Affiliation:

Whatever faction holds it within their territory and whatever corporations that operate on them such as Arakyd Industries.

Major Locations:

Mechis City: This industrial city is the capital of Mechis III. Positioned on the north pole of the world and highly visible from space from quite a distance. It's vastly wide and cavernously deep city blocks rise higher and higher towards the city center. Mechis City serves as the planets administrative center and houses the largest manufacturing capacity of droids and droid parts. About 2/3rds of the population live and work here. Keeping the lights on, the assembly lines rolling, and all that paperwork shuffling machines can't do. It's a very busy place despite it's small human population. Millions, countless really droids flow here and there. Moving materials and finished product to and from the factories. A magrail system links it to the southern cities.

Mechyards: By far the most striking feature of the red world. The Mechyards are a gigantic shipyards facility ringing around the surface; anchored to the world by 13 space elevators. When they were constructed in the 2nd century ABY they were the most advanced shipyards in the galaxy. Besting KDY, Fondor, Dac, any of the other large starship manufacturers across the galaxy in production numbers and profit. Their massive industrial strength and armies of droids could simply do a better job, for less credits than the competition. They were so good at what they did they could churn out a 2 Km Star Destroyer in 7 weeks from start to finish. From one slipway, which there were many of.

Of course in their present state. The Mechyards are just a giant heap. It was the Gulag Virus that brought it to the state it's in. When civilization across the galaxy was struck down, no one ordered ships. They yards masters either died or hid away. Over the course of the period known as the 400 Years of Darkness. The Mechyards have been bombarded by micro meteors, raided by pirates and salvagers, and otherwise time itself has lead to what it is. The repair droids broke down, the shielding failed, much of the station is depressurized. Only the Alpha Space elevator south of Container Central was repaired and brought to operational status. It can receive ships that can't make it to the surface and provide minimal repair and fueling services. So despite it bring this planets striking feature. It's a spit in the face to Mechis III. Unlike the multitude of other large shipyards that either continued or were brought back to operation, this one hasn't been. There's no extensive estimation to what it would cost bring the shipyards back to full operational status, but it is figured that it would cost trillions of credits to do so. Maybe even a few quadrillions of credits. No one will really know until they try, and there's few entities who could spend that kind of cash without risking it all.

Container Central: This city is like a large warehouse. It serves as the shipping hub for Mechis III. Organizing it's massive inventory of goods and in-taking deliveries of raw materials, then distributing them out from it's magrail yards all over the world. Container also once served the Mechyards in this capacity. Sending all manner of starship parts from it's grand warehouses to the Alpha and Beta Space elevators south of the city.

Rusted Plains: East of Container Central lies the Rusted Plains. It's a vast and toxic field that supports no life. It is used as a dumping ground for the worlds waste. Millennia of dumping have piled up mountains of garbage, in the last few hundred years ruined starships and of course all manner of droid parts and other technologies. If one were looking for something old they needed, there's a chance, a needle in a haystack chance of finding what they may need here. Just make sure you wear a hazmat suit or some sealed armor and don't stray to far from your ride. You're out in the toxic elements of Mechis III after all.

Out and about in the Rusted Plains. Make sure to wear a breath mask in the outdoor environment!

Culture:

Most of the population are contractors or employees of the corporations that run the factories of Mechis III. While might find a few crazies out in the wastes or some folks involved in a niche business like salvage. The world is not a place were you come to live, only one where you come to work. It's been this way since the world became a planet sprawling factory. It's air polluted and the climate isn't one you want to be out in if you don't have to be. Still folks get by, they work their shifts, go home to their apartment blocks every day to unwind. Once they've run their contract or worked anywhere from 3 to 6 months they're rotated out and can enjoy their earnings off world for the same amount of time before coming back in.

There's not much in the way of art when your population are working most of the time and don't tend to stay around to set roots. What little there would be is from off world cultures. Mechis III is just a factory after all. There are sports though, intramural sports teams in Repulsor Puck, Water Hockey and Bolo Ball are popular recreational activities among the workers in their off time. Such facilities were build by the companies to keep their workers from becoming bored with life.

Mechis III has no army. Policing is done by the security officers of the corporations and many security droids that patrol the factories. In a crisis though many stocked war droids could be activated, or built if the threat necessitates it.

Religion is something personal you keep to yourself. There is no state religion here. Though many faiths are represented. No churches or places of worship exist on this rock.

Technology:

Mechis III is a highly technologically developed world. It is on the bleeding edge of robotics in the Galaxy. While it's infrastructure is old the machinery housed within can be very up to date to fit the needs of manufacturers. The workers and contractors are afforded many of the standards of Galactic living.

History:

Mechis III was once centrally involved in a plot by the droid IG-88 to enact a droid revolution and overthrow the Galaxy. While this plot failed, and is unknown to anyone in the Galaxy. Many droids were manufactured for the plot and distributed throughout the galaxy. We don't know how close we came to chaos here. The planet was returned to Organic control and business resumed as usual.

In the 2nd century ABY, the planet ringing Mechyards were built. These highly advanced shipyards out preformed their competitors in the warship game for nearly 200 years. The Gulag Virus and ensuing economic and civilization collapse lead to the yards sitting idle for centuries. Neglect and abuse turned it into the sorry state it sits in now.

In the current day. Droid production remains the primary focus of the planet. With such corporations such as Arakyd Industries running factories here.

Notable PCs: None of note.

Intent: To add a Cannon heavy industrial world on the map run by corporations for their use, and expand the fluff. A community project involving the shipyards to be put forth and completed.

This is an expansion on an original SW canon planet?

If so, please provide a link to the original planet wiki in the links category at the bottom of the submission.
