I've prepared myself for this.
OOCly, I actually wrote to another person to ask if I could be considered to be put on a Master vote or if I needed to do more work, just to know how much I’ve progressed. But before they could answer, Jacen put up this nomination, which totally came to me as a surprise. I have had to do self-nominations and things like that to get promoted in the past and even the thought of somebody else noticing and thinking I’ve reached a new ’level’ makes me feel warm inside.
I have to be honest, Master level only changes the fact that now I have a fancier rank tag and I can participate in Master votes (which I’ve started to miss ever since resigning as an RPJ). No more than that. But the fact that people think I am ready is indeed an amazing thing, which I am grateful for.
ICly, I myself believe Lilin is ready to become a Master, mostly because of how much she has advanced. The whole development she’s done is amazing. She started as a poor little soul who didn’t even know who she was. Now she has reached the state where she still doesn’t know who she is, but for a completely different reason.
If one read Lilin’s threads, they would get to read a story of a person fighting against the Dark Side inside and falling into deep depression because of that. However, she has managed to follow her philosophy and acquire a deeper understanding of the Force along the journey. I am not saying she is there yet – she would still require lots of training and studying, but like we all know, a person (even a character) never stops learning new things.
She is not a great teacher and she knows that. That’s exactly why she has decided not to actually train Padawans, but to oversee their training and take them on missions and travels and adventures. She knows where are her limits and she tries to improve on the knowledge. In more recent times, she’s been a little bit stagnant since she can’t go on with her life due to depression.
But what’s more important is what she’ll do as a Master. Being a Master is a sign of great respect and even more responsibility, at least to Lilin. She doesn’t think she’s ready – because she thinks one can never be ready for anything. The point is to use every opportunity and take risks, which she has been doing for a while now.
Being a Master would not change who Lilin is – and even though it would make a huge difference in her life, she would still have a long way to go. She would just know that she has the respect of others and is deemed responsible. And for her as well, becoming a Master would be something amazing, as well as something she thinks would show her potential, willingness to work and more than that, great reputation as a good Jedi/Lightsided force user.
I hope that answered your question.
