HISTORY
Young Jake grew up one of four children on a farm on Ukio. The farm was part of the local agricorp, and all the children worked. When the Jedi came to the farm to look at the youngest brother, he managed to hide his talents, closing in upon himself. Rarely, the Jedi who had come, left empty handed.

The boy managed to conceal his talents until an accident forced him to reveal himself. A water tower collapsed, and would have fallen on his mother, but for his interference. The incident occured in front of many onlookers, and so the secret could not be kept. The Jedi were contacted, and Jake was taken away to be trained.

At the Jedi Academy, he was selected by Master Bast, a Besalisk, for training. jake was most unenthusiastic at first, missing his family, his farm, and disliking the harsh Master set over him. Bast seemed utterly ruthless and implacable at first. He set the young man hard physical tasks, repetitive and draining. Discipline was enforced, but one day jake angrily asked when he would be taught how to fight.

If Jake had thought lifting rocks was hard, the punishing regimen that his irascible four armed and vastly more experienced opponent unleashed upon him awakened the young man to a new and harsh reality. Pain, exhaustion, and repeated reminders of humility brought, in time, patience and self-reliance. As an Apprentice, he sometimes trained with other Apprentices and Padawans. Young Jake found that he was more than capable against much older and tougher students. Thanks to the many hours fighting a skilled and tough four armed opponent, he'd grown to outstrip most of his peers with a lightsaber.

By the time he was deemed ready to take the trials of a Jedi Knight, the bond between Master and Apprentice was forged, and made strong. The young Jedi now understood why his Master had been so hard from the outset. It had taught him to forget his past, and to let go of every attachment. The physical experience and toughening up had merely been a bonus. It had been hard, but done with love, and patience, and understanding. The young man had learned to control his emotions, and to resonate calm. He had let go of his anger with his attachments.

Knight Jake's final and most harrowing lesson was the death of Master Bast, not in combat or through foul play, but quietly, in his own bed. He had been old when he took up the burden of teaching and moulding Jake, who would be his last trainee. Even knowing his Master was going into the Force, it was hard for the now grown man and Jedi Knight to let go of the bond with his only true friend in life. Dealing with his own grief and loss was his toughest trial, greater than any fight he had ever faced.

When he walked into the meeting of the Jedi Council and expressed his readiness to become a Master, Jake surprised many of the older, senior, and perhaps wiser Jedi. It was not unheard of for a Knight to raise their own candidacy, but it was rare. Humility was valued. The by now experienced Knight knelt before his peers. They examined him, and his thread in the Living and Cosmic Force. They were somewhat surprised with what they sensed, though they did not deign to share it with the supplicant. Finally, one of them spoke for them all.

"We affirm you with the rank of Master. But, we do not grant you a seat on this council. There is a great disturbance in the Force which surrounds you. Out there, you must go. Seek it out, or let it seek you out. Go with the Force, Master Judah."

Promotion, and exile, all in one turn. He was young for a Master, but well older than the record. Jake's anticipation and excitement had been tempered, or they would not have made him a Master, but it was further cooled by the knowledge that he had to leave the Order for now, and seek out fate in the wider galaxy. Granted the use of an old gunship named the Legacy, the exiled Master made the ship his new home.

Eventually his wanderings took him to the Hapes Cluster, where he was instrumental in interrupting an ancient dark side ritual that could have caused a disaster. The dark side cultists were intending to detonate a star inside the cluster which if ignited would trigger a chain of supernovae and rip Hapan space to shreds. The ritual was halted, and many of the cultists killed, with Hapan Security arriving in time to aid jake's escape from the cult.

The hunt in Hapes had taken many years, and almost cost him his arm and leg. Months of bacta therapy and all the best medical science weren't able to restore his body fully. Though he was whole, and undiminished in the Force, jake's arm and leg were never fully healed right.

Jake felt the time was right, in the Force as much as in his gut, to return to the Jedi Order, and see how things had progressed. He had the urge to become a teacher, to do for others what Master Bast had done for him. Changing lives for the better.
