The light show of the barrage was quit something, but the shield held, made sense it was probably made for planetary defense, to resist large scale and spread out bombardment and all that. This would be tricky, but Alex had an interesting idea, "that does sound reasonable, these shields are not really meant to take various fire, more over and entire area evenly dispersing". Hey another possible market to look into, planetary shields, that would fall under space combat right? and land too.

Shaking his head Harley concentrated on the battle, business stuff could wait for later, even if that was really his field, battle commander was not really something a planetary senator should be doing... not like this was the CIS. "Oki doki poki, listen up everyone focus fire on sector 5 or what ever on the shield, make it feel like a woman stamping on your foot with a high heal"! The tanks complied easily, the blue laser cannon streaks flying into a single area on the shield. "Is it working? feels and looks like its working fam".

Once she'd had what he assumed was an appropriate amount of time to make contact, he approached the rear door to the church and used the Force to trip the locking mechanism. Slipping inside, he found himself in a rear hall that bordered on the cathedral space. Nobody was about so he quietly closed the door, locking it behind him, and moved down the hall at a quiet and comfortable pace.

When he reached the next door he felt within for signs of life vut found none. Opening the door, he entered what appeared to be the Chaplain's office. It was full of Force based memorabilia as one would expect. On the desk were several books of flimsi, all about the usual topics. He ignored those and tapped on the datapad on the desk. He wasn't that good with technology but Corvus had at least taught him how to utilize thr devices to access messages that were sent back and forth between users.

Sure enough, there was some suspicious activity. And it came from a Republic operative associated with the senate. That wasn't good. He pocketed the datapad, as it was now official evidence of conspiracy and his work with local law enforcement and Republic judicial forces meant he had a right to confiscate evidence when discovered.

Leaving the office, he went down the hall and opened another door. Inside was a set of stairs leading down. That was different. The Church, to his knowledge, didn't utilize catacombs for burial. He sent a quick mental message to Lilla about whst he had found and where he was going. If he didn't come back in a certain amount of time she would know that something was wrong and could either come and help him or go get help herself. He, meanwhile, went down.

Lilla felt she was being measured by the man of the cloth. Her robes looked authentic - maybe too authentic - and she had made sure her saber was hidden from view. It was one thing to appear to be a Force worshipper, quite another to be an obvious Jedi.

When the man spoke, Lilla sensed he was guarded. She lowered her defences to better gauge his thoughts and emotions. He was clearly strong-willed, as his thoughts were not obvious to Lilla, but his emotions he could not keep in check.

Suspicion was foremost. Then a small amount of hostility. This may be due to Barrien's recent exercise in seeking the truth.

She smiled. "Is it true that the Jedi Code is little more than chains, to bind the Jedi to servitude? Someone told me that, and it sounds barbaric. Please tell me it's not true."

Lilla didn't necessarily listen to his response, she was concentrating on Barrien, who was letting her know he was about to do something risky. She'd given him enough time to find something - and if she heard nothing from him, she'd be obliged to go looking.

"It wont break through that shield, not quite that easily but from what I can tell such an idea is possible to create a hole for a short amount of time until the shield can compensate and rebuild its fallen section. The opening would be short though and if a missile could be fired into the breach or a team snuck in to sabotage the shields, it would be far more effective of a strategy." She tapped her hand as she watched and tried to record how long it took for the break in the shield to close and reinforce to its prior strength. These shields cycled energy but still worked in such a way where sections could be targeted and destroyed for a brief time.

"I am uncertain as to if your men can take advantage of such a brief time though, as I am unfamiliar with the capabilities or Republic Commando teams, but I am certain your people are quick to surprise and prove me wrong. Am I correct?" She smiled at Harley, a mischievous little demon dancing in her eyes as she wanted to know if they could do it or if a missile would need to be used in the end. She wondered how this man, this Echani might react in mind and body to her idea.

Alexandra was not a military strategist, never was she trained to be one and never did she take up such studies, one of the few she did not find a use for. She was a hermit, and a Jedi some of the time. She was no grand jedi lord, no admiral or general, no warlord or tyrant. She was a simple Echani woman, who had died and been brought back to live a separated and hollow life helping others. But, she was also a scientist, and one that enjoyed to observe how their ideas and hypothesis' might come true. And this was one such moment with her curious as to if the shields could be sabotaged by a team, rather than jumping to destruction.

"Did you say hole big enought to send a missile through"? he said, a wide smile appearing on his face, eye looking over to the PzNo8's side turret missile launchers. It was a sound idea, commandos or even droids would probably not be able to reach that shield in a timely manner and take out the defenses but a missile, well quite a few would have not problem. The slight glimmer in Alex's eyes and excited movement made Harley think she wanted the latter to be the choose of action, an he was not going to disappoint, after all who did not like explosions.

