OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To give life, depth and substance to the long-serving Chosen, the elite fighting force of Maestus Maestus
  • Image Credit: Me via www.canva.com
  • Role: The Chosen are, as the name implies, hand-selected by Maestus Maestus . Primarily a combat group that was originally composed of ragtag marauders, thieves and slaves, time and the bonds of battle have sharpened the Chosen considerably and allowed specializations to form
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Maestus Chosen
  • Affiliation: Maestus Maestus
  • Classification: Elite Warriors
  • Description: Primarily a combat group with specialties in scouting, tracking, surveillance/counter-surveillance and, of course, a varieties of forms of hand-to-hand combat. Each member personally chosen by Maestus
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Strengths:
  • Undying Loyalty: The Chosen have been broken and rebuilt to be fanatically loyal to Maestus Maestus . Each and everyone will give theirs lives for her. They tolerate no disrespect to their Dark Mistress, and will challenge any and all who dare to do so.
  • Well Trained: Each of the Chosen is trained in combat by Maestus Maestus herself. She utilizes aspects of lightsaber training, as well melee combat teachings. Each goes through a lengthy training process for the honor of being Chosen.
  • What's In A Name: The Chosen have been terrorizing the galaxy, and the Unknown Regions specifically, for decades. From their beginnings of crazed unrestrained violence with little idea or teamwork, to the fire forged team that completes its work with the same lethality, now tempered with the wisdom of years. When rumors begin of the Chosen arriving, breaths hitch and pulses quicken.
  • Blood Bonds: Having fought, bled and survived together, the Chosen has formed strong bonds. They reserve the right to use and abuse each other for themselves, and their mistress, alone. Woe be to the outsider who thinks a Chosen will allow them to abuse one of their shield siblings, regardless of alleged crime.
Weaknesses:
  • Blind Fanaticism: Because of their unyielding loyalty to Maestus Maestus , they disregard any and all advice or direction from any of the other warlords and leadership in any given situation. They rely solely on their training, and as such, when in unfamiliar situations, falter and second guess themselves. Leaving them open to attack which they must adapt and defend against.
  • The Force Is Not With Them: Non-Force Users all, they are extremely weak against those who wield the Force. This puts them at a severe disadvantage in combat, and leaves their Mistress vulnerable to attacks she may have assumed they would handle.
  • Pew Pew, Just A Little Bit: Begrudgingly, Maestus Maestus relaxed her ban on ranged weapons. Realizing that the galaxy is full of cowards to in fear of shedding their own blood to meet her on the open field of battle, she has allowed the Chosen to train with and utilize ranged weapons as they desire, with the caveat that they are a secondary, backup means. She will allow none of hers to hide behind concealment and distance for safety. She asked nothing of those she follows that she does not ascribe herself. They, like her, still are worse shots than stormtroopers. The Chosen have some hope at improving, though
  • Blood Bonds: Just as their bonds can be a source of great strength, the unwillingness to admit one of their own is wrong has cost them dearly numerous times. The tendency towards single mindedness, almost a hive mind, is not always to be desired
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Maestus Maestus Chosen began as a small, rag tag band of marauders. A mix of races and sexes, they had no cohesion or anything resembling a concept of teamwork. Slowly, Maestus chose those who demonstrated the most potential, and began training them personally. She used her power with the Force to break them mentally, and rebuild them into fearless, absolutely loyal fighting machines.

They have joined her on every major battle she has been in. From Batauu and Jakku, to the annihilation of Csilla. Suffering losses in each battle, Maestus replaces them from the best in her training program. Thus ensuring she has her Chosen ready at a moments notice. One such example of how they assisted their Mistress is in the raid on the temple of Shi'Ido. The Chosen aided in the sacking of the temple, as well as procurring slaves to add to her stable on Crakull, being put into her training programs.

As time went on, Maestus Maestus worked the kinks from her training and recruitment regime. As her soldiers trained and fought, she began to see the specializations and areas of expertise budding. With each battle a proving ground, tweaks were made after each. Performances analyzed, weaknesses found, mistakes discovered. Battle, analyze, adjust. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

She began with the entire structure itself. Having 40 loyal fighters was always of value, but if they were untrained, unorganized, then their value was greatly diminished from the start. For her Chosen to grow into the force she envisioned, it required structure, order and time. As she was greatly fond of living, the Chosen needed to be of the highest caliber when on the battlefield. So she restructured her entire Chosen into 3 tiers. 1st Tier are the Tribute. Volunteers, prisoners and slaves are assessed for use and worth. Those deemed promising are elevated to the 2nd Tier, The Called. This tier is where training begins and takes place. Understanding her own limitations at being unable to personally train them herself from start to finish, Maestus selected from her 3rd Tier, The Chosen, the who would also train and teach the Called of the 2nd Tier in Alkonost on Crakull. She is heavily involved in the training program, understanding that nothing replaces first hand knowledge and understanding. To know what her soldiers are capable of, she must see herself. Scenarios are designed to test various combat strategies and capabilities, as well as individual and group combat lessons. Promotion to become a Chosen happens infrequently, and only upon the death of a current Chosen. Falling in battle or by Maestus Maestus hand, it matters not. When an opening occurs, she inspects the Called put forward personally and makes the selection.
