Makin' Memories...Literally

Techno Union HQ, Hypori

Greed and Ambition.

So often were the two confused when utilized to describe men of business. From the outside looking in, it was but an elementary task to thrust a finger at the one who has it all; labeling their actions as simply a means to line their pockets with more credits. Yet, the sad simple truth was...there were those who simply wanted to push what was possible to its very limits. Such was true for the Echani known as Tyri Lsu, CEO of the reborn Czerka Corporation. It was not money that motivated him to do what he did; but simply to see how far he could push a company that was once splintered into pieces. This day, his ambition would lead him to the Research & Development wing of the Techno Union headquarters; for there was something he had in mind to create. With but a simple briefcase in hand, and a pair of goggles dangling from his neck, the silver-haired businessman strode calmly throughout the halls until he found the workspace that was absolutely perfect. Behind a wall of glass stood a variety of laser platforms and programming modules; perfect for what the Echani had in mind.

Coming to a halt before the entrance, Tyri briefly danced his fingers over the keypad and input the correct sequence. In turn, a hiss sounded as the entrance slid open and Tyri promptly admitted himself within. Setting his briefcase down upon the table, he flipped open its locks and opened the lid, revealing a trio of crystals to the light. The first was a simple, synthetic crystal created by the Templar Order. The second was a Lambent crystal, complements of the Vong population on Rodia...and finally, there was the beautiful Gabonna Memory Crystal that Tyri had spent quite a sum of money producing. At present, he had a line of battle droids which ran practically on this precious resource; but the cost of production was astronomical. After all, the few who had these powerful processing units in hand loved to slap a large price tag on them, and Tyri now sought to cut out the middle man. For this cause, he had come to the R&D department, dedicated to devising a new means of producing the crystal so that his next project might proceed.

So, he plucked the three crystals out of the briefcase and set each onto a set of prongs within range of the laser. The Echani made sure to place his goggles on before stepping over to the nearest terminal and seating himself. The time to create was nigh.

And where were the spiders
Marek hadn’t really been doing much lately. Haor Chall was running itself, and the companies within his union seemed to know what they were doing. At this time, he was just getting through and making the occasional house call and surprise inspection. Having been in the HQ building, and not off on a call, and actually, y’know, in the office, he was intrigured by what he was hearing about. There was someone down in R&D? This he needed to see.

Czerka had produced a lot of products, and really, he wanted ot see what he could learn, to put the finishing touches on the project known as Legion That was something he needed to get set out really quickly. Normally, he would send Sindy on a trip like this, she knew what she was looking at For him, it was just going to be a quick house call.

Stepping off the turbo lift, the Foreman stepped outside the room that there was obviously a test going on in. Stroking the stubble on his chin, he tipped his head to the side, reaching out to the Force to see what in the Sith was going on. This was going to be interesting.

By the time the Foreman himself decided to grace the Research and Development department with his presence, the Echani was already lost to his work. There was something deeply engrossing about delving into the unknown that caused Tyri to shut out the entirety of the world around him. All that mattered was the project that was at hand. With a growing smile, he guided the laser's trajectory via the terminal and pointed it at the Gabonna Memory Crystal. He then set its intensity to the lowest it could possibly go for exploratory purposes. The plan here was to shine the laser into the crystal and thereby expose the internal wirings and whatnot that made the beautiful piece of technology tick. From there, it would be a matter of testing the two readily-available options, the synthetic and Lambent crystals, to see which would be a better structural fit for the Gabonna's internal components. "Firing in 3...2...1..." counted out the Echani aloud. Such was protocol in the Department; just in case anyone walked in...Safety was always a priority!

Upon reaching 'zero' in his count, Tyri fired up the ignition. The laser responded by humming to life and projecting a thin beam of azure light, which lit up the green crystal quite brilliantly. At once, the Echani's fingers began to fly furiously upon the terminal as he gathered as much information about the internal structure of the memory crystal as possible. Oh yes, this would be possible to replicate...it was just a matter of proceeding very, very carefully. "Data collection at 35%" he said aloud, giving a count to how long he'd have the laser active. Once again, safety protocols and all that joy. Of course, spectators were welcome to brave the room in order to see the show up close; but it would be ill advised whilst the laser was active.

