[SIZE=9pt]After the commission of the Cathedra-class Carrier Dreadnought, the Imperial Armada, and particularly those sworn to the service of Colonel Joycelyn Zambrano, were left with a significant issue. They had a mighty ship with very little firepower. Now, the Imperial Armada does have many ships focused on armament, but one Captain suggested they take it one step further: Build designated cruisers to accompany the Cathedra, tailored to match and complement it; The first such ship was the Manticore-class Cruiser.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Sacrificing the hangar space usually granted to fighter squadrons and instead filling them with weapons and stripping down the armour to increase speed and manoeuvrability, the Manticore-class is entirely dedicated to filling up the Cathedra’s blind-spots, even if it means making themselves vulnerable to counter-attack. However, the cruiser's speed and mobility is theorised to make up for the compromised defences by out-[/SIZE]manoeuvring the enemy's targeting systems and out-gunning their shields before they can strike back.
[SIZE=9pt]Due to its exposed position, the Manticore runs with a relatively small crew and is rumoured to attract a strange crew of zealots, seemingly willing to lay their lives on the line to strike out against enemies of the Empire.[/SIZE]
