Lungs to Dust | CIS Dominion of Katanos VII

Katanos_VIIDone1.png
Katanos_Bar1.png
Life is not easy for the people of Katanos VII. It had never been. Never would be.

Once home to booming business due to a surplus of Cortosis Ore the state of the planet has fallen on desperate times due to ore becoming scarce. Just when the people seemed to be at their most desperate, literally killing one another for a drop of clean water, a new vein of unrefined ore was found near the equator. It was located deep within the crust of planet and would need to be extracted with the use of brute force hydraulic jacks. It was an extremely difficult process, but luckily, many of the old facilities still held equipment. Energy tools, such as plasma torches, would be completely useless in this endeavor—but if the citizens of Katanos VII knew how to do one thing, safely and efficiently, it was mining.
Instead of being profited upon by a larger corporation they extracted and refined what they could on their own, before reaching out to dealers, to sell their newfound export. They used the proceeds from the first sale to both feed their families and to purchase more equipment. So far, the process has worked, and Katanos, though still struggling, has begun to show a glimmer of life. The terrain is rocky and barren, while the mining communities themselves are fairly isolated. Everything seems to be covered in a fine layer of dust, even the food, though most are so hungry they barely notice.
Not long after the first sale, the workers began to notice large supplies of recently refined Cortosis missing from their stores. It was reported to the very loosely maintained authorities and an investigation was opened. At first, they blamed one another, but after a pocket of highly-combustible lethane gas was deliberately disturbed, they began to suspect they were under attack from an outside source. No one in the community would risk releasing Cortosis particles to the air, considering that once it built up in the body, it could result in sickness and death. No, it was most definitely an act of terror. It was an attempt to scare them away from the newly re-opened mines.
When the initial attack had no effect a large band of pirates and mercenaries, known as the Spiders, made themselves known by bombing structures and setting up shop not far from the newly erected city known as New Haven. It was the biggest community, with the largest defense force, and the pirates were determined to lay siege and take it by any means necessary. Their goals lay strictly within controlling the mine for their employers. Casualties, no matter how high, were of little consequence. The ore buried below was worth a fortune, enough to keep the mining planet alive, and more than enough to ensure a satisfying payday for any criminal organization.
A bloody and long battle ensued, brutal, and it eventually became a standoff. New Haven became desperate and sent out distress calls when their supply routes were cut off. The Confederacy has responded, promising protection, and the security of their livelihood. In exchange, Katanos VII has vowed to become a Confederate member world and has also graciously sworn to sell the CIS refined Cortosis at a discounted rate.

Objective1.png

This mission will be geared toward rescuing citizens and protecting New Haven. There is a standoff taking place on the edges of New Haven between the local miners and the pirate syndicate. Within the city limits are a variety of structures, including, but not limited to warehouses that store refined Cortosis, shanty homes, diners, and very, very small businesses. Everything seems old. Covered in dust, in a state of disrepair, and hard to defend. The pirates are aware of this and have identified veins of lethane gas to set off explosions within the city. Unbeknownst to everyone, New Haven, used to be the site of a failed cloning facility. Beneath the ground are decrepit pods that contain botched cyborg clones that have been left to decay. Their bodies are partially formed, more machine than flesh, and their programming is stuck in a fractured state. They cannot be reasoned with, are surprisingly fast, and will seek to destroy anyone that crosses their path.
[TLDR: Includes…Standoff/frontier fighting with pirates, fighting with unearthed cyborg clones, rescuing citizens, and securing the city.]

Objective2.png

As the CIS has promised to protect and defend Katanos VII they also need to clear the space around the planet from a plethora of pirate starships that are waiting in orbit. The system will need to be patrolled, thoroughly, to ensure that any enemy forces are either chased away or destroyed.
[TLDR: Includes…Fleeting! Please, CIS pilots. Make the enemy suffer! ]

Objective3.png

Unlike the rickety city of New Haven, the Spiders, under the payroll of the Black Sun, have a veritable fortress. It is referred to as the Spider's Lair. They have had enough time on the ground to set up a base with high walls, traps, and fortified armaments. A small band of Confederate forces have been tasked with infiltrating the base of operations with the intention of bringing it down from the inside out.
[TLDR: Includes…Infiltration, ground battle, and assassination. Join this objective if you favor stealth, have a peg leg hidden in the closet, and or really just want to pick up some nasty weapons off of dead pirates.]

Objective4.png

If there is a route that you'd like to take during this Dominion that doesn't line up exactly with the above please feel free. Enjoy yourselves and have fun!