"I can have all the Maus's fire their missiles into the breach once it falls, perhaps the damage of such a volley could disturb the palace enough to make the barrier fluctuate enough to down the shield and send through the armored IX's to". Said armored car able to carry troops to the front lines with their quick speed, being sort of an APC and tank all in one, well armored to, though not as armored as a Maus, but it go the job done. "Just say the word an I'll give the order... a sorry used to asking for orders, keep forgetting your just a Jedi and not a general and all".

The whole way the Republic worked meaning that Jedi needed to actually join the military to gain rank, even if the Jedi where allowed a representative in the senate after the vote that took place. it seemed like an interesting development but so far it seemed to push most Jedi away from the military, not able to mix time between training and military work at the same time. Though it was probably not best to have Jedi leading all aspect of the armed forces, but making it to difficult for them to join could produce problems in the long run, especially if the Sith came knocking at their door.

Barrien descended the stairs slowly, watching in front of him in case someone appeared. No one did until he reached the bottom, where the enclosed stair opened to reveal a long chamber beneath the chapel. Columns supported the floor above, but what drew his attention were the cots full of people with visors over their heads. These visors seemed to be causing reactions, but the people wearing them were strapped down on the beds, meaning they couldn't remove them if they wanted to. He noticed that each was hooked to an IV line, meaning they were being kept sound of body through intravenous means, and probably didn't leave the cots to eat. Which also explained the smell. The bed pans needed to be changed.

He held a hand over his face and walked to the first of the cots. Nobody seemed to be tending to them, but that didn't mean someone wouldn't be coming soon. It could also be that the room was under surveillance from cameras that he didn't see, but he doubted that. This seemed to be an operation that even a closed circuit camera system would be capable of compromising. Not that he knew that, but he didn't think he was being watched from what he could see.

The first person he reached was a young woman with long, red hair splayed out on the cot. Her head was shaking and she was quietly whimpering, so he reached down and removed the visor. She looked up at him, blinked, and then squeezed her eyes shut, not making a sound. Whether she thought he was responsible for this or not he didn't know. What he did know was that she was afraid. He held up the visor and looked inside to see images and words flashing across the screen. Some were violent and some were calm, but the words overall seemed to be emphasizing a particular brand of Force ideology. He threw the visor down, then crushed it under his boot before undoing her restraints.

Before he could reach to release her, though, he felt something connect with the back of his head, and then he slumped over, knocked unconscious, because he'd let his guard down and hadn't heard the man coming down the stairs.

Her eyes grew bright, the gold in them flaring up as she looked at Harley with a bit of excitement on her face. Jedi or not now, Alexandra had been an Echani at one time, and she had been a warrior for far longer than a Jedi. Old habits and excitement died hard for her and the thought of the battle picking up made her jealous of not being the one on the ground. Even after losing her arms, being skewered several times, shot, hit with a bomb, and so many other injuries in her past, she couldn't shake that battle lust that she enjoyed. Something was truly wrong with her mental state, something she knew already as she seemed to have a death wish in putting herself through battles and wars like it was a weekend sports game.

Her eyes then turned back the shield as she watched it and rubbed her chin. "You have to make certain those missiles are timed right, otherwise it will be a wasted effort and they might realize what is happening, preparing a secondary shield layer to stop further attempts. It would appear the hole remains large enough for the Maus' missiles for roughly... six seconds from what I can tell, which means you would need to fire the missile while still striking the shield. If timing is off at all the missile might hit the shield too late as it recovers or simply slam into the shield before it even opens up for the weapon to be sent through."

She thought on the matter and grinned wide as she fished out a drive from one of her pockets.

"If you do not mind, please connect this to your targeting systems. She can run these calculations and time the firing far better than you or I could ever hope to. After all, we are but simple humans, she is far more." Alexandra held up the drive that contained Eve, an AI Alexandra had been forced to recover and carry with her after no longer able to maintain the woman's clone bodies that Alexandra had at one time kept for Eve. It was a sad fact that came with her situation, but she atleast made certain the AI had some fun from time to time.

The priest narrowed his eyes and looked over Lilla’s shoulder – as if seeking someone else. For her part, Lilla kept her eyes firmly on the man’s face.

He appeared distracted and did not answer directly.

Lilla prompted him again, the smile never leaving her face. “Jed…Code…chains?”

“Yes, yes,” he said and his face relaxed, as if coming to a decision that Lilla was no threat. “Well, the thing is–“

He did not finish his sentence, as a young man came up behind him and whispered into his ear. If he was angry or concerned, his face did not give it away – but the emotions emanating from his mind – did. The old man nodded and the younger robed figure walked swiftly away, towards the back of the church and through a doorway.

