Strengths
  • Munitions Compatability -The M241 chambers the same size round as the G60, ensuring that munitions can be freely exchanged between operators as needed. However, it should be noted, that the clips themselves are not compatible between weapons - and the munitions must be loaded into the appropriate clip.
  • Durability - Fully designed to take a beating, the M60 M241 is constructed of durable, high-quality materials to ensure that the weapon could take a beating and still function to optimal capacity in the field. It has been field-tested in a number of means from being dropped in mud, sand, and submerged in water - to give a few examples - and still functions with little to no detriment to the weapon's effectiveness.
  • Compact - While not as compact as the G60 - the M241 is still more compact than similar weapons of its size and stature. With a collapsible stock that can fold to the side and smaller length than similar Carbines, the M241 succeeds in its mandate of being a compact personal defense weapon.
  • Stopping Power - Retaining its capability from the predecessor M221 - the M60 M241 focuses on stopping power - with the sole desire to ensure that an assailant, or their comrades, are provided an ample opportunity to rethink their assault.
  • Internal Suppressor - In order to ensure that the weapon remains compact - the production of the M241 comes with an Internal Suppressor built into the barrel of the weapon rather than being an additional piece that is threaded into the barrel externally.
  • Internal Smartgun System - Each M241 is equipped with a Smartgun System integrated into the components of the weapon itself that directly links to the HUD system within an operator's helmet provided that the system is present. This Smartgun system provides a comprehensive readout on munitions count, heat build-up, and material stress of the weapon - it also incorporates a built-in camera and laser range finders for greater accuracy.

Weaknesses
  • Munition Dependency - Deviating from the vast majority of weapons technologies across the Galaxy, the M241 is highly dependent upon slugthrower munitions. While these munitions are easy to come by in the Outer Rim Territories or directly via the manufacturer of the weapon, the likelihood of having access to munitions in the Core Worlds is unlikely. This further requires the individual to carry as many munitions as they possibly can.
  • Limited Munitions - Though arguably an updated model to its predecessor, it has a markedly smaller size clip. The M241 follows in the same ideal as the G60 - with a focus on making each shot count - 'one shot, one kill'. However, those not properly trained or who are a little more liberal with their trigger finger, are likely to find themselves out of munitions in the first few moments of a heated fire-fight.
  • Iron Sights - While the weapon is equipped with an internal smartgun system - in the event that an individual is not equipped with a matching helmet H.U.D. setup or the internal component is damaged - the M241 falls back on a more 'archaic' form of target acquisition. This can often result in individuals having a higher degree of difficulty in targeting and accurately firing upon an enemy.
  • Slow Firing - Following a mindset of "One Shot - One Kill", the M241 is designed without the addition of a semi-automatic or fully automatic firing feature. This single round fire - more often seen in older rifles rather than compact Personal Defense Weapons - limits the weapon's rate of fire while also forcing an individual to carefully select their targets rather than trust in the older method of "Spray and Pray".
  • High Recoil - A byproduct of the M241's Stopping Power, operators of the weapon experience a higher effect of recoil. Those that are not properly trained, are holding the weapon improperly, or are otherwise not ready for the kickback of the weapon can experience injuries ranging from minor bruising to more severe injuries such as a dislocated shoulder.
  • Internal Suppressor - While a boon on those operations in which an individual does not want to draw attention to themselves, the internal suppressor otherwise limits the overall effective range of the weapon. While rounds fired within a range band that can be considered Personal or Close range will usually find their mark with little to no degradation - rounds fired at further ranges often experience a rapid drop off of the round and are less accurate and more susceptible to other external factors with the potential of further reducing accuracy.
