- Structure Name: Mahporeem Podracing Circuit.
- Classification: Podracing Track.
- Location: Mahporeem.
- Affiliation: Mahporeem Imperial Remnant.
- Accessibility: The Mahporeem Podracing Circuit is located in Corrox, the capital of Mahporeem. It is a massive, city wide race track that is readily accessible to members of the general public for a nominal credit fee. The best seats, however, are far more expensive and usually reserved for wealthiest patrons on the planet.
- Description: The Mahporeem Racing Circuit is a Podracing track built within a decommissioned ship breaking yard. It has been extensively modified to allow Podracing, though much of the ship breaking yard's original architecture remains intact. The track itself is built mostly within the service tunnels of the ship breaking yard, far enough underground to keep the general public safe from any explosions caused by crashed podracers.
Crelzo Gate
- To enter the Mahporeem Podracing Circuit, most spectators pass through the Crelzo Gate and its host of different security features. One inside, a nominal credit fee is all that it takes to access the rest of the facility. Though the circuit possesses a number of different entry points, the Crelzo Gate is easily the largest and most recognizable of them all.
- Most of the Mahporeem Podracing Circuit itself is built inside of the Scohpend Service Tunnels, which once transported workers and material throughout the Scohpend Ship Breaking Yards. Being constructed far underneath the city, these service tunnels ensure that spectators remain safe from any exploding or crashed podracing craft.
- Serving only the finest cuts of meats from Merzoidian farms and ranches, the Ahpesaah Steak House is the exclusive domain of Mahporeem's wealthiest patrons.
- Numerous betting stations and terminals can be found throughout the Mahporeem Podracing Circuit. Small fortunes are won and lost here on a daily basis, and millions of credits can exchange hands during a single race. Of course, the Imperial government of Mahporeem always gets a cut of the winnings, no matter who wins or loses on any given day.
- For those with less credits to spend than Mahporeem's wealthiest clients, numerous food stalls and souvenir booths are available to be shopped at.
- High: To ensure that all fans and spectators have a secure viewing experience, the Mahporeem Podracing Circuit employs a number of different security systems. Anti-blaster scanners, mobile barricades and a full contingent of Junktroopers all help to keep violence and rioting to a minimum during the circuit's long racing season. Hundreds of cameras and probe droids ensure that security personnel are able to respond to a disturbance in mere moments, and the circuit itself is constructed in a way that makes it as explosive-proof as possible.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Podracing was outlawed on most Imperial worlds. This, of course, did little to temper enthusiasm for the sport of Podracing, and many of the alien prisoners on Mahporeem continued to watch the races in secret, with some especially brave and bold prisoners constructing their own Podracers for personal use. With the fall of the Galactic Empire, however, Podracing was legalized on Mahporeem for two distinct reasons. Firstly, Podracing provided a much needed distraction for the hard working citizens of the planet, helping to keep them docile and pacified. Secondly, the Imperial Government could regulate all the betting that takes place around Podracing, collecting millions of credits in income every year.
When it was originally constructed, the Mahporeem Podracing Circuit was the only example of its kind on the planet, hence its namesake. Today, dozens of podracing circuits exist across Mahporeem, and technically the real name of the racetrack is the Corrox Podracing Circuit. That being said, most citizens still refer to it by its old name, and despite Imperial attempts to prevent its citizens from calling the facility the "Mahporeem Podracing Circuit", the name has persisted up until the present moment.
