel accounts from anywhere in the galaxy. Such a start to a program was complex, but it was just the start.

Further in the files Popo had outlined other parameters. Security of the Wheel was a main goal for the AI. It would need to be able to integrate directly with the facial recognition system the Tenloss Corporation, under Popo's rule, had installed into the space station. The system, called HWK-I though better known as 'Hawk-Eye' by Wheel security, was able to identify the faces of individuals through complex measurement algorithms when compared to the Wheel database. The AI also needed to be able to monitor Wheel security feeds and comms as well as manage the security personnel and react to incidents on the Wheel itself. Essentially, the AI was to be the eyes, ears, and mouth of the Wheel's security forces and to dispatch armed guards to where they were needed at a moment's notice.

Finally, the program was to be totally unique. Only found on the Wheel itself. A gem among AI's, and Popo would suffer no less than a perfect job. The AI would be so different, so unique to the Wheel, that to be placed anywhere else in the galaxy would reduce the program to nothing more than a simple accounting program. The programs and files and algorithms that would make up the sentient AI would be only compatible with the space station itself and Popo would be karked if anyone else would make anything of the like anywhere else in the galaxy.

"There is one more thing that is not recorded on the files that will be necessary for the artificial intelligence," Popo said after a few moments to let them skim the paperwork and parameters. "The program must be programmed to obey only me, no one else. Once it is installed and fully operational, the only way to alter commands, programs, or even update the AI itself must be through me and me alone. To do this, I will have a specialized security protocol installed that the AI will be required to uplink directly to. In essence, the device will be the AI's inhibitor and command nodule. Also, the program will need to be capable of an in depth scan, breakdown, and reassembly of genetic material to fully utilize this device."

The Shell Hutt leaned back on his plush pad and stared at the two bipedals before him.

"Do you both understand what is required of you?" he asked evenly.

I scanned the data and outline from the files on what was required of the A.I. @[member="Popo"] wanted, as well as what he explained was required of it. Taking it all into account I stated "Your request of the A.I. is a great one, but not impossible. An Advanced neural networking intelligence. It may take some time but it can be done, exalted one." I waited to hear what the human would say to Popo's request, hoping that his insight would add to the construction of the A.I.

@[member="Popo"] @[member="MAI"]

Being but a mere human, it look Judah much longer to read through the file the mighty Hutt had given them. Most of it seemed very straightforward. He had implemented security programming on droids before. The trickiest part was adding in the parameters to do what one desired. For example, to shoot at one person but not another. Separately, the breakdown was quite standard. The most difficult part the Hutt was asking was to combine it all into one large intelligence system. A hand ran through his curly hair as he thought of the ways such a process could be done. The droid next to him seemed highly advanced, much like his own droid Ferox back home. Perhaps their combined experiences would make such a task less daunting.

"Individually your rests are extremely feasible. Quite standard in most parts of the universe really. To bring those together under one umbrella is going to be the most difficult part. However...with time Yand trial and error I have no doubts that this system could be built for your facility. I will need access to many rooms though to install the security portions, the cameras and the like. Working in reverse and with each section individually before tying it together will be my strategy."

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
"Time and cost are no worry to me," Popo stated bluntly with a dismissing wave of his hand. "So long as the AI is finished and doesn't take months and years to finish, I care little for the time frame."

Popo brought up a layout of the space station and let the holoprojector built into his desk display it for both to see.

"You both will have complete access to any and all parts of the space station," he stated neutrally. "This includes any and all establishments, casinos, and personal areas of anyone residing aboard the Wheel. However, secure areas will require a security detail for the both of you the entire time you are within those areas. Working section by section is acceptable, though I will state that the sooner the HWK-I Facial Recognition System is connected to the AI, the better."

"Understood, @[member="Popo"]." I stated, bowing a little. Looking to the organic known as @[member="Judah Dashiell"] and said "We should begin immediately. If you will please follow me." I walked out, waiting until Judah had followed me out and away from Popo before stating "You realize what the Hutt i asking for is something that will, indeed, take a great deal of time to fully construct. Programming alone could take up to a week for an organic like yourself."