Map of New Haven [Mining Colony]
Katanos_New_Havenmapdone.png

1.) Main Gate
2.) West Gate
3.) East Gate
4.) Barracks - Many miners and members of the working class stay in tents and shanty houses. There are some homes with families that are more 'modern' but these people don't have much. Even their wealthiest are poor by most galactic standards.
5.) Food Stores - Bears evidence of recent attacks from the Spiders [Mercs & Pirates hired by the Black Sun]
6.) Armory
7.) Ore Storage - Heavily Guarded
8.) Medical - Critical, and filled with wounded from recent attacks and troubles while mining. Cortosis is poisonous and lethane gas is dangerous.
9.) Refinery Offices - Ore is passed through a secure hole in the fence and then refined before being sent to storage so it can be prepped for sale. Also contains those that handle the business dealings.

Map of the Spider's Lair [Merc and Pirate Base]

1.) Main Gate - Entrance
2.) Barracks
3.) Barracks
4.) Hangar
5.) Armory
6.) Gambling Den - Complete with spice for patrons and some very, very gritty ale.
7.) Stolen Ore - Some is unrefined. Handle with caution and care.
8.) General Supplies
9.) Merc/Pirate HQ and Mess Hall - This is where most of the Spider's congregate when not trying to kill and or drive away the locals. They drink, brag, and get into brawls regularly.
Note: The Spider's Lair has some impressive defenses for a pop-up fortress. There are automated turrets on most of the buildings, pickets, high walls, and even laser tripwires designed to disintegrate those who try to enter the base in any fashion but the front door. The base cannot be blown to smithereens from orbit or by any huge explosions because pockets of lethane gas could cause irreparable damage. This is a dirty killing job. But hey, someone's got to do it.

Location: Junkie Spaceport - Not far from New Haven
Post: 1
Objective: 1

Katanos_Bar1.png

The Sith Apprentice stepped down from the lighted ramp of the Ferocity, the sight of the dilapidated spaceport both depressing, and cautionary. Srina Talon had never been to a world so tragically damaged and impoverished. Tatooine was a close second, but this grey, bleak existence with sparse vegetation and more dust than breathable air certainly took the cake. On any other planet, this area would have been a thriving hub of activity—but here? It was a veritable ghost town.

Other Confederate ground forces were scheduled to land within the hour but the Dark Acolyte did not have a complete list. They’d sent word among their forces that a new world was in need of their assistance and wished to join the CIS, provided, that they were able to chase the off-worlders from their home that were giving them a hard time. It seemed fairly simple on paper. Honestly, it felt more like a mission for bounty hunters, but Srina did not question it. That was not her place. “Make sure that transports get unloaded and that a perimeter is secured. We don’t want to get taken by surprise.”, the white-haired woman instructed a battle-droid carefully.

They were relatively good shots—but not always the brightest bulbs in the sockets. [member="Darth Metus"] had yet to make an appearance from the bowels of the Ferocity but she saw another dark-haired male making his way out of the assault frigate. Her Master was more than likely finalizing the cargo-ships that were meant to bring down a wealth of much-needed supplies and basic necessities. The unofficial leaders of Katanos VII had reported that they were dangerously low on food and medications necessary to stave off Cortosis sickness.

Making it past the wealth of pirate and mercenary ships in the system had been tricky. For the most part, they didn’t seem interested in much of anything, unless it got in their way. The Ferocity had made a swift backend approach and had slipped through undetected if the clear skies were anything to go by. The route they had taken was already been transmitted to the rest of the Confederate ships for convenience's sake. The pilots and navigational droids could probably figure it out, however, it never hurt to lend a helping hand.

Silver eyes flickered toward [member="Aryn Teth"] as he approached. He had a bad tendency to crash his ships into other ships. So, when she asked for his help or thought he might benefit from a mission he often traveled with her. She wasn’t sure if it was because the Galactic Alliance didn’t trust him anymore with their toys, or, if he was just too lackadaisical to request a new complement every time he lost one. A little of column ‘a’ and a little of column ‘b’ she supposed. “Cover your mouth out here. There are habitation spheres around the cities to make it more tolerable but you don’t want to breathe this in too long.”

It wasn’t bad enough to require a rebreather but the Sith Apprentice had left him a dark roughspun scarf that would suffice. Her own was pale blue, and already wrapped mostly around her face, white hair pulled back into a high ponytail. There really wasn’t much else to do until the speeders were unloaded, and they could begin making their way to New Haven, while the droids followed up with supplies and cargo on small freighters. “The closer we get to the city the more dangerous it will be. The mercenaries will try and keep anything that looks like relief or aid from making it to the people. They want them gone. The easiest way is to starve them out and scare them off.”

If the Spider’s killed enough people in the mining colony, eventually, they would flee the site and abandon the Cortosis vein because they had no other choice. It wasn’t right, or fair, but that was the way of it. With her lightsaber strapped to her form and the Verpine Vora attached to her hip Srina felt prepared for anything this planet could throw at them. She held up a pair of macrobinoculars and leaned into the cushioned eyecups to get a good view of the area. It was still a dead zone.

Everything at the spaceport was maintained by droids so old they were rusting in places Srina hadn’t known they could rust. Hopefully, the silence and lack of response from local hostilities was a good sign. Droids began to line up several speeders near the Ferocity and Srina took it as a sign to keep moving. The longer they remained in the open the more likely it was that they would be spotted.

