Andras Garon first encountered Phase-Knives during his exploits throughout the galaxy as an Operative for one of the older Mandalorian Empires. During this time and as part of his role within the Mando'ade he was also at odds with several Jedi and Sith operatives whom he occasionally met in battle. Seeking a weapon that would allow him to meet the traditional lightsaber of the Jedi on fairly even terms he modified an existing Phase-Knife and created a Phase-Balde.
The Phase-Blade still utilizes much of the same technology that the typical Phase-Knife does however Andras has modified it using the same principles as a dual phase lightsaber without the khyber crystals. Instead of crystals the Phase-Blade utilizes a secondary focusing module for the molecular shield used to form the blade allowing it to increase in length from the typical phase-knife but retain all the other properties. For all intensive purposes a Phase-Blade is just an upgraded, longer version of the Phase-Knife.
A Phase-Blade is approximately 24'-36' inches when activated dependent on the users preference. Just like a Phase-Knife the length is adjustable within the parameters of the presets. It is also nigh weightless, not unlike a lightsaber due to the fact that only the handle is weighted. Andras created the blade with the primary purpose of engaging the Jedi on similar footing and with a similar weapon and while the blade is not ideal against heavily armored opponents it is more than capable against lightly or unarmored foes.

- Lightsaber resistant: The Phase-Blade utilizes technology almost identical to the Phase-Knife and similar to that resembling lightsaber designs. Due to the similar technologies used it is also resistant to a lightsaber in combat.
[*]Sharpness: Due to the molecular shield used to form the razor sharp blade of the weapon it is extremely sharp, sharper than a vibroblade.
[*]Weightless: Only the handle is solid ensuring that the Phase-Blade is extremely light. When activated the blade is essentially weightless.
[*]Cortosis Resistant: The Phase-Blade utilizes technologies similar to those found in the lightsaber however the phase-blade is not a lightsaber and does not deactivate upon contact with Cortosis like the traditional lightsaber would.
- Difficult to Wield: Like a Lightsaber a Phase-Blade requires extensive training to wield properly. Due to its extremely light weight the blade can be unwieldly and awkward in the hands of those not properly trained in its use. Improper use can lead to injury, or even death if mishandled.
[*]Limited cutting power: A Phase-Blade is not a Lightsaber, it cannot cut through heavy armor or metals like a lightsaber nor can it deflect blaster fire, etc. Due to its composition and the similar technologies the Phase-Blade is lightsaber resistant however its primary function is to deal killing blows to organic targets which is where it excels.
