Culture: Mixture of Mandalorian, Jedi, and Republic elements brought by Iron Knight refugees mixed with Khazundi elements. Common holidays include the anniversary of formation of Iron Knights, anniversary of conclusion of Mandalorian Crusades, Khazandi holiday of Fire, and the annual bolo-ball championships.

Technology: Considered advanced, the Iron Knight refugees introduced the native Khazundi blaster weaponry, Verpine shatterguns and shields used at the time by the Republic in combat against Sith to absorb the common lightning attacks and lightsabers, interstellar travel, and droid manufacturing. Ever since then, the Mecha have advanced in the fields of magnet-based coil guns, anti-energy shields, metal working and smiting, droid manufacturing, and blaster technology.
From their relationship with the Iron Knights, Khazundi became quickly modernized, so quick, in fact, that industry and technology became a big focus of their culture, especially commercialism and material possessions. Quickly advancing in mining technology and metal working to make full use of their metal-rich planet, it was not enough for Khazandi, they began working with Mecha to reverse-engineer the Old Republican ships and starfighters the Mecha brought with them in order to develop their own methods of inter-stellar travel.
Overcame by their greed and focused on mining, the Khazundi did not even notice as their ecosystem began degrading due to huge amounts of pollution. Their inter-stellar program culminated in the manufacturing of a fleet of ships known as "Khazund-Exur" designed to evacuate the Khazundi off of their homeplanet to spread to other planets in order to escape the degradation of their planet's atmosphere. This split resulted in Khazundi having more advanced inter-stellar technology than the Mecha who were far happier to isolate themselves from the rest of the Galaxy rather than join it. The Khazundi have also advanced themselves in fields of heavy blaster weaponry, body armor, and mining.

History: The Mechanus has been originally known as Khazund, the planet at first populated by a race of Khazund-Daran, smith and miners who used the Force in crafting their goods using primitive forms of alchemy.
The Khazund have been developed into a mix of late Medieval and early Victorian stages of technology when they made their first contact with the Iron Knight refugees. After the inspection of the planet and establishing cooperation with Iron Knights, the refugees settled to stay on the planet and make it their new home due to the high quantities of valuable metals on the planet, the industrial and metal working skills of the Khazundi, and their affinity with mining.
In their cooperation Khazundi agreed for the Mecha to build their facilities underground while Khazundi were free to continued mine in hills and mountains. Mecha introduced Khazundi to much more advanced technology, including blasters and lasers they adopted to quickly advance their industrial and mining processes. The Khazundi focused quickly on their growing commercialism and industry, either not noticing or ignoring the quickly eroding ecosystem of their planet due to the pollution from Mecha generators and reactors, foundries and manufacturing plants, as well as Khazundi industry.

Khazund was once a lush planet very similar to Earth although with much rockier terrain and richer in metals. Once the degradation of the ecosystem kicked in, the atmosphere degrades into a 3 grade atmosphere, killing off most of the native species. Currently, only the Jehzen, Khovaa, and Ghablaresh Fungi survived the ecological disaster in deep tunnels and systems of caves.

To escape the collapse of their ecosystem, the Khazund-Daran worked together with the Mecha to built a fleet of starships, at first meant for simple spread of their Empire, later hastily converted into transport ships in order to evacuate as much of the Khazundi as possible before the disaster.

Currently, Mechanus as it became called is an arid and inhospitable place. Covered in what appears to be thermal vents, volcanoes, rocky mountains, deserts, and dotted with abandoned ruins of Khazundi cities.

However, underneath the hostile surface, there are planet-wide networks of deep tunnels, foundries, and generators to power both droids and their facilities. The entrances to those tunnels can be found in Khazundi ruins, and most of the gas vents and volcanoes are actually heat exhaust vents from the numerous Mecha facilities.
Most Mecha are deactivated, referred to as "asleep", with their consciousness and identities living in virtual world, only a small percent of the Mecha are "awake" taking care of the energy generating facilities and maintaining databanks and droid vessels.
Mechanus has fallen into obscurity since Khazundi left its surface, Mecha refusing to join the Galactic society, instead preferring to be left alone in peace on their planet to continue their existence without disturbance.
After Gulag Plague there has been little to no connections that revealed where the location of the Mechanus was.

Notable PC's: HK-36 (By association, considered a symbol but without any actual power)

Intent: To provide IC location for HK and his copies, tying in the events of his past, explaining what happened to them after he left Mechanus, and to provide an end point to his quest in which he is trying to find the location of mythical Mechanus.