With Marek, there was never a fear of the unknown, but there was the desire to learn everything he could. And that sometimes pushed one out into the dark and where they didn’t know how to orient themselves. Marek himself did so as a survivalist, and with his new training in the Force, as mild as that may be. Well, with who he was learning from, not quite that mild. And it as the Sith sciences. But technology? Marek wasn’t that sold on learning all that. So long as he could master how to use it, that was good enough for him.

Tapping on the wall-mounted datapad, the Corellian vagabond waited for the screen to load. What exactly was going on in there? Data collect? He could hear that through the wall. “Computer, what exactly is going on?” He knew that if he asked with the proper tone and word choice that SeaDee had programmed the computers to put things into laymans terms. Simple, and really useful. He would have to give his astromech a raise.

In response to the inquiry voiced by the Corellian, the computer spoke in a feminine, yet monotone voice. Ongoing exploratory procedure in progress. Data collection at 55%. Ongoing data collection of Gabonna Memory Crystal structure at over half completion. Though vague in explanation, the information was right there. The Echani's plan to replicate the memory crystal was going quite smoothly. It would only be a matter of time before he could begin the process of replicating the internal structure. Silence continued to rule the Echani as his fingers danced upon the terminal, his eyes darting to and fro as they began to analyze how the crystal worked. To say the least, the memory crystals were...almost like a small brain in of themselves. The wiring was so intricate, so precise, that signals bouncing back and forth could almost be considered sparks dancing along synapses.

"Wow...This is amazing..." breathed the Echani in near disbelief. At this point, the process was almost to 80%.

Nodding, right, he was still not sure what was going on. But it was exploring the crystal? That was… why? “Computer… Why?” Right, the protocols for him should override that, and let him get his simple explanations. The best ways he could understand things were the ones that made him and just about everyone else understand. Computers, they were one thing he did understand.

And guns.

And lightsabers.

And some droids.

And his ships. Beyond that? Not so much.

He was definitely going to need to speak to the Echani about this. And maybe his own Echani. She was really good at this stuff.

At the utterance of the word "why", the protocols associated with the Foreman's very voice allowed him some rare insight into the project of the Czerka Corporation CEO. Exploratory procedure with the intent of duplication. The explanation was beyond simple, but it was more than the average joe would even dream of receiving. By that time, the analysis of the memory crystal's internal structure was complete and Tyri inhaled a breath. It was quite a doozy keeping up with the stream of data and compiling it into...instructions...for the next step. "Alright, now onto the fun part." he muttered, adjusting the laser's trajectory to the Synthetic crystal first. This was the option he prayed would take the greatest, as forging synthetic crystals were elementary for the Confederacy these days.

"Making adjustments to crystalline structure in order to place the circuitry...Now." he said, adjusting the power setting whilst powering up the laser once more. The beam it fired was immensely stronger this time, being a much brighter blue. At the same time, Tyri slid his chair over to the adjacent terminal and began furiously typing. At once, a series of mechanical arms and soldering tools began to erect a circuitry board that was...smaller than Tyri's own eye could see. "Excellent...I think this might actually work..."

"Katrina Garnier here to see Mr. Lsu," she replied to the security guards whom stopped her at the door. Lightly she tapped her black heel on the floor as she waited for him to check out her credentials. Katrina had been prepared for this as a CEO didn't just let anybody see them. The fact that he wished to see her out of all the applicants was rather flattering. She would not disappoint him today but instead show him that despite her lack of experience she was the best choice. She had even dressed the part in a new black dress suit. Normally she didn't wear such outfits but today she was dressing to impress. Kat hoped this went well as she really wished to work for him.

