Strengths
  • Durability - The G60 PDW was fully designed to ensure that the weapon could take a beating and still be fully operational when push came to shove. Constructed from high-quality materials and field-tested with rigorous training, the weapon is capable of being dropped in mud, sand, or even against rocks and still function with little to no detriment to the weapon.
  • Removable Scope - To further aid in its compatibility, the weapon's mounted scope is capable of being removed entirely - though this would cause the individual operator of the weapon to rely on basic iron sights. Likewise, the scope is just as easily reattached, needing only a couple of seconds to snap it back into place.
  • Munitions Compatability - The G60 chambers the same size rounds as the M241, ensuring that munitions can be freely exchanged between individuals operating the two separate weapons. However, it should be noted, that the clips themselves are not compatible between weapons - and the munitions must be loaded into the appropriate clip.
  • Stopping Power - Developed as a Personal Defense Weapon in line with its predecessor, the G60 retains a high stopping power intended to cause an assailant to think really hard on if they want to continue their assault or not.
  • Compact - The weapon is highly compact - with a removable scope and collapsible shoulder stock - the G60 can easily fit under a business suit, be hidden in a briefcase, or hung from an individual's armor without worrying about it getting in the way as some other bulkier weapons are prone.
  • Internal Smartgun System - Inside each G60 is a Smartgun system that links directly to the armor the operator of the weapon is wearing provided that armor contains a HUD system. This Smartgun system provides read-outs on munition count, heat build-up, and material stress, as well as incorporating a built-in camera and laser range finder for additional assistance.

Weaknesses
  • Barrel Climbing - The combination of the weapon's lightweight and its high recoil often forces the barrel to climb when the weapon is fired - with a noticeable climb when attempting a more rapid-fire burst. This can often force the operator to reacquire their target and readjust their aim after even three to five rounds fired.
  • Munitions Dependency - Unlike many weapons the galaxy over, the G60 is highly dependant upon slugthrower munitions. While these munitions are easy to come by via the producer of the weapon or on many Outer Rim worlds, the likelihood of being able to find munitions for the weapon on planets closer towards the Core is highly unlikely - further requiring the individual to carry as many munitions as they are capable.
  • Slugthrower - The G60 can often be considered a relic in terms of modern weaponry due in part to it being a slugthrower. While more than capable of handling lighter armors - with medium armors pushing the envelope - heavier armors made of more advanced composites and materials, not often available in the Outer Rim are much more difficult for the weapon to handle, with its rounds either scratching or outright ricochetting off of the armor.
  • Low Munitions - While the G60 can be considered an upgrade when compared to its older predecessor, the G-58, the G60 has a noticeably lower munition count than its older predecessor. The thinking behind this was to make each round count - with the belief in a one-shot, one-kill - however, those uninitiated or not trained properly in the weapon's use may find themselves out of munitions within the first few heated exchanged of a firefight.
  • High Recoil - The weapon experiences a high kick when fired - and as mentioned above - leads to barrel climbing when coupled with the weapon's lightweight. Likewise, those that have not been properly trained in the use of the weapon - likely a raw recruit merely grabbing the weapon or an individual not expecting its recoil - can potentially harm themselves. Such injuries can include broken bones, dislocated shoulders, or any other number of injuries to the forearm, ribcage, neck, jaw, and shoulder.
  • Limited Range - Owing to its classification as a 'Personal Defense Weapon', the G60 is intended to be utilized at personal to point-blank ranges for its maximum effect. Beyond these ranges, the weapon experiences a noticeable drop in stopping power and round penetration of a target.

Description
The M60 G60 Personal Defense Weapon - often referred to in the shortened G60 PDW - is a marked update of the predecessor G-58 Personal Defense Weapon. However, in some instances, it can also be argued that it is not as much of an upgrade as a limitation when compared to the previous model. The G60 retains in compact design feature - a removable scope and folding stock standard to the design - though, unlike its predecessor, the G60 is manufactured with more durable materials to protect more sensitive internal components while also ensuring that it remains lightweight. It should be noted that the combination of the weapon's lightweight with its high recoil can often result in a noticeable barrel climb - often requiring that the operate compensate and aim the weapon after every few rounds to retain its accuracy and proper placement of rounds downrange.

Whereas the G-58 PDW was equipped with a forty-round magazine, the G60 maintains a lower round magazine at half that capacity - with the focus now being on accuracy and placement of rounds rather than saturating a target. To further ensure the theory of one-shot, one-kill, the weapon is equipped with a piece of technology that its predecessor was lacking. In this instance, the G60 maintains an Internal Smartgun System - this piece of technology links to the armor that the weapon's operator is wearing, provided said armor has an internal H.U.D. This system in turn provides a detailed account of rounds, material stress, and heat buildup within the weapon - while also utilizing a miniature camera and laser range finders for additional assistance in targeting or scouting around blind corners. However, it should be noted, that the weapon's range is lacking - with its effective range being no further than a personal engagement, owing to its designation as a Personal Defense Weapon.

Likewise, it still relies heavily on physical munitions - that, while easier to obtain in the Outer Rim Territories and on 'Back-Water' Planets - can be more difficult to come by the further towards the Core that an individual travels. This often requires an individual to carry additional magazines or munitions to ensure that they are properly equipped. An upside to this is that both the M60 G60 PDW and the newer M60 M241 PDW are capable of sharing munitions as they chamber the same caliber round - however, they do not share a similar magazine size, making the magazines themselves incompatible between the weapons.

While much of the Galaxy continues to focus on the more common Blaster based weaponry - the production of the slugthrower technologies - such as the G60 - though much more limited than previous, as well as the advent of armor's with more advanced components and materials, has rendered slugthrower weapons obsolete in much of the Galaxy - there are still those instances in which armor is not as widely dispersed or utilized by the common individual. It should be noted that the G60 is not fully intended to be utilized on a widescale conflict, with its primary focus being in the hands of security individuals or combat medics that require some form of personal defense while seeing to an injured patient - and in those instances in which they are more likely to be going up against poorly protected assailants, rather than fully armored soldiers.

Your ammunition capacity requires a rating

  • Ammunition Capacity: (List the ammunition capacity. The more powerful and lighter the weapon, the lower the magazine capacity is likely to be. Please choose a size between Extremely Small, Very Small, Small, Average, Large, Very Large and Extremely Large. You may also include a number with the Rating)