@[member="MAI"] @[member="Popo"]

Offering a slight bow along with the droid, Judah secured his information under his arm. Mind was already drifting to all the work they had to do, and what he wanted to do first. The large Hutt was very adamant on the fact the facial recognition system must be in place. Following the rather unusual droid, which Judah was even more curious about. Must have been a custom commission for a rich family. They were now out of earshot of the Hutt, and he carefully looked around the corridors. Probably rigged with listening devices...or would be soon once he installed them.

"My wife knows where I am." Judah smirked at his own joke, which probably would fail to translate to the droid. " I am aware of the time frame. This job is going to be time consuming more than anything. The pay is very decent though, and could be in more business for someone like myself. Are you having second thoughts? I figure programming will go much quicker with your help."

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
Popo leaned back and frowned. The third he'd hired had yet to appear as of yet, which annoyed him greatly. The Hutt turned on the holoprojector set into his desk and glanced at the security cameras. The droid he'd hired had walked off and disappeared. To where, he didn't know and the cameras couldn't tell him. She had simply vanished, which bothered Popo, but it was a droid. Sometimes they malfunctioned. Sometimes they were faulty. It would turn up eventually or someone would find it and scrap it.

As he sat and thought, the turbo lift appeared yet again and another individual was escorted into the suite by Wheel security. Popo glanced over the non-human and compared it with the files on his database before nodding. The third had arrived indeed.

@[member="Donatos"] @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

Leather boots marched down the metalic floor panels of the Wheel, swirving around corners and mulitiudes of alien and humanoid races the boot wearer strode in affirmative confidence. Only stopping before a blocked door, guarded by a battle droid? Most likely an experimental and or illegal model since it's design did not register with Donatos. Adorned in a silver uniform, pants and jacket was the young red Mon Calamarian, summoned here to the Wheel, by the enormity excellence, Popo the Hutt.

The droid must have delayed in responding as it took time to study Donatos, most likely it was trying to register facial I.D. which should not be too hard since Mon Cals were very rare to see in today's Galaxy. The Mon Cal gave a wave of his webbed finger and a clicking like noise from his mouth as he shook his bulbous head from side to side. "No, no, no. My friend, in the time it takes you to recognize who I am, I could have been a trained assassin and dissembled you before you spoke the first three letters of my name. If I was an amateur assassin with no formal training, then I would have dissembled you before you said my full name. Clearly your security here is indeed in need of upgrading. Sadly I do not have-"

"Donatos...Mon Calamarian...Male...Excessive Communications....Expected...Entry....Granted."

"Oh, well I ah thank you, droid." Donatos stammered when the droid had interrupted him, but made his way through the sliding passage way. Once through the threshold, the door behind him slid shut, but before him. Was indeed the chambers of a Hutt, and there at the top and center of the room was said Hutt. At the moment Donatos only saw Popo and a human male he felt he recognized from somewhere. Walking up to the Hutt, Donatos gave a theatrical bow, arching his back foward and doing a circulation motion with his hands before coming to a full bow on one knee. "Eminence," The Mon Cal said, before reaching for the outstretched armored hand of the Hutt and bestowing upon it a quick, yet gentle kiss. A customary show of respect to a powerful Hutt Lord.

"Forgive me you're Superiorness, I apologize for my late arrival. Certain care was needed to travel here. In Sith space, my home system and people are under the rule of the Sith Empire, many would assume me a runaway slave and the consequences of such assumptions would not be in anyone's best interest." The Mon Cal gave a nod of his head as he easily regained an upright posture again. "I am Donatos," the Mon Cal introduced himself with the opening spread of his arms. Mon Calamarians tended to speak with their hands, or so they were told.

"I must also confess two truths, one upon reading the qualifications you are looking for I must be honest, I am not as well educated as I should be in the field of programming." He meant that with humility and a bit of malice towards the end, if Mon Calamari was free, his education would be endless under the ancient and revered curriculum of his people's scholars. The young Mon Cal however kept up with the positive energy he brought with him, bringing one arm behind his back and the other upright, pointing a finger into the air. "Yet, the second truth. I am a designer, artistic, creative, unique. Attributes I can orchestrate into the AI you wish to be created. My artwork is known, I have taken on many commissions from various sentient s across the stars. I am most confident in you're choice of programers, yet despite the sophistication it may utilize, what of its attractiveness? No? I would feel one of your stature and appreciation for the finer things would want something spectacular, unique, something that is worthy to you?....and desirable by others? " He grinned as he let that last sentence roll off of his tongue, his accent was a foreign one. Exotic, yet still harkens back to the raspy croaks his people were known for.