‘Master….All is well but I would suggest that we make haste. Something doesn’t feel right….’, she mentally called for Darth Metus, knowing that the Sith Lord would be waiting for her report. He trusted her to make the initial evaluation and to begin preparations to execute the mission. ‘Our sensors have reported negative contact but we should not linger here long.’

Some of the Confederacy would land here, some would land elsewhere, and others still had their own mission. Infiltrating the Spider’s was a job that Srina had been intrigued by but ultimately it was not her strong suit. The Echani had a hard time trying to be something she wasn’t. Undercover work was not something she would attempt without a lot more training and experience. Turning to the HUD built into her gauntlet she sent an announcement through official CIS channels.

“To those headed toward New Haven…So far the coast is clear. Come armed and well rested. The city has been defending attacks from the Spider’s twice a day so be on your guard. We’ll be traveling via speeder from the spaceport. Once we arrive we have orders to secure the city and defend it by any means necessary. Stay in comm contact.”

Location: Outside New Haven, Katanos VII
Objective: Liberate New Haven
Allies In Vacinity: Srina Talon | Aryn Teth
lIhZpkf.png

Dalton Kenway wasn’t going to see this world, or any world, suffer the same fate as Corellia. It was his duty as a Kenway and a Confederacy solider to protect worlds who were on the edge of despair and needed liberation by forces who could afford to sacrifice it all in the name of freedom from thugs, war-lords and bastards.

On board the Ferocity, Dalton was in the presence of the Acolyte [member="Srina Talon"] and the Alliance Commander [member="Aryn Teth"] who were here to aid with the liberation. He knew Srina was the apprentice of Lord Metus and a Sith at heart, and that Aryn was a man cut from the same cloth as Dalton was, but he didn’t really know them yet. He was sure that would change in time. Right now the Confederacy forces were touching down on the outskirts to prepare and move into the city.

He made sure his rifle was locked and loaded and fixed over his shoulder, right hand holding the butt. To his left hip was fixed his own sword and sheathe. On the right hip, his blaster pistol. Short range, long range, melee combat – he was ready for anything.

Following the pair out flanked by expendable battle droids, Dalton overheard the communication sent out by Srina and also the protection required preventing any risk of damage to the respiratory system due to the toxins in the air. He pulled up an emerald green neckerchief that looked like those old bandit mouthpieces, simply covering his mouth and nose to help filter out some of the gunk in the air.

Taking in his surroundings as more Confederacy forces fanned out from the ship, Dalton held the hilt of his sword by his hip with his left hand and started walking around to do a sweep of the speeders being unloaded and giving the battle droids the best route to take towards the city; sticking in standard formation but having two back-up routes in case something – or someone – tried to ambush them.

He had learnt that much from Tatooine in the last week.

Location: Hyperspace

Flying through hyperspace, Shadar-Pox was in route to the planet. With him was a small band of ships. Two Munificent-class star frigates and two other Recusant-class light destroyers. Along with his personal flag ship The Spire the two kilometer tall star destroyer. "Commander Sir, we're getting close to the our destination." A droid captain said in the bridge. Informing Shadar on where they were.

"Good, get the crew battle ready when we exit. We need to be prepared for enemy fire when we get out of hyperspace." The Mon Calamari officer said back to the droid.

"Roger Roger" It responded with nod. Then went on the comms to talk over the ship, letting the crew know what their orders are. Shadar looked out the bridge as the blue haze of the universe's background radiation quickly passed by. He always like looking out into hyperspace, something about it was just so calming. But after another minute or two they got to their destination. Suddenly the planet they were on their way to quickly expanding out of the void of space. From afar it looked like a barren rocky planet. But on the surface he knew that there was a great struggle taking place. One after another the four other ships with him came out of hyperspace next to The Spire. "Sir, we're picking up on other ships around the planet." Shadar already made the assumption that these were the pirate ships that he expected.

Aova slid her hands along the controls of her ship as it slipped through the atmosphere at super sonic speeds. The planet below passed by swiftly, she avoided inhabited zones to do her best to avoid unwanted attention. Hunting bounties in a warzone wasn't something that was ever really considered a smart thing to do, but this one had a large enough price to make the extra care and concern worth it.

"Unidentified Corvette, this is Confederacy Naval Control. Submit ident and purpose on this planet or heave to for inspection." The voice sounded in the cockpit of Aova's ship. Her nostrils flared, ire at the delay along with it, for a moment. She slid her right hand to a console near her elbow and sent along the requested information.

"Confed Control, I am sending ident along same channel." She replied, pausing as she sent the information. "I am here pursuing a legal bounty, the information is in the packet I just sent over."

She waited a few moments as the control officer was likely going over the information.