After waiting about ten minutes the guard was satisfied with what she presented to him and what he was told over his earphone to bring her inside to wait some more. Katrina sat down as told on the plush couch for the busy CEO to get to her. She hoped not to have to wait too long as she rather nervous which was silly she never got nervous. Talking a deep breath she sighed as she looked around the room.

The Echani was literally on the edge of his seat as the processes began to complete. Before his very eyes, the circuit board which was to be installed into the crystal was finally completed. Then, the steps began to repeat themselves; just in case the synthetic crystal did not produce the desired results. From this point, a mechanical arm bore the newly-erected circuit board over to the freshly-lasered crystal and the magic began. With its internal structure modified to receive the circuitry, the mechanical arms had no problem placing the board into place. Once situated, the Echani queued up the laser once more, sealing the crystal in a display of brilliant light and completing the process. At once, a silence ruled the CEO as he reached out, gingerly claiming the crystal into his grasp. It was blazing hot; but that is what gloves were for. With a grin, he quickly slid across the room on his wheeled, office chair and set it next to a third terminal, which began a process of scanning and running diagnostics.

"Installation completed with zero errors...Initial scans are good, yes...yes...yes!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands up into the air. Victory had been attained: the Gabonna Memory Crystal had successfully been reproduced. At once, the Echani rose from his seat and reached for his comm. A hasty transmission to his current assistant, one he desperately sought to fire, ferried the news. The data and process were transferred as well with instructions for immediate production en masse to be undertaken immediately. With a grin plastered upon his face, the CEO then exited the room and gave a respectful nod to the Foreman. "Foreman Starchaser, I did not see you there! I hope you're doing well today." he said, walking along. With a wave of his hand, he motioned for his "superior" to follow him down the corridor as he headed towards the lobby.

Now came a new, much more fun part: an interview! With his growing dissatisfaction with his current assistant, the Echani found himself needing a change...and so word was sent out. Out of all the applicants who had leapt at the opportunity, Tyri settled on only a handful; with one supposedly waiting in the lobby. Upon arrival, he took advantage of the fact that he was wearing tinted goggles in order to let his eyes wander...oh yes, she would do beautifully. Reaching up, he removed his goggles and flashed his business-grin, striding over with his hand extended. "And you must be Miss Garnier! My name is Tyri Lsu, a pleasure to meet you." he said, ultimately seating himself beside her.

Katrina had worked as an assistant to scientists back in the day but that was hardly comparable to that of a CEO she imagined. The scientists she had worked with had worked with had been freelancers working on grants and the like. They had her collecting data samples and doing research on her own. She occasionally had to get them caf but not as often as she figured she would be here. She had no quarrels with that though. This was her opportunity to get into a world she always found fascinating.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Lsu," she smiled brightly as she shook his hand standing up from where she had been sitting. "Thank you for the opportunity to interview with you." She stopped sitting back down as he did so himself.

Reaching into her bag she pulled out her datapad. She knew he was a busy man and she doubted that he had time for small talk with her. This interview was probably to amuse himself if anything but she was taking this seriously. "I brought my resume for you to view. I'm my past positions are different than what your used to. I doubt you speak to many to have worked and lived among Akka dogs for a good majority of their life."

It had been a long time since Katrina had been apart of the "real" galaxy. She had spent the last several years on her own doing her research and just enjoying nature.

Right, so he was duplicating the crystal? That was… beyond him. Sure, maybe it could happen? They made synthetic crystals, his father and uncle had a holocron that had the Starchaser line making cyan crystals for a long number of years back. Well, years was too small of a measurement. Marek shook his head and just sort of watched.

When finally [member="Tyri Lsu"] acknowledged him, Marek nodded. “Its not worries. I heard someone was down here and came to check it out.” Not that he knew what he was seeing, but that was neither here nor there. “And I am well, thank you kindly.” Clearly he was still at a loss.

With the new comer entering the area, Marek gave a respectful nod at [member="Katrina Garnier"]. She was someone who he knew to respect, for her knowledge and her use of the Force. What was going on here was nothing he knew, but he was going to kind of linger for a bit, he supposed.
