STRENGTHS
  • Singular: Every cannon is one complete unit, housing all components with optimized design for usage in turrets
  • Power: Each model gets stronger, and better range, with the heavy cannon being able to wreak havoc on the electrical systems of massive targets from far away.
  • Optimized: The cannons are specifically made to be compatible with almost any targeting system and mechanisms.
  • Energy: On its highest setting, each cannon can deal a degree of more traditional energy damage, allowing for more lethal usage.

WEAKNESSES
  • Bulky: While not much bigger than comparative laser or turbolaser cannons, the contained design makes very bulky and troublesome to use on smaller ships
  • Power: Each gun uses up ludicrous amounts of power to operate, increasing with each unit linked up to another in a turret configuration.
  • Recoil: The stronger the model gets, the higher the recoil. Serious damage can occur if this is not properly taken into account.
  • Speed: While relatively quick to operate, the ion cannons take some time to charge up with their shots, giving them a slower firing rate than dedicated laser or turbolaser cannons.

DESCRIPTION
With the company’s growth and focus on larger ships, the need for a locally built ion cannon began to arise. The Model 70-series of ion cannons follow the same style of design as the company’s laser and turbolaser cannons, with the entire weapon being contained in a single unit.

The Model 70-series is a versatile platform, with the light ion cannons being just a little bigger than a typical heavy laser cannon. On the other side of the spectrum, the heavy cannon can easily rival the size and danger of large turbolaser batteries found on massive starships. However, service and modifications are easy to perform due to the amount of shared components throughout all the models.