"Good luck, Hunter Nerys. The Spider's Lair is a hairy mess, your safety isn't guaranteed there..." The officer was holding something back, but Aova didn't care. She took the words as tacit approval, and closed the channel. She angled her ship down and picked a landing spot that was still a few clicks from the Spider's fortress.

Objective: Assist ground forces in liberating New Haven

Her first actual mission working alongside Confederacy Military.

She had not come in her own ship, instead hitching a ride on the Ferocity while The Silent Erika was left on a Confederacy base in storage, acting as a Sniper to make sure those pirates were kept as far from the defensive perimeter to be set up as possible. Her Sniping blaster was slung over her shoulder, with extra ammo pouches, and her staff was clutched firmly in her hand when she got off the vessel, following other soldiers in formation as she heard the transmission from the Apprentice. Her mouth was covered by a black bandanna as she stuck with the soldiers, clad in her black biker leathers for freedom of movement. The city was awash in dust, as if the whole place was a rickity, haunted house barely held together.

These poor people. She would be sure to put as many holes in the Spider Pirates as she could. She wasn't sure how much of this was happening, but she was pretty firm the suffering she saw around her qualified for "Real as it got."

She could pick out a few high points for sniping as she beheld the dying city. Good places to cover others in case The Spiders attacked, unless they were already planning to set up shop.

Tentatively, she did a few last minute checks on her own rifle, mulling the mission inbetwen bouts of wondering just how much of all this was actually happening. She had to treat it as real, because she always reminded herself she would know the instant a bolt hit her in the head.

She had looked over the ground plan. This place was falling apart, and a defensive perimeter would be difficult to maintain in these conditions. Her hair already felt dusty. Plus, in protracted fighting? That dust was a health hazard.

Maple thought about the dust part hard and flagged down a soldier, who in turn directed her to General Kenway, who looked like he belonged in a fight, the way that hand was kept on his sword.

"General Kenway?" Maple called out, tentatively approaching him. "I'm Maple Harte. I was hired by the Confederacy to assist in sniping duties."

"I'm curious about the structural stability about a good deal of the smaller buildings in this area we will be heading to. Are these things threatening to collapse in on themselves if someone steps inside? Its also highly likely we could be ambushed en route using the speeders. Its what I'd do if I wanted to slow us down. I request permission to scout ahead for a bit, check at least two of the higher buildings I can see from here before the speeders move ahead."

Trying to follow where everything is, and what everyone is doing. Go easy plz

Location: Medical center of New Haven
Objective: Tend to the wounded citizens

Katanos_Bar1.png
It seemed that no matter what cause Kayla supported, the wars and battles weren't any different. They were still as gruesome and destructive and there still were too many wounded to count, but luckily she did not stand alone in her objective of bringing relief to those who needed it. Albeit small, a team of combat medics had hastily been assembled when the CIS responded to the distress calls that came from the city of New Haven, with the s'kytri being one of its members. She stood out in many ways compared to the others; besides the fact she was the only Mandragora among them her her skin tone, tall frame, and especially her set of wings made her hard to miss among her allies. What was very different from the past however, was how she was reacted to. In the nation she once served tolerance towards other races was barely existant, but now that she had joined forces with the Confederacy the difference was like night and day. The notion that one race was inherently superior simply did not exist, and only now did the woman realize how much it helped her get out of her shell, even if it was only slightly.

"I'm getting a signal through the comms, someone's trying to reach us," one of the older and more experienced combat medics, who went by the name of Argon Barrett, exclaimed from the other side of the room they occupied. Medical equipment had been set up to provide aid and it doubled as a base of operations of sort, but that did not mean it was a safe haven. They were still vulnerable to an attack if the Spiders got the chance, keeping everyone on high alert.

Countless wounded citizens were being tended to by different teams while Argon was busy staying in contact with those who were out on the battlefield. Kayla finished getting a woman's arm in a sling, her comparatively slight injury now no longer in need of direct attention, and give her a reassuring nod. "Does the sling feel secure?" The gentle voice was answered with a weak nod, the wounded woman clearly exhausted. "Try to get some rest, okay? If you need anything else, you can always signal me." With that, the s'kytri nodded and took off from her side to let her rest.

"There's a group of miners who are pinned down inside the food stores. They have multiple wounded, some in critical condition. We need to move, who has their hands free?" Argon spoke up once more, and Kayla immediately turned towards him and nodded. "Everyone else is occupied with a number of people who just came in, but they have it under control. I think we will have to do it by ourselves." The man did not hide his concern upon hearing her words but he, like everyone else, knew they were going to be spread thin throughout this all. "I suppose we don't have much of a choice, then. Get your gear, we have no time to waste."

It had not been the first time she had been out in the field today. Earlier she had aided with the recovery of a number of wounded, and where the other members of the team she was a part of took over once they were brought in, she herself was basically ordered to take a rest. While the others were hard at work when she returned she knew better than to interrupt and instead looked after the people who weren't as badly injured, but now it seemed it was time to get moving once more. As she passed by a backpack she slung it over her shoulder before quickly making her way towards the entrance of the building.