“The thing is,” he repeated, before Lilla held up a hand to stop him.

“The thing is, I am a Jedi,” she pulled back her cloak to reveal her saber. “And I fear someone is in trouble, unless I intervene.”

No sooner had she finished the last word than she’d spun the man around, placed one cuff on his wrist and another on the end of one of the pews. “We can finish out philosophical debate when I get back. Meanwhile, you can deal with real shackles.”

With a jog, she followed the younger man through the open doorway. Once through it, she saw a rear entrance and stairs leading down. Taking these, she heard the sound of a muffled thud and then the noise of a heavier thump – as if someone had fallen to the floor.

Sprinting forward, Lilla saw the young priest standing over Barrien, cudgel in hand.

“In one sense, you should not have done that,” Lilla said, “But in another, it saves a lot of questioning to ascertain your guilt.”

The young priest raised his cudgel, before Lilla unclipped her saber. His eyes transformed from determined to startled in a split second. His confession came spewing out – whilst Lilla cuffed him and then turned her attention to Barrien.

She was no Force Healer, but a simple concussion was within her capabilities, so she pushed the Force into the prone body of her comrade and allowed the midi-chlorians to do the rest.

It didn't take long for her to rouse him from the mechanically forced slumber. He winced as he looked up at her. The room was a blur and his head hurt a bit still, but it was dissipating thanks to her efforts. After a few moments of allowing himself to adjust, he sat up and looked around, spotting the guy that Lilla had cuffed. Most likely the same guy that had done him in. Worst possible thing he could have done, really.

"Try and help a lass out and get conked on the head for it," he said, lifting a hand to rub at his skull.

Turning his attention back to Lilla he offered a sheepish grin.

"Thanks for the help."

When he was certain that he wouldn't make a fool of himself he stood. At first everything spun, but he held his arms outward to help with his balance and recovered. He hadn't heard everything his assailant said to Lilla, but that wasn't his first priority either. Instead, he moved over to where the girl was on the cot and reached down to shake her shoulder lightly. She stirred, peeked open an eye, looked at him, and then looked around. When she saw the guy in cuffs she squeaked and slammed her eyes shut again.

Barrien frowned and reached in his pocket to pull out a datapad, which he offered to Lilla.

"I'm not the best with technology, but I think you'll find some important messages on there from a senate related account. I'm pretty sure someone in our government is having these people counter-brainwashed."

The way Alex's eye lit up at the mention of missiles caused Harley to snigger a little, like the woman was a small child in a candy store, but that was just an Echani thing, combat was life for them. Even a person like Harley who had not spent much time on the battlefield the thought of a coming fight made him all excited and eager. Still it was not going to be an easy feet, something Alex picked on quite quickly, the woman certainly had an eye for detail, for better or for worse. "I know, and the Maus tanks only carry two each, means kind of have very limited shots at this thing, what do you suppose we do in addition to accurate timing".

He half expect the Jedi to whip out some fancy force trick or leave it up to him, but an AI was not something high on the list of expectations, "Sure ill hand it to the pilots, she can sync up to the other vehicles right"? Maybe, but all the AI had to do was make the calculations for one tank and the rest would just have to copy, but either way it was a good plan, Harley quickly running over to the nearest tank, handing the AI container the commander. "Thing make calculation, help make big boom, put in tank coolie", "I know what an AI is senator, leave it to us, just sit back and watch the world burn". With a small skip in step Harley went back to the force master, covering his ears slightly "this is going to be big, I can feel it".

Lilla watched over Barrien. She had an innate mothering instinct – as well as a logical approach to ensuring a fellow Jedi was fit and well.

Once he gained his feet and seemed steady again, she turned her attention to the remainder of the room. Taking the datapad, she glanced at the first few messages.

A low whistle escaped her lips. “When people think they’re above the law, they also seem to think they’ll never get caught. Which makes them sloppy enough to almost write a confession in their everyday messages.”

She read a little further before connecting a dingle to the datapad and uploading the information to the Jedi Order temple. “We can let the appropriate channels take care of this one. It will need the right signatures to be able to waltz in and arrest a senator. But there is more than enough information here to provide a warrant and a swift conviction.”

“Their plan was simple – if wrong on so many levels. It started well enough – to eradicate the cult that brainwashed and forced its people into virtual slavery. But then the Senator decided to extend the plan – to replace one cult with one he controlled. It does not appear it was done out of loyalty to the Republic, but rather he saw an opportunity for his own slave workforce.”

Lilla shook her head. “Power can definitely corrupt. But at least we’ve closed down the operation, and put one corrupt politician behind bars. Now we need to help the effort to find the cult members and return them, safely, to society. Let’s hope their recoveries will be swift – and complete.”
