- Splashback: The shield will start to glow as it is struck by energy weapons. This can be trigger to break the shield which discharged energy directly ahead of the wielder, this can strike with enough force to throw someone from their feet and cause minor injuries, but the shield must then go through a power cycle (see weaknesses)

Inspired by Mandalorian designs and because his skill with a lightsaber is lacking compared to his peers, Makko constructed a wrist mounter personal energy shield.
Rather than forming a small buckler, Makko opted for something closer to a full kite shield. As he does not typically wear heavy armour, this provides him some defence against blaster fire across his body.
The splashback was an accidental discovering. Makko fixed the problem, once he had picked himself back up and remembered which day it was. However, he then found a way to channel the energy forwards deliberately. This does break the shield, so would only be used if absolutely necessary.
