SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Variable Charge Weapon: The Ghostfire has multiple fire settings. In its standard mode, the Ghostfire provides pretty typical holdout blaster performance, with a short range, average blaster pistol damage, and a notably limited amount of ammunition. In disruptor mode, all of its blaster gas and power is directed into a making a single but very powerful bolt equivalent to that of the DX-2 Disruptor Pistol that is theoretically capable of completely disintegrating the typical organic being down to the molecular level. This is obviously useful for ensuring the defeat of opponents, but it also sees use by spies as a way to dispose of evidence or break into and out of rooms.
  • Dissembled Weapon: The Ghostfire is similar to the Defender Sporting Blaster in that it easily splits up into four different parts whose smaller size makes them easier to conceal and more likely to foil weapons scanners: a receiver, barrel, trigger mechanism, and grip. Each of these components can be further disguised from scanners and physical searches by the addition of disposable attachable elements that make them appear to be ordinary objects. The receiver can thread on a spray cap with small reservoir of chosen liquid where the barrel is normally threaded in, making it appear to be a bottle of perfume, cologne, or industrial lubricant - aesthetic markings on the receiver are usually chosen to help complete this disguise. Similarly, the blaster barrel's threading where it normally meets the receiver can also accept a stylus tip, making it appear and actually be a decent datapad stylus. The trigger assembly which also contains the pistol's power supply can also take a standard powerport plug socket, making it an effective powerpack charger for any number of sundry devices. Finally, the weapon's wooden grip is hollowed out to be a passable woodwind instrument, with it frequently being carved with motiffs appropriate to the user's background cover. The further use of neuranium throughout the weapon makes these components difficult to identify on most weapon scanners and other sensors. It usually takes about a minute to assemble or dissemble the Ghostfire, though practiced users can perform this task much quicker.
  • Silenced Weapon: The Ghostfire has a built-in blaster suppressor, making it an almost silent weapon. This makes it ideal for a discrete disposals of foes, though some care must still be taken care of to ensure that the visible blaster bolt isn't seen (often accomplished by firing the weapon at point-blank range).
  • Snap Trigger: Like the ELG-3A, the Ghostfire uses a snap trigger, requiring firm pressure on the trigger in order to actually fire the weapon - this is a safety feature as the weapon has no other safety, though some dislike the heavy though smooth trigger pull. Pushing lightly on the trigger activates the weapon's targeting laser.
  • Targeting Laser: The Ghostfire does not have any external sights, as they would likely be a tip-off to the weapon's true nature when disguised or could snag on clothing. Instead, the Ghostfire using the priming laser of the blaster to act as a visual targeting laser by lightly holding onto the trigger. Doing so projects a faint red light out of the barrel and onto the target/environment that directly corresponds to the forthcoming blaster's bolt trajectory.
  • Stun Setting: Like most blaster weapons, the Ghostfire does have a stun setting that works in both fire modes. In typical holdout mode, this stun bolt is as effective as that of a typical blaster pistol. On disruptor mode, however, the bolt is exceptionally powerful, capable of knocking out a typical bipedal humanoid for up to half a day if left undisturbed or capable of subduing large beasts like banthas for an hour or two.
STRENGTHS
  • Exceptional Power (Disruptor Mode): The Ghostfire can pack an exceptional punch in its disruptor mode, being fully capable of entirely disintegrating the average organic or blasting through many structure's walls.
  • Small and Concealable: The Ghostfire is very easy to conceal thanks to its inherent small size and neuranium alloy construction when assembled, but it is even harder to detect when dissembled into everyday objects.
WEAKNESSES
  • Limited Ammunition: The Ghostfire has a very limited ammunition supply in both of its fire modes.
  • Short Range: Like most holdout pistols, the Ghostfire has a relatively short range that is measured in the tens of meters - it is easily outranged by most other blaster pistols and rifles.
DESCRIPTION
With an eye towards making inroads into new markets and clienteles, Lucerne Personal Defense realized that despite its name, it had not produced an actual defensive weapon that would be suitable for diplomats, corporate executives, and other civilian VIPs. To that end, the company decided to produce a classic holdout blaster pistol to fit that void. While the original design borrowed liberally from the existing Defender Sporting Blaster and ELG-3A designs already popular with that clientele, the weapon's ability to be easily concealed drew the personal attention of Gir Quee in its development cycle. With an eye towards eventually increasing Directorate intelligence operations closer to the Core, the man advocated tailoring the design further for covert use by intelligence agents and special operatives. This led to the Ghostfire design including a built-in blaster suppressor as well as a disruptor fire mode. Yet the Ghostfire is not truly a perfect military design due to its short range and very limited ammunition capacity. Still, it seems likely to spread out throughout the galaxy in small numbers among those who can afford it and intelligence operatives aligned with the Lucerne consortium's ethos.
