Private Medical History Needed

In the aftermath of The Info Wars

The first bad sign Liin would have when Saul didn't come back to the shuttle after the fighting and her meeting on Daro settled down. But then, she would most likely tell herself that it was chaos on the world and plans changed. That maybe he couldn't get back to the shuttle and got off planet another way. Probably nothing to worry about.

The second and damning sign that something was very, very wrong was when she would get a call from one of the hospitals on Bastion, saying that Saul was now lying in a hospital bed following being exposed to the nixous gas, being assisted by a ventilator to breathe. Being his only personal contact in his communicator, the hospital staff had called her to ask for any of his medical history and to inform her where the cyborg was. It would be up to her to decide where to go from here.

My return to Bastion from Daro was thankfully without incident. I had kept my meeting with Jonah Jonah a secret. It was, afterall, a personal meeting. And I was completely unaware of the political situation amongst both the Diarchy that have given me sanctuary, and the Mandalorians that Jonah now finds himself a part of. My lack of knowledge in current events is due in large part to my isolation from the Galaxy as a whole. And I see no reason to be faulted for that when I have never been involved with the Galaxy's politics or wars. It is not my place to do so. I am no warrior.

However others are. And when I had received a call from some medical facility regarding Saul; I could only stand there with a perplexed look on my face. Was he somehow my responsibility? I know nothing of his medical history and certainly did not know why my number was listed. I am still used to remaining hidden and off the grid. Yet it seems that that is not the case anymore, which gives me cause to worry. But not as much worry as those that go through battle must endure.

And so I find myself at the hospital; in the room where Saul lay hooked up to machines that kept him alive. I am no medical doctor, so there is little for me to suggest to improve his situation. All that I can do is just wait along with everyone else. I dare not to attempt to use any of my abilities, and I hope that neither of them are invoked on their own again. At least for the moment it is not very difficult to remain calm.

Saul was sleeping with a breathing when Liin slid inside the hospital, trying to rest after the long journey back to Bastion through hyperspace. The gassing had taken a toll on his body and he needed to rest if he wanted to fully recover. It would be an hour or two before his drowsy senses noticed the new person in the room and forced him to open his eyes for the first time.

As his eyelids first broke apart, he saw the room's ceiling and guessed he was back in Diarch space. Guess he reallly had to thank Iandre Athlea Iandre Athlea for bring back home. What he didn't think to find in the armchair beside him was Liin. If she was awake, he would slowly reach a hand out and squeeze her knee as he gave her a tired smile, taking off the breathing mask to say. "Wow, I didn't think my nurse would be so cute... I'm must won the luck of the draw..." A couple of coughs would overwhelm him, causing him to take a minute to put the mask back on, trying to get some air in the system. His lungs were burning and making it hard to speak. Eventually, he pulled his mask down and said to her in and honest rough tone. "I'm sorry I tried to be a hero..." He felt like he had let her down, just like those he had been forced to leave behind in the mad rush to get to safety. And that feeling was one of the worst imaginable...

The minutes passed by quickly for me. Perhaps even more so due to my being lost in my own thoughts. I am used to being alone, so I do not find the solitude boring at all. Instead I use it to brainstorm other solutions to my current problems.

The sudden touch on my knee startled me out of those thoughts, and I jumped in my seat out of sheer surprise. "
Saul! You are awake!" I press the button on a panel on the wall that is meant to ping the nurse. I had been given the instructions to do so and so I chose to follow them. The last thing that I need is to get into trouble by the medical staff.

I furrowed my brow with concern while he coughed. He spoke of trying to be a hero and that had me a little bit puzzled; for I was given no details as to what happened there. I was just a fortunate one to not of been anywhere near the battle at all. Luck was with me.

"
Well, I am sure that you had fared far better than I ever could. I do not expect that I would of survived any battle." Escaping invadors that broke into my laboratories was a different thing entirely from a battle for I never confronted them. I merely ran. And I am certain that if I was caught up in some battle; I would run from there too.

Well, there went their moment of alone time... Saul wished Liin wasn't such a stickler for the rules. It was hearing her voice, though. "Aww, with that talk... it almost seems like... you missed me..." Trying to act like he was alright while his lungs burned, he went silent while a male human nurse came in to adjust the breathing machine and make sure he was comfortable. Giving the man a fake smile, he pushed out, "I'm alright now... that she is here..." which was enough to satisfy his nurse. After pointing out all the buttons on the hospital bed, the nurse let him bed and after asking Liin to make sure the door was closed, he started to tell her what happened.

