SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Meathook - On the underbelly of the Meatshot Shotgun is a launcher containing an agrinium "meathook" and around fifteen meters worth of chains wrapped around each other in a tightly packed oval spiral. The meathook itself resembles a small rectangle with two large, sharp prongs extending out its front that allows the meathook to grab onto flesh or loose surfaces. The Meatshot Shotgun has two triggers - when the rear trigger is pulled, the meathook is propelled out of its launcher by a powerful burst of air generated by the launcher, which is linked to the shotgun's cooling system. If left uninterrupted, the meathook will travel at around 40 km/h for 15 meters before its chain runs out and the hook comes to a sudden halt. Pressing the rear trigger again at this point will rapidly rewind the chain, bringing the hook back in around four seconds. If attached to an object or being, pressing the rear trigger a second time will pull the wielder of the Meatshot Shotgun towards the object. However, if the target is lighter than the being who fired the meathook, then the target will instead be pulled towards the wielder of the Meatshot Shotgun. The Meatshot Shotgun can fire while its meathook is deployed. As long as the shotgun is not overheated, the meathook has infinite uses.
  • Double Trigger - The Meatshot Shotgun has two triggers within its trigger guard. The first, located in the front and closest to the shotgun's barrels, fires the shotgun itself when pulled. The second barrel, located in the rear of the trigger guard, fires the meathook when pulled. Both triggers can be pulled at the same time.
STRENGTHS

  • Double Trouble - With two barrels that are fired simultaneously, the Meatshot Shotgun can pack a considerable punch, and do so in a larger radius.
  • Shredder - The Meatshot Shotgun excels at close range combat, being able to rip through organic tissue like a lightsaber through glass. Larger targets can be torn through just as easily, as the shotgun's wide radius makes it more efficient when targeting a larger enemy mass.
  • Meathook - The Meatshot's meathook gives it a unique advantage - it can grant its user a significant mobility boost by functioning as a grappling hook, or can be used to skewer flesh and draw an enemy in towards the shotgun's range.
WEAKNESSES

  • Double Appetite - Similarly to other double-barrel shotguns, the Meatshot Shotgun eats through ammunition very rapidly and has a small clip. Consequently, extended engagements can lead to frequent reloading, leaving the user vulnerable and potentially short on charges that could be used on more sustainable weaponry.
  • Kickback - Another downside the Meatshot shares with most double-barrel shotguns is a high recoil due to two shells being fired at once. Maintaining accuracy can be difficult when using the Meatshot Shotgun frequently.
  • Dull Fork - The Meatshot's meathook has very poor armor penetration qualities, and consequently bounces off most basic infantry armor plates even when at full speed. Additionally, the meathook can be severed by slicing at its chains, which are vulnerable to most basic melee and ranged weapons. When grappling onto a surface, the meathook has a weight limit of around 100 kg, with any being heavier than such wielding the meathook causing the hook to fail to move or even break apart from its chain.
  • Definition Of Shotgun - While the Meatshot excels at close-range combat, its capabilities rapidly detoriate the further away its target is. If a target is more than 5 meters away, it is practically ineffectual.
DESCRIPTION

While Outer Rim had made plenty of rifles and explosive weaponry, they had yet to enter the shotgun market. Seeing a potential new industry to hop into, ORME decided to make their own shotgun model.
At first, there were dozens of different ideas, from a high-capacity semi-auto shotgun to a versatile shotgun that could hold nearly two dozen different varieties of ammunition. The planning process was intense and full of competing ideas; however, one soon began to stand out. A double-barrel shotgun and grappling hook hybrid, promoted by a branch of ORME in the Corellia system, was greenlighted and later approved as an official blueprint.

After about a month of development, a reliable model was completed. Shipping began in earnest, and the profits began to roll in...