For a moment the light blinded her when Kayla stepped outside, causing her to shield it away from her eyes by bringing up her left hand while they adjusted. "I will scout the route and building from the skies. I will try to land somewhere nearby so we can meet up again before making our way inside." With that she unfolded her wings and bent her knees slightly, preparing to take off.

"Just be careful."

Kayla faintly smiled, then kicked her feet off the ground and shot upwards.

Aya Clarke

Lady Clarke, Saint of the Crimson Eagle
Objective1.png

  • Location: Outside New Haven, Katanos VII
  • Wearing: Knightly Armor, sans helmet. Helmet replaced by gas mask.
  • Carrying: Knightly Sword, Durasteel lance
  • Vehicle: Speeder Bike, soon enough.

There were few weapons better than a sword.

A sword was as reliable as could be, and with the sole exception of lightsabers, a weapon used almost exclusively by space magicians, there was little risk of finding it tested against a material that outright negated its potential. Not to mention, in planets such as this where Cortosis was to be found, there was no fear of the weapon being shut off from mere contact. A sword, then, was as reliable as could be. A Sword never betrayed you, it was a part of you. Perhaps here, the lessons of [member="Darth Metus"] would be valuable, though not as he originally intended them to be.

General Aya Clarke, the Knight who lead the Iron Crusade, commanded legions of droids, and recently held role as the primary General officer on Tatooine, now again stood prepared for battle. This time, her opponent was not a galactic power, but mercenaries, bandits, scum. The woman held little love for such vile creatures, who preyed on the weak to satisfy their own sickening lust for power and wealth. She hated them, in fact, with such a fire it lit her soul alight like little else could. These lowly bandits, they would not these people.

Perhaps that was why she had a temporary weapon fashioned for her, something to compliment the speeder bike she intended to take to the field. A heavy, thick, durasteel lance, which now rested against her shoulder as she walked through the CIS forces assembling. The weapon was large, massive even for one of its kind, and she had spent the time on the way to Kantos VII merely preparing to hold the thing as it would be used. A Knight, after all, was more than well trained, when it came to mounted warfare. And if she was expected to hold the line, she needed to be able to take advantage of that.

Aya glanced to the side, and noticed [member="Maple Harte"] speaking to another of the General staff, [member="Dalton Kenway"] she believed. She rested a hand on the hilt of her sword, the one not supporting her lance that was, and made her way over to the both of them. She managed to catch the request of Miss Harte, and quietly, without being too startling, made her presence known so they wouldn't jump. "Pardon the intrusion, but I do believe the young lady has a fair request General. However, I would be curious how she intends to remain undetected by the Spiders while scouting... not to mention how swiftly it would be done. Time is not a friend."

Kurenai lay in wait over looking the compound through her binoculars, eyeing the pratoling garuds, points of entreance etc. For a pirate fort/base it was small, open to one side with not much cover, but by golly did it have a lot of defensive turrets planets all over the place. Such would make a head on assault hard, and dropping arty though taking out the defenses would alert the raiders, making for one hell of a close quarters gun fight once CIS force broke into the base itself.

Fortunately Kurenai had other plans, neutralizing such a base would be done with more subtle methods then usual, old fashion spec ops like methodology, she was not called the crimson shadow for nothing. Still, there were still quite a few more pirates that she had expected, it was a good thing she would not be going at it alone, command reporting that a bounty hunter and others would be joining in on the raid. Where were they? she did not know, nor did she really care, as long as there was decent back up of some sort in case things went south that was good enough for her. "Decision decisions, should I start my attack now, get a head start and see how things go, or wait until the others show up, hmmmm".

Daxton put aside the macro binoculars he used to observe the target zone, damn shame such a nice defense setup was wasted on pirates. No patrols along the perimeter, guards either showing signs of drunkeness or intoxication from a wide array of recreational options. No discipline at all. But what was he supposed to expect from pirates? They were all bluff and bluster.

Still, charging in guns blazing would be tactically unsound, not with so many automated turrents positioned about and with no fodder to make breaches with, no this timehe would have to be creative.

It took some doing, but months prior to their arrival, he had been infiltrating the ranks of the Spider’s with his own Dark Acolyte team. Wearing false faces, these sleeper agents had been gathering intel on the layout of the base as well as the command structure of the organization.

At this very moment the team was working on hacking the turrent defense grid, once they control that, his team would have more than enough firepower to finish this part of the operation...

A voice caught his attention as she surveyed the city ahead. He turned at the sound of one [member="Maple Harte"] with a good few questions.

”Miss Harte,” he smiled briefly and nodded. ”Good question. Short answer? We can’t be sure of anything. Primarily I think its best we stay out of the buildings. Last thing we want is to all try and find shelter from an enemy and then get trapped, or worse.”

