Strengths & Weaknesses
Expert Pilot - From a young age, Mark always knew he wanted to fly. He got his start with swoop racing, and his latent Force power granted him a significant advantage over normal racers. When he officially began training as a pilot, the young man felt at home in the cockpit of a starfighter.
Peak Human - After an extensive training regimen, Mark's physical abilities are at the level of a peak human. His strength, durability, agility, reflexes, and speed are twice as better than the average human in his prime.
Master Swordsman - Ever since he started his training, Mark gravitated towards dual-lightsaber combat. He favored the Ataru and Niman lightsaber forms, and used their dual-blade regimens to improve his skill in the style. His bladework is reinforced by Force-based attacks that he would chain into his sequences. To fit his odd nature, Mark prefers to use the unorthodox Shien-style reversed grip.
Reckless - Mark is not exactly the most patient person. His self-preservation instinct is lacking, and he tends to rush head first into danger without forming a plan first. This tends to get him into trouble more often than it doesn't.
Smart Mouth - He has a tendency to talk trash or make some kind of smart-ass comment when he gets nervous. Much like his recklessness, this habit gets him into trouble pretty often.
Cybernetics - Mark has a pair of cybernetic eyes and an arm. Even though they are resistant against EMPs, they aren't immune and can be disabled. Because of this, he can be rendered blind. This can be a bit of a problem because he isn't any good at Force Sight.
Mark Starlighter was the younger son of a Hell Jumper in the Corellian Defense Force turned smuggler, and a Jedi Knight. He had an older sister called Liana who was in high school. When he was five years old, the boy's father ran afoul of the Hutts and got himself encased in carbonite. His mother got herself killed when trying to negotiate peace between a pair of rival gangs that went to war with each other. Because of this, Mark and his older sister ended up on the streets. For the next few months, they survived by stealing the things they needed from people. When he was seven, the two kids got picked up by a different street gang called the Backstreet Reds. The woman in charge was called Lady Vector.
She took them in, and Liana became a Runner. Her job was to deliver packages and documents back and forth between the different cells the gang had. Mark would work on the gang's swoop bikes under the mentorship of Dell Conagher. The boy graduated to swoop bike piloting, and received a bike of his own. He participated in several black market deals and since he was part of a swoop gang, took part in some of their illegal annual races. When he was thirteen, a deal being made with a rival gang regarding some illegally obtained, high-grade cybernetics went sour fast. The teen made a hasty retreat, informed Vector about the bad trade via encrypted comm link, and continued running to lose the enforcers and make sure they aren't led back to Vector.
During this whole ordeal, Mark ran into a Jedi Knight from the Republic who was on the planet for business.
