LOA Making it official

As some of you know, our dog hasn't been doing well. We were looking into treatment options for her, but are now having to look into end of life care instead.

For obvious reasons, I am taking an LoA to spend time with my family and dog before we have to say goodbye to her.

I'm sorry to those I'm in threads with, especially any group threads. Please just skip over Briana and continue on without me.

Ciao, bellas

So, suffice to say that this has been an incredibly stressful week. One heatstroke, a trip to the ER, and a concussion later, and after calling several places trying to find a suitable place to put down our girl, we were finally told by a vet tech about the option to take her down to the SPCA for an emergency surrender to get her the operation she needed. It felt very bitter sweet and was its own kind of grief, but the best option if it meant she could live.

Once we got down there, we were informed that we could potentially reclaim her once they determined she was fit for surgery and she came out of it okay (still having to pay for the surgery, but at a much more doable and reasonable price than any of the vets and/or hospitals we called). If they determined she wasn't fit for surgery, they would put her down, but the choice was officially out of our hands.

Waited the last three days to see what way the dice would roll, then finally got the call that we can come down to pick her up. Huge relief. Very happy this was the end result. Thankful for that vet tech who told us this was a potential option when we ran out of hope and were ready to give up.

That said, I will be taking care of her post-surgery, so I will still be on LoA for at least the next week.

Thanks to everyone who has reached out and for being understanding.