Donatos smiled, his gullet inflating and deflating slowly as he breathed awaiting the response of Popo. Glancing with his large grey eyes, Donatos had a thought of how he might know the human near him. They may not have met in person, but Donatos believed he offered the man one his art works, yes....it was in relation to his rural upbringing with the contrast of the city and indsutrial life styles. With a free spirit essence added to it, to pull the piece together, yes. The name sounded similar to a Mon Calamarian name, but Donatos recalled the artwork he made for him. Perhaps this gentleman would recognize Donatos too and speak well on his behalf to their gracious host.

@[member="Popo"] @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

@[member="Donatos"] @[member="Popo"]

After his failed joke to the droid, it seemingly disappeared. His lame attempt at domestic humor indeed did not translate well at all. Perhaps the circuits had malfunctioned so terribly Judah had set it over the edge. It was hard to tell. Indeed, his job perhaps was now a little harder. An advanced droid would have made the programming much easier. The salvager was confident in his abilities, no doubt. For him to perform the task by hand would just take longer. Yet the mighty Hutt seemed not to care about the time but rather the quality of the job.Judah was getting paid handsomely for his services.

The Mon Calamarian had entered and given his speech to the Mighty Popo. Judah had recognized the creature easily. He had commissioned an art piece long ago from the Mon Calamarian, a beautiful piece showing his transition from a rural life to his rise as a business owner. The painting was currently above the fireplace mantel at his beach home on Ceto, a centerpiece of the room. He had been drawn to the artist due to the Mon Calamarians origins. They were very similar to his soon to be wife's. Her parents were former slaves in Sith territory, her brothers had been left behind.

"Mighty Popo, I can vouch for this being. His eye for the creative is unmatched. He can see around corners and think out of the box better than most. With his assistance, I see no problems in completing your project with ease."

Hopefully the Hutt would let the Mon Calamarian stay aboard. Judah did have another piece he wanted painted. No better time to make that deal than when the pair would be working together.

Donatos inhaled a great breath of air, held it only for a second before just as dramatically exhaling it. The Mon Cal was flattered to have such praise and recommendation bestowed upon him, he smiled and tugged at the propped open collar of his silver jacket, gracefully craning his head in a bow of gratitude to the human male. In that pose maintained, Donatos spoke, eyes looking at the human and said, "You honor me with your kind words sir, I am grateful to have physical evidence of how much work I put into my creations be presented before his Mighty-ness, Popo the Hutt and myself." His motion re-winded as his head was brought upright, "I thank you." Was the last the humbled Mon Cal said, now awaiting Popo's response with greater eagerness.

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
Popo looked at the two, the human and the Mon Cal, and said nothing at first. Thinking carefully for a moment, his eyes flickered between the two as he gauged how to phrase what he wanted to say very carefully and clearly.

"I'm different than most Hutts," he said slowly and purposefully. "Flattery with me gets you no where. Results do. You do this job well, both of you, and there will be more in the future. I pay well for the work I require, so don't kark this up."

Popo snagged the file from his desk and handed it to Donatos.

"Same files he's got," the Hutt stated bluntly and gestured to Judah. "I'm not going over it again, so read through it or have the human explain it to you. You start now and I expect daily progress reports."

With that, Popo simply sat there and waited for the two contractors to get to work.

@Popo @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

The Mon Calamarian appreciated the directness of the Hutt. Playing praise and political games could be amusing, though he would not disrespect his employer who asked for them to merely stay professional and begin their work. The Mon Cal received the copy of the files from the armored Hutt and began to read the specifications, this would give him a slight idea on how the program should look and act during its duties. "Understood, my Lord. For the aesthetics of the AI's design, did you have anything in particular you would like me to start off with or shall I claim total creative expression for this assignment other than following the technical aspects of what is required?"

Donatos could help out as an assistant to the human male, and work with him in theorizing, but most of his contributions shall be for the design part of the AI. The Mon Cal wondered if there were any others contracted to help with this project? If not that meant more credits for the pair, which perfectly acceptable to Donatos. He had a few investment plans he wanted to work on.