Her observation was spot on. He turned beside her to look back at the city.

”It’s all yours to scout with. I fully expect an ambush of sorts, hence the need for multiple routes instead of the most obvious when things go from bad to worse. If you take that building there,” he pointed to one on the right, ”you’ll note the structure is sound and no foundations are exposed. Be careful, and keep in contact.”

Another voice - [member="Aya Clarke"] – sidled up to the pair. This one looked far more kitted out for battle, akin to how old Force Templar’s used to look and Imperial Knights.

”Thank you for your concern. How about you cover Miss Harte as she scouts. You look like you’re up to the challenge. The sooner, the better, and then we can move out. The Spiders probably know we’re here already.”

Over the years, Dalton had come to the conclusion that the enemy were never as stupid or un-prepared as one would like. It all came down to who would dare draw first blood. He glanced over to the Sith Acolyte and the Alliance Commander, and then back to the two soliders before him.

”After that, then it’s time for the Confederacy to show it’s might, don’t you think?”

Aryn had been growing increasingly more accustomed to the halls and walkways of The Ferocity, considering the frequency with which he was called on for aid by [member="Srina Talon"], he had been aboard the ship at this rate far more often than he had been his own capital ship before its life was snuffed out at the First Battle of Dagobah. So as the ship had come in for a landing Aryn knew exactly where to make his way, heading out and down the ramp towards the familiar figure of the Echani who had called for his assistance, listening as she turned and spoke to him.

Reaching out, Aryn took a gentle hold of the scarf that she offered him, giving a vaguely amused smile as he carefully wrapped it around his face, covering his mouth from t he haze of dust that filled the air around them. "I did not realize you'd be taking care of my wardrobe for this mission." Though there was little more than a jest in his words, Aryn knew that of all people, Srina would be able to sense the lingering thankfulness beneath, he knew that as always she was well-prepared and well-equipped for the task at hand, and he would have no doubts as to what they would be doing.

Unlike most of the missions that Srina had brought Aryn along to so he might help the Confederacy, Aryn had come alone this time, his own troops had been spread far too thin against the First Order, and with more preparations within the Alliance itself, it had been a struggle for the Supreme Commander to even spare the time for this mission, and yet he had come, lightsaber strapped to his belt and with a reckless determination as always to see things through to their completion.

He had gathered the general briefing from Srina on their way to Katanos, but as they stood at the bottom of The Ferocity's ramp he could feel her unease, her anxiousness to get underway. It was an uncommon emotion to sense from Srina, usually she was completely in control of her surroundings, but it seemed for now that the pirates they were here to deal with would not let her fight on her own terms, he simple hoped that once they got properly underway, that would change quickly.

Oh thank the Force General Kenway hadn't turned out to be a Lizard in human disguise! She hated realities like that. The person would just act all innocent, and be like 'Oh I'm just an innocent human being...until I'm secretly a LIZARD!'

Skip. No. No lizards around here. Pirates. Pirates! Dalton was human...right? Not a lizard. Got that. Skip. Moving on.

Maple thankfully allowed none of these seriously philisophical questions to impede her listening to his responses. She looked to the building he had pointed out and then to Aya, who looked like she was all too comfortable with the old ways of the sword and lance just as she was with a stick.

She had laid out a route to the building Kenway pointed out in her head, and pointed to a large building running parallel across the street. Dalton then stated soon the Confederacy would show its might.

"I'm all for Might-Showing, Sir. I'll let you know the instant I come across anything."

Maple then went to Aya, addressing her as respectfully as possible. She knew she didn't have the same standing in the military, being a mere bounty hunter, and Clarke looked like she had seen her share of battle.

"I need you to take a route further down to that taler building down the road while I check the one General Kenway told me to check. There's a lot of open areas but I noticed in the route for the city that there were some tight alleys and speeder parking lots to move through, especially where I need you to go. Stick to a few back routes inbetween the buildings themselves. I also spot plenty of high standing wreckage from overturned speeders, so try and use that to cover your final approach to it. This might play havoc with your health later but if you get desperate move with any strong clouds of dust you see. It at least interfere with someone actively trying to get a bead on you. Both of us should make our priority the upper floors, as that will be where an ambush would be particularly effective, especially if they have rocket launchers. That whole route has a great view for an ambush. Any suggestions, I'm more than willing to hear them." She said to Clarke, trying to show she was a team player and NOT trying to get her killed.

Powering down the systems in her ship, Aova made ready to engage her hunt.

Criminal organizations trusted no one, not even people who were part of their crew. An outsider trying to get in, there were only so many ways. Trying to play the tramp on the way in might get her easy access to her mark, and alone time even, but she wouldn't be able to bring much hardware. Getting out, in that scenario, would be the difficult part.

Aova slipped from the cockpit, and moved to her room. She operated the ship by herself whenever possible, fewer people in on a job, fewer ways you had to cut the bottom line.