Saul started slowly, knowing this was going to get a fair bit of talking to get what he had to say across. Being long-winded was not a luxury he had right now. The Cyborg grimaced at the thought of her trying to survive in a warzone and what would probably be the result of that happening. He hoped that would never happen, at least not without him. Slowly, Saul started to tell what happened as best as he could remember it. "I was out shopping in the market for parts,... seeing if anything was interesting while you had your meeting... I heard mortars firing... And then I heard feet rushing towards me... The sound was a wave of people running from something... Nerve gas was coming behind them... I tried my best to get some of the crowd to safety, but..." He shuddered, thinking of those he couldn't push fast enough, who fell behind and were left in the poisoned fog. "Anyways... I made it to the Diarch compound we set as our secondary meet-up point... in case something went wrong with the shuttle... One of the people I know in the government was there... and helped me get off the world." He paused for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts as he looked at the airspeeders passing by and wondered if he should share his suspicions with her. "I think it was the Diarchy who released it... the gas... Or at least someone in the government who had access to it. Things like that aren't the Mandos' style... things with barrels that go bang are usually the only weapons they need..."

Watching her reaction to the news, he attempted to figure out if he was right to tell her with this information. It's not like this information was a secret for anyone who was there, that something very wrong had happened to the civilians, but he didn't want to get her into any more trouble than she already was. "Well, I saved who I could, and that's what counts." Reaching out, he tapped the button on his bedside controller for the morphine drip to send some of the substance into his veins. The cyborg just needed a break from the burning sensation that was eating him alive, just for a little bit.

In truth I did not expect him to be awake so soon. Or perhaps time had gotten the better of me. Either way he is now awake and talking. I could feel my cheeks flush ever so slightly as he spoke to the nurse of my being here making him all the better. Yet at the same time I felt myself wondering just how I would react if he never woke up at all....

The nurse gave me some instructions on what to look out for and what buttons to press if needed. I bowed my head in understanding and once the door was closed, I returned my focus to Saul. I listened to him quietly as he recalled what had happened. And the news that he gave me was horrifying. Nerve gas on civilians? Is that the Diarchy way? I only hope that it is not. "
Perhaps a cannister was broken by mistake? Or someone went rogue and released it? I do not know much of anything of how the Diarchy conduct themselves in battle; but such a criminal act is hard to believe." An investigation is sure the be conducted on such a matter. I will for certain bring it up to Diarch Reign Diarch Reign or Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik when next I see them. But I keep those thoughts to myself for now.

"
You did more than what the average person would do. Saving even just one life besides your own is heroic. Not to mention very brave. So you deserve to rest. I will see what I can discover about what happened soon enough."

No person or government or society is perfect. I just hope that I had chosen the right place for sanctuary.

Well, she wasn't arguing with his compliments; that was progress in their relationship. Saul tried to keep his brave face for her, even when everything was hurting. The cyborg confirmed her theory as the morphine slowly started to ease the pain. "My bet is option 2... One broken canister wouldn't flood the whole city... And as aggressive as the Diarchs are in their foreign policies... I don't think they would go that low... There would be rebellions in Diarch space if they were using these tactics everywhere... Maybe he was wrong; a lot could go on in the shadows that neither of them knows about.

Now it was Saul's time to blush under the weight of Liin's words, fumbling to come up with an answer. "I... just did what I thought was right..." The drip was slowly taking effect, making Saul close his eyes as his body made him rest. When Liin got up to leave, however, she would feel a weak tug on her, just enough to take her off her feet and make her fall into the open space on Saul's bed. Capitalizing on this, the cyborg would slide his arm around her and hold her tight. "Just... stay with me..." They had almost lost each other, lost whatever chance they had to be something, and Saul wasn't going to take that lying down. Besides, the nosebleed that was coming was worth the chance to hold the stunning blonde of his dreams.

I cannot even begin to guess at what the Diarchy foreign policy is like. My knowledge there is sorely lacking. Never have I ever delt with the Galaxy's super powers. They had no interest in myself nor New Cov for we were too small and insignificant for them.

But I no longer need to have a care in the Galaxy about what any of them do. As I have told one of my friends; I have basically undergone a retirement. There is no longer any disappointment about being left alone in rooms full of people; even at the events that I was hosting. And I fibd that to be very freeing.

Saul began to drift off as his medication kicks in. I cannot exactly stay here forever, for there is still work to be done in my laboratory. Yet as I start to take my leave; something grabs me from behind and pulls me back. I nearly fall onto the bed; yet do so in such a way that I do not land on him. And it is not until his arm wraps tightly around me that I realize what had happened. No one had ever used their magics on me before and in his medicated state he had done so. My jaw drops in surprise and I take a hold of his arm in a bid to at least loosen his tight grip. "
Take it easy! You need your rest and you cannot very well do that if I am interfering. I cannot imagine that it will be too long before you are well enough to be discharged."