@[member="Donatos"] @[member="Popo"]

Seeing no need for himself, Judah disappeared into the Wheel to start his work. The Mon Calamarian would find him if needed....

Entry 1.0 - Security

Mighty Popo,

Since your presence is demanded by many, I will not trouble you with trivial updates in person. Progress on your security system for the Wheel is going as expected. Nearly all of the cameras have been installed, along with the cabling linking them back to what will be your artificial intelligence system, or ANNI as I have dubbed it. I apologize for any inconvenience the installation has caused but the majority has been completed. Currently, my astromech unit is working on your facial recognition programming. I suspect it will be operational before ANNI will be. Humbly requesting a file of your enemies for the system, so they can be programmed in properly.

END ENTRY 1.0

Meanwhile, burly guards did not seem amused or entertained by his presence. Judah had much work to do throughout the Wheel and per the Hutts instructions, he must be accompanied. Today he was in the Mighty Popo's personal chambers, installing control and override panels for the Hutt to browse in the leisure of his own...penthouse?Suite? Cables hung from the ceiling, meeting at one central point as he installed the computer.

"Mind handling me that crimper there...uhh..Kraug..."

Grunting, the guard handing him the proper tool, and if looks could kill Judah would certainly be dead.

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
Popo turned to the Mon Cal as the human walked off to begin working.

"You will have full expression on the project within the parameters of the AI design," Popo stated. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some papers to go through."

With that, the Hutt returned to the files on his desk with the hopes of knocking out at least some of the files before the station's night sequence.

Entry Reply 1.0 - Security

Mr. Dashiell,
While I am busy with my work in and around the Corporation and the Wheel, regular updates are expected and welcome, even the seemingly trivial ones. Your progress so far is noted and appreciated. I have seen the updated, upgraded, and the newer holocameras situated around the station. The name you have chosen will be sufficient for the system identifier. I'll update my information on the new name shortly. As for your work on the HWK-I Facial Recognition System, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Are you linking the AI to the preexisting system or readjusting the system entirely? There are multiple servers situated around the station for safety and redundancy purposes. If you have not done so already, please link all of the servers to the AI system's hardware so as to fully integrate ANNI with the program upon activation. Also, my techs down at the Wheel Arena are having issues with their holoprojectors over the arena center. If you have some spare time, would you mind showing them how to do their karking jobs, please?

Snoring lightly and all but spooning his pillow, Judah shifted in his sleep, head coming to rest on the edge of the pillow as he mumbled something. Comm beeped with the Hutts late night message, trilling tone trying to command his attention. Miraculously, his brain barely registered the noise. Groggily he reached behind him and grabbed the comm, touching the lamp base to dimly illuminate the cabin. Brain struggled to process he wasn't home. The pillow wasn't his mermaid. Trilling wasn't the sound of the ocean drifting into the spacious beach house.

Squinting slightly, Judah read the message and typed out one of his own.

RE : 1.0 Security, Update

Mighty Popo, I am currently linking your servers together, hence my presence in your private quarters as of late. Lines are currently being ran back to the chosen ANNI site. HWK-I is not being redone, merely tweaked to better serve your needs. Manufacturer had some issues adjusting to various alien species, couldn't identify them properly. Fixed now. Holoprojectors are now at the top of my list.

------

Later in the day, Judah was ready to pull out his hair. Who was Popo to let these idiots around expensive holoprojector equipment? Top of the line and here it was sitting crumb covered with switched jammed.

"No. We can't just trip the system! Thats your problem in the first place, you're causing glitches. These graphic chips are notoriously sensitive. No wonder it doesn't work anymore..."

After cleaning the holoprojector units and resetting them back to their original condition, Judah could set back to work on the ANNI system. Cameras, both visible and non, now ran through the entire Wheel. Back at the ANNI site, Judah sat until the late hours in the evening, testing each one. Programming was left up to one of his trusty droids that would get it done in a night, rather than a day or more if he did it alone.

----------
Message : Holoprojector + Update

Your holoprojectors are fixed. I highly recommend non-crumbly foods at the control station or be prepared to replace the entire control panel. Cameras are up and wired in. My droid is programming in the needed parameters. You shall be enjoying a live feed by breakfast.

[[OOC - Awesome, I enjoy the idea as well]]