She could try to bluff her way in, pretending to be joining the group. Going in blind to that could be a quick way to get captured.

A thought that led to the third way to get in, get captured. You could bring as much hardware as you want, they'd bring it inside for you, but you'd be restrained somehow. That was the down side, not knowing how you were going to get free.

In her room, she slipped on a shoulder holster, packed with a stunner that could take down a rancor on one side, and a combat knife on the other. She slipped on a gunbelt, holstering another stunner opposite a heavy blaster pistol. She tied a set of throwing knives to either thigh, then slipped a few more knives around her person before slipping into an armored duster and a helmet.

On her way out, she grabbed a maser shotgun, and locked up the ship before moving out towards the pirate base.

Couple of hours prior...

The Crimson Shadow had made its landing onto the Junkie Spaceport slightly ahead from the rest, the planet giving off a horrifying vibe all together to the young Witch as she watched through the large window in the cockpit, sighing as she spun her chain and stood, putting on her long coat before she grabbed a breather mask from storage. It was a foreign concept, requiring a mask of any sort to breathe on a planet. Pain, Jart whispered softly against her ear; suffering, Lylek had continued, quiet yet sharper; do you feel it? the demon boombed into her mind as she made her way through the Light Freighter. "I do," Katrine had agreed as she reached out through the Force, her being shuddering at what she got back through her sense.

With the breath mask attached, she put it over her mouth and nose, using the string to keep it in place. In the cargo bay, she picked up her knife and slugthrower, attaching back to her waste before checking her light-shield bracelet then made it up to her speeder. Today was a day for acid slugs, without a doubt. The feelings she was getting out of New Haven were making her want to inflict a slow and painful death on those who had caused it but before she could do that, she wanted to help the people.

Katanos_Bar1.png

Present Time...

Getting in by herself had been easier but actually finding herself with all that pain and suffering both she and the spirits had picked up her arrival had been harder. For someone who had never much cared for those she didn't know, it was kinda devastating to suddenly be open to it and to be so eager to help. Katrine considered that it had been the spirits who were opening her up to caring for strangers though it didn't seem like something she shut off. "It's okay, just try to focus on your breathing," she instructed on the patient as she concentrated, healing his wound slowly. Her hands were bloody and the patient's pain was causing him to move but she was still moving as fast as she could.

Somewhere in the distance, she spotted Kayla leaving the medical center but she stay with the man as she finished him, her focus interrupted just before she could finish when she heard Srina's voice through the communicator. She let out a sigh and finished what she was doing. "You're going be fine, I promise," she told the man before she moved to dry her hands from the blood before she could activate her side of her device. "Srina, things are hectic in the city. Try to hurry. Let me know when you need me. Ceta out," she contacted back before she inspected another patient. She'd healed the wound for the most part but the miner was still weak to get up.

Once she was sure the rest of the patients were looked after by the medical staff, she repositioned her breath mask and poked her head out of the centre, trying to see if she could see where Kayla had wandered off. She was just setting off into the skies as she did, reaching through through the Force to her. 'Do you guys need an extra pair of hands?'

"Wait? Why wait?" Naha'va asked [member="Kurenai Yumi"] as she checked her utility belt with her Ragnos lightsaber and knife attached to it before rolling back her shoulders before she tilted her head to one side and then the next, glancing at the woman. "Oh, I wouldn't say wait for the others," she pointed out as the black eyes of the Verd glanced over to the female. She was dressed in a suit best suited for this line of work, though it provided little protection in itself, hardly mattered. The once Emperor's Hand was letting the moment sink in as she readied herself, it had been so long since she'd been used for this line of work, she was getting bored with the Vicelord's games. Like the party they'd thrown recently, she didn't care much for it.

Inside her mind, Anastasia gave a roar quiet as that of a cub, the monstrous strength inside her growing. She seemed eager to fight, if not Naha'va then someone in their path. Naha'va would give her that, in a sense, though she had no intention of drawing in an open combat. No, this was far more to her liking.

"What is with their defenses?" She asked next, glancing at the binoculars the woman beside her was holding, "can we get a small window open?" If not, they would figure out a way. Infiltration could be considered a suicide mission, though Naha'va wasn't quite willing to die for the cause or for just anything. Not that this body mattered, the blond of a Mandalorian Vicelord, but she had her use, that much was sure. Right now, she only required her absolute obedience in order for her to do what she needed to. Not because of the miners, Naha'va didn't possess the compassion in order to care for them. This was an outlet, and she took pleasure knowing she could slit the throats of the pirates without anyone batting an eye at her. And blood spilled should have calmed down the child whose mind she possessed.

Kurayami hadn't tested the reworking of his old A-wing in combat yet, now seemed to be as good a time as any. THe call came through that there was a fleet of pirates above Katanos VII in the Mid Rim. He readied his ship, sliding the canopy shut as he settled into the cockpit. He started by getting the ships sensor suite fully online so he could see around him, smiling as the panoramic display lit up and then synced to his HUD the most relevant information. Once all that was done he began the preflight checks, starting with controls and finishing with starting the engines. The sound of the two custom J-77's was calming to him, putting him into an almost meditative state as he took off and set course for the planet in question.