Saul didn't hear Liin's pleas for release because he was already snoring away. Apparently having someone to hold was a good sleep aid or maybe almost losing your life made you hold onto the ones you love that much more. Either way, if she couldn't escape his deathgrip by herself, she would most likely have to call the nurse in to help. As the nurse came in, he couldn't help but chuckle at the scene abit before eventually prying the Cyborg's fingers off of her. "He must really love you to hold you this tight." Whatever the reason, Saul had a smile on his face when Liin finally left the room.

After more rest and acouple of bacta summerages, Saul was slated to be released from the hostpital after acouple of days. He would send Liin a message via datapad of what his current situation is and what time he would be released. It was basically an attempt to proposition her to pick him up but he knew she probably needed another break from his energy. If she didn't pick him up though it would be a long walk with his worn duffle bag back to the spaceport budget hotels he usually stayed at while he was on planet.

At long last I had gotten help. I am not a strong person, never have been the athletic sort. And here I was being held by an almost death grip. Thank goodness for strong nurses.

I reacted to his comment with a slightly uncomfortable laugh. "
He is also highly medicated." And he most certainly has an infatuation with me. I am not entirely sure of how to handle that. It is not something that I can just jump headlong into. There is so much that could go wrong with that. Not to mention that I have a lot of work to do with my research.

Days pass by and Saul is ready to be discharged. However if he's healed enough to be on his own remains to be seen. So I find myself back at the hospital with one of my guards as an escort and to give me a helping hand in case Saul tumbled. "
How do you feel? Are you back to normal or still having side effects?" If anything I had a guest room for him to stay in and staff on hand to help.

The Cyborg was surprised when Liin and her minder approached him. He didn't expect her to come all the way out to the hospital again. He was even more surprised by her offer. Offering her a few false coughs, he looked at her with his best puppy eyes, his neon replacements could muster up."Well, my throat is a little sore...The best thing for me to heal is probably getting something that's not hospital food." In reality, he was mostly fine. It's not like he had anything left to throw back up after the trip back to Bastion, and his legs couldn't get shaky ever again due to his prosthetics. If Liin held her arm out to him, though, he would take it. He had already almost missed one life; he wasn't going to miss out on the chance at another.

As they either walked or got into Liin's hoverspeeder, Saul would remain quiet, remembering the last moments of the other day. He didn't regret it, in fact, he loved feeling close to Liin, but he hadn't exactly asked for permission... She probably would have shrugged it off if he had. Saul was of two minds when it came to Liin: either risk everything trying to get close to her or stay respectful of boundaries and not win anything at all. But he had come from nothing and just for the chance to have someone who cared about him... He would pull the lever down on that lottery machine every single time.

Still, he had to say sorry about the event somehow. Rubbing the side of his head, he started the only way he could. "Hey Liin, I'm sorry... about the other day... I should have respected your space more. Guess I saw what I almost lost and went a little overboard." He let the moment pass for a minute or two before leaning in to whisper one last passing comment. "Cuddling with you was comfortable, though. We should do it more often," Leaning back as he watched her face bloom into color, he acted like nothing happened as they figured out where they were going.

The ride back to my residence is quiet for the most part. Yet I could tell with Saul's posture that he had something on his mind. I was not about to press, however. I value my privacy. And so in light of that I respect the privacy of others as well.

The silence did not last the entire ride, for Saul soon spoke at least some of the thoughts that were on his mind. One of them being of when he had gotten a hold of me. My eyebrows rose in surprise as I had assumed that he was asleep or too medicated to remember it. But it is now clear that he did. Not only that, but he had enjoyed it.

At first I was unsure of how to respond, and so I gave myself a few moments to choose my words before speaking them aloud. "
Yes well, you have a very tight grip. I needed a hand from a nurse to get out of it. If your arm was any higher, then my ability to breathe would of been heavily restricted." I paused for a second or two; if only to sort through my words even further. "And as far as cuddling is concerned; I am not entirely skilled in that department. Nor am I feeling entirely relaxed with anywhere that I am. I may have sanctuary here, but I find it difficult to feel fully safe. An unseen threat is looming. I can feel it and it has me quite distracted."

Saul couldn't hide the blush on his cheeks as he heard how he trapped Liin in bed. He has remembered deciding to pull her in but everything else was a blur... It seemed like both of them were trying their best to find a tactical approach to tell each other how they were feeling. "Well... Maybe I'd almost lost my chance to hold you like that... And I didn't want to miss it." Deciding that he shouldn't stop being bold now, he put his hand over hers and interwove their fingers, giving her his best smile. "And I'm sure we will have plenty of time to practice. Or maybe I'll steal it. Either way, I'll try to make you feel as safe as I can, as hard as that will be." Maybe that statement would be enough for her to actually believe it.

