I do find it really funny that Maul's gripe with the Empire seems to be that they wasted a sith empire turning it into a beauracracity nightmare instead of building blood pyramids and committing to the sith aestetic.

I am not confident in Disney to release a show or Star Wars product that isn't mired by somewhat cool moments and overall a lackluster story. Everything post TFA, with the exception of season 1-2 Mando, has been a perfect 'meh'. I find myself less and less enthused by Star Wars media, and more focused on the 'could have beens' of Legends and the wealth of material they had to go off of there. Even with something as good as the High Republic which ended on a whimper. While I enjoy Maul and other characters, I know their journey, I know their end, I know what happens. Something new, something fresh, and new characters instead of dangling memberberries in front of me feels a lot better than just 'ah ha, you've seen this character before, but now, he's different! he's got different stuff! and he's doing different things!'.
