I was waiting for this, since I asked Mara for feedback via my critique thread and this happened. So I was scrambling a bit as I wasn't expecting it, to be honest. I was actively working for it to happen, but was refusing to ask outright, as if I had to do so, then in my mind I hadn't made the impact a Master should.
OOCly? It won't mean much, to be honest. I find that the rank of Master is largely an IC thing, so it shouldn't change my link/approach to his writing. It won't change my planned arcs for him with other writers. Some of them might start to happen sooner in timeline, because I've held off throwing too much at them until ICly I am recognized a Master. Things like seriously pushing the Green Jedi/Corellian front or the Academy on Socorro seemed more fitting for a Master than a Knight.
It would be nice to have a Master ranked character on this board, but it won't change how I approached the character from an OOC stand point. I honestly might hold off on him being ICly a Master until I learn a few more lightsaber forms even, as I feel he could use a bit more polish in that area. I wasn't planning on this happening, so I haven't considered it from that perspective.
ICly? It would help cement Julius. I've played him as in a state of flux for a while now, morality wise. He was super-duper Lightside in the beginning, trying pretty hard to recapture his youth before time in the Outer Rim changed him for the worse. Trying hard to tow that orthodox jedi line. And, as I stated in my feedback... The events in the dom w/ the Jenasaari began to change him. He began to realize, to him, that words without action directly backing them up were no good. And deeds that conflicted or made the words a lie were useless.
That led to him reconnecting to his roots, going back to his childhood and his hot-headed, smart allic ways. Putting the little man before the big machine, so to speak... Being more of a man of the people than a man of the temple, if that works better. Doesn't matter what flag you wave, or what book you read. What do you do is what he cares about. That culminates in his recent duel with Keira Ticon, and realizing that absolutism in morality isn't any better just because of what side of the issue you are advocating or what dogma you spit out. He's still decidedly of the Light, but that's him and his views. Not his issue anymore unless you affect him and his, or those who can't stand for themselves.
This promotion ICly? Only means he's going to keep his head down less about his views. So far he has tried to at least tow the line in public. If he is a Master? When people order things done he doesn't agree with, he'll speak up. He'll question. Actively oppose, if he feels he must. He'll be pushing the Corellia thing a lot more vocally, and I intend to try and lead some raids, expeditions, and house a sort of 'cultural' center if possible, though that will apt be on a starship I am looking to snag rather than Socorro.
Socorro, as a small academy for Blademan/women of the various ranks of Jedi and Grays (it'd be hellaciously hard to convince him to train a Dark Sider), will be advanced too. It will be where his personal home is when he's not out gallivanting around. I have been OOCly working on a holocron to aid in training that, and ICly when he is a Master he will find that and begin to formalize training and instruction there and actively try to find a pupil or two for there.
Oh, and if he's a Master? He might stop drinking and womanizing as much, try and make a better public impression in that regard.