He went back to looking out the window, responding to her last statement with "Well, you could stop your work and could make you a fake identity, but that wouldn't solve the problem, would it? So we take and savor each day as it comes and prepare if your feeling comes to relatity." With that the hovercar went back to comfortable silence till her driver turned the radio on and Saul started to sing the first song that came on absentmindedly to himself. "There's a fire in my brain and I'm burning up... Oh my... Oh my..."

He placed his hand upon mine gently. Not only that but he intertwined my fingers with his own. I slowly turned my head towards him. Not fully, mind you, but partly so while I studied him. There was a small amount of comfort in that little gesture that he gave for I longed to feel safe again. But I know deep down that that will not happen for some time. And I hate this feeling. Perhaps too it is a part of the side effects.

Saul focuses his attention to the window and remarks on a different course of action to take. If these abilities of mine did not call others to me like a beacon, or make me feel so different around the Force Wizards; then such an idea would be possible. But alas, that is not the case.

Which reminded me....

"
Saul, do you remember how you pulled me towards you on the bed? It was not done physically. Are you certain that you have no Force Wizard abilities of your own?"

Saul stayed quite for a while at Liin's question. He should have guessed from their duel nose bleeds would mean something... And after Liin showing him her powers at the park... He just didn't understand till now. "Maybe... I thought I reached out to you, but my mind was more than a bit fuzzy that day... And the twin nose bleeds... If that's it, I'm a late bloomer..." The Cyborg held his head as he tried to wrap his mind around this. Could he be force sensitive. Maybe that's why that's why the corporation pushing so hard in the tests they did on him... They wanted him to show signs of being force sensitive.

Breathing heavily, Saul would curl up in a ball against the seat. He was visually having a breakdown at the thought of not having the control of what was put into his body in past. He could only mutter versions of "They wanted to make a Corpo jedi... Those insane psychopaths wanted to build me into a corpo jedi..." As this went on, the lights in the cyborgs started to flicker aggressively, and then the radio turned on and off by itself, and then the power steering as Liin's handler muscled the car over towards a free landing pad, the car skidding to a stop just as the repulsorlifts gave out. Bailing out of the car, whatever hospital food that he had been eating went directly onto the pavement.

I furrowed my brows as I tried to understand why he would call himself a late bloomer. It did not make a lot of sense to me given that I know very little about my own abilities.

Unfortunately the calmness ended there. Saul let go of my hand and seemed to do whatever he could to make himself seem small. All the while he was muttering to himself; saying something about a corpo jedi. I have no idea of what that could mean for I have never heard that term before.

I felt it then before I could see it. Unlike the smell of static that often accompanied my useage of the synthetic force created by my serum; Saul's worked differently. The electrical interference was there; however it was different. Almost like the difference one can feel between hot water and cold.

The only smell that arrived afterwards was that of his vomit, which was thankfully done out side. I grabbed whatever tissue that I could find and moved myself to be downwind of the smell as I stood next to Saul and held it out for him. "
It is all right. Try not to be afraid of it. With luck it might just all disappear in time, and then you will be back to normal." I cannot begin to guess at what the experiments done on him entailed. With luck the serum that he had might not of contained Isotope-5; and so it could break down all the quicker. If anything I could at least give him a glimmer of hope.

As Saul looked down at the pavement, he felt something grow inside of him, something he couldn't stop... A surge was coming on and he couldn't stop it. Shutting his eyes, he had enough time to push Liin out of the danger zone before something incrediable and or horrifying depending on how you saw it. His eyes suddenly started to glow like they were on highbeams before bursts of electricy arch across his body. The cyborg needed to get this energy out somehow. And then he saw one of the landing lights. This is going to have to work... He tried to focus his mind on the lights like force sentivities did, sending the energy out arcing through his arms and striking the light in something like lighting strike, blowing it to smitherines. It was only then that Saul visibly relaxed, sagging over on his shorted out arms.

When Liin came back over, Saul tilted his head towards her while the handler looked shock speechless at what he just saw. The cyborg though just give a ghost of a smile like it was another day at the office. "I... think I'm safe to approach now..." As Liin came over once again, he let her wipe off the mess that was his vomit covered face and clothes, joking as flashing lights and sirens were seen and heard in the distance. "Its walking for us now huh...?" Ones knows that they weren't going to use that hovercar again.