Once the jump was made and he reverted back to realspace he opened a channel to all CIS forces in the area.

"Yellow 13 reporting in. Point me towards the pirates and I'll make sure that their fighters are distracted enough for the rest to take on the larger ships."

As soon as the request was made he started to see the pings showing up on his IFF as hostile. Not many friendlies in the area it didn't seem. Oh well, he still had a job to do. Though the sheer number of craft made him more than a bit thankful for having pushed this craft beyond the edge when it came to speed and maneuverability, but he'd also be a much more tempting target given the complete lack of any combat worthy shielding on the craft. Where was the fun if you didn't risk getting vaped during a dogfight though?

Kurenai put down her binoculars as Anastasia made her comments, though keeping her usual stoic expression was very wary of the woman, not because of her skill or family ties, or current profession, no it was something else. From their first meeting on Tatooine she something had always felt off about the woman, an odd vibe that she somehow knew who this person was, like that had done something that had affected her past, the question was why?

Such mysteries would have to wait until they took care of this base, "The compound has several automated turrets on top of every building from what I can see, rather large, most likely high calibre to take out light vehicles and aircraft, not something you would want shooting at you". "The barracks seem to be in the middle of the base, pretty open, little cover, but at the same time would make it hard to sneak in, our best bet would be to enter through the hanger bay to the side". As for waiting comment voice by woman, "Yes, we could go in right away, but again, backup plan for if things go south, as for how we close enough without being spotted, me thinks I have an Idea".

Flicking on her communicator Kurenai opened up a line to Daxton, knowing the Sith Lord was somewhere nearby, "Bane, your good at making things bow up, don't you? What would you say to causing a distraction for us, make an opening so we can infiltrate the base"? Doing so would get the pirates attentions, herself doubting the slightly to really intoxicated gang members or the auto turrets would be smart enough to recognize diversionary tactics. In addition, such a method could possibly draw more troops out of the complex, leaving less resistance on the inside for herself and Anastasia.

Objective: Kill

He crouched on a balcony in the alley. Dark beskar'gam covered his form. From his waist hung his buy'ce on the netting attached there. A beskad hilt rose from his right shoulder while a custom revolver was strapped down on his right thigh. In his gauntlet hand rested the energy bow which hummed lightly and cast a purple glow on his features.

Below, a story down, a group of the pirates known as the Spiders waited for their larger group to arrive. They had been partaking in raids and attacks on the civilian miners, stealing their ore and killing the people. And so the CIS had arrived to curb the terrorism and bring order to the lawless.

A cold grin crossed his face.

He was here to assist in this. However, he wasn't here to play nice and work well with others. He was here to release the monster within, to bathe in his enemy's blood, to give the pirates something to fear that would follow those who escaped with a horror that would make their bones melt to tallow.

Standing he stepped off the edge and dropped the meters to the alley below. Landing in their midst surprised the motley crew into a frozen state of shock. Before they could react the Mad Exile attacked.

Spinning in a circle he raked the three immediately in his vicinity, the energy bow's plasma burning into their flesh with one getting lashed in the face. The plasma didn't burn the woman's eyes so much as it flash boiled the green orbs and sent her screaming blindly to the ground.

Planting his feet he extended his left arm, his right hand thrumming the plasma string and sending energy coated quarrels into the pirates. These were carefully placed shots that didn't kill the pirates. Quarrel to the gut, the groin, the knee, which sent them falling in screaming agony to the ground. He strummed the energy bow like a master guitarist who methodically flicked his fingers creating a symphony of sound.

The symphony of sound crafted by the Mad Man was one of horrendous torment and fear.

Looking at the fallen pirates who were rolling across the alley in varying degrees of agony caused a grin of pleasure to cross the man's face. Deactivating the energy bow and collapsing the weapon he stowed it into it's sheath upon his back. Pulling the satchel from the balcony above he got to work, a light whistle coming from him in a merry tune.

Ten minutes later had the seven pirates tied and hanging upside down from ropes anchoring their feet from the balcony. Muad stood there quietly listening to the groans and cries from those swaying. One of the women snarled a retort at the beskar armored warrior. "You think you gonna get away with this? You stupid git. More Spiders are coming, and when they get here you are gonna die!"

Stepping forward Muad drew the beskad and sliced down in a single motion, severing her in twain from crotch to the crown of her head. As the two halves swung free of one another in a shower of visceral gore that coated her compatriots, a new round of screaming ensured. Cleaning the beskad before sheathing it he spoke quietly.

"Let's see how many of you I can gut and skin alive before your friends arrive."

Pulling free the curved kal he advanced amidst a new wave of terrified cries for mercy, mercy that was not to come.
