While the galaxy at large continues to push for greater advancements in blaster technology; the security specialist of MedCorps have fallen back on a more 'archaic' weapon to ensure their personal safety. Enter the G-58 PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) which fires a 10mm slug - more than enough to tear through most lighter armor and cause someone to rethink their life choices. In some cases, slugthrowers have even been noted as punching through personal deflector shields, which has been all the more reason for MedCorps to develop these weapons and outfit their personnel with them.

The G-58 is designed to be as compact as possible, and is capable of being collapsed into a more compact form, which can be extended to provide more stability or a minor increase to its firing range. The weapon after all its a Personal Defense Weapon, and will likely see more combat up close than at range. While it is equipped with a scope, it offers only a limited capability to zoom in on a target, and is often used more for pinpoint targeting in close range engagements than for sniping an enemy from afar.
