Apprentice_tournament0001.jpg
[ THE RULES: ]
Both duelers are still Padawans during the duel.
No foul play. Daella is the ref and will call fouls if needed.
The Force is permitted. Both fighters get one training saber. They can't use their opponent's if he/she drops it.
Three training saber strikes to the body equal elimination.
A fighter can also be eliminated by being knocked out of the ring, or going unconscious.
Both fighters have until December 22 to finish the fight. I will decide on the winner if no one was eliminated.
Have fun!

In the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the Grand Apprentice Tournament had begun. The top Jedi Padawans have been selected. It was now the third round of the tournament. Both participants managed to best their previous opponents and were now just one win away from the free-for-all finale.

The fight would be in the Jedi Temple's Sparring Arena. Daella stood to the side of the circular ring. @[member="Loran Nera"] and @[member="Kei Amadis"] were asked to take their places on the opposite sides of the arena. Spectators also filled the room and stood several meters from the arena. These spectators included prospecting Jedi Knights and Masters looking for a Padawan, as well as the other participating in the tournament yet not fighting at the moment.

Once both fighters were ready, Daella gave the signal to begin the fight.

What an Epicanthx felt when he walked into a tournament like this was nothing but a sense of belonging. A warrior species by blood and action, they were at home in an arena like this, like the familiar smell that reminded you of where you came from, or the taste and texture in the air of your grandfather's one recipe that you won't ever be able to forget. That is what leather meeting stone, the familiar sensation of the arena underfoot, it made his feet grip it and release, each step another memory etched into the tournament soon to be.

Sleek temple robes, closer to the body for freedom of movement, not the flowing kind, they were a darker tan than usual, fitting the strength of the look the Epicanthx already had in his dark jasper eyes. Underneath a close fitting black undershirt, and tanned temple trousers, tucked into black leather boots, standing firm.

There was a small nod of the head to his opponent. A blue training saber on his waist, not unity his trained weapon of choice, but he'd practiced with this, getting the grip and the feel of it, learning the weapon's fine intricacies. It wasn't his weapon, not till the end of the fight anyway.... Win or lose he was here to do himself, and his opponent proud.

Saluting the tip of the saber to his forehead, it hummed into life, falling into a high guard, two hands on the beam, raised up high in Krayt's Thorn. Shoulders made ready, the beam was angled high above and slightly behind his head, in two hands. His opponent faced a basic first acceleration made real, pressure ready to be applied. Kei's stance was well and clearly weighted either to make the first attack, or to push forward into the first aggressive defense.

Inspiration. Have fun! OOC - The more you give me, the more you'll get from me.

Loran walked into the main training room of the temple on coruscant with a pair of all white jedi training pants on and without a shirt, his shoes were all white with a pair of all white sparring gloves... his toned and athletic build shown as a well muscled physique, it wasn't to show off his body since there was nobody here to impress but it was so he would not feel hindered by robes or cloth of sorts.

The night before he meditated with his newly forged training saber that when lit gave off an icy blue hue, exactly like his own sabers that he chose to fight with, his race being a warrior race from the planet of Vortusa, his training on the world being that of the royal guard and his discipline being chaotic and ataru yet as he walks in his body posture and the smirk of his face being a chaotic form of antagonistic arrogance, as he walks into the sparring ring he held his blade in his hand using reverse shien but his intentions is to use ataru to best his own opponent. As he looks at his opponent and see the mans expression Loran chuckles to himself and then walks calmly into the center.

As he gets into the center where the duel would soon begin Loran lifts his fingers to his head and salutes his opponent after being saluted and returns the gesture in a more friendly and respectful manner, as he stands there he holds the hand with his saber freely straightened downward and holds his free hand up toward his chest, Loran's mind is focused and ready for a duel and as it is he holds himself as a warrior and not as a pacifist so therefor it is even more appropriate for a duel against his opponent.

Hopefully you don't get confused on what I wrote

So it began, pushing off from a firmly rooted stance, legs more than ready to engage. Advancing.. advancing... force pulling at Loran's feet, attacking his stance to put him off balance, trying to attack the basics. Kei wanted him on the back foot from the word go, that was Djem So. Two strikes, now swinging down in a strong, pressured form, straight above Loran, aiming from head to toe, aiming to go exactly through the middle of the man. It was the core of a basic falling avalanche, one strike to hit his guard and offbalance, then the next following up to go all the way to his feet. Engaging the shoulders, Kei used a forceful double step, using gravity, using pressure, and using the force to hammer the blow home in brute force.

Each strike in Djem So was always aimed through the opponent, applying a constant and necessary pressure, not to just make contact with their saber like other forms, but to go beyond it. Kei's technique was that of a padawan, in speed and strength, he also only had half the combination here, but it clearly showed he understood the basics of the style and beyond. Maximum pressure applied to overwhelm the opponent as soon as possible. The longer the fight the more tiring it was for Kei.. So Kei's stance took him as close into Loran as possible, and the smaller the gap the better.

A standard approach but an effective one. Djem So when taken to the extreme, like Soresu or Vaapad it needed a steady state of mind to use it as a Jedi. That is what Loran found hitting him, pressure and desire to win, but not lethality, never desire to harm, just a highly developed warrior's desire to win here.

It was awesome! Very defining. Never have to worry, if I do have any concerns I will PM you! :), please do the same freely.

Loran quickly flipped out of the reach of his opponent when he tried to take his feet from his and landed five feet away from where he was, he smirked at his opponent and remembered his youth, he had been among the jedi since he was six, training and becoming ready for anything, and now here he was ready to take on another apprentice to show his mettle.

As he remained he witnessed his opponent jump high into the air and came down on him, he kneeled and rolled out of the way casuing his opponent to land without his prey, as loran remained there he held his blade in reverse shien still and stalked around him utilizing patience to outwit his opponent.

When he was young he trained in ataru and recently went back to the art form, it was his trade and was his art and what a wonderful thing it was, as he remained he smirked at the man in front of him as he stalked around him and took in the foes traits and made sure to study him, footing, breathing habits, even tactics and styles and from what he could see his opponent is using djem so, nice tactics.

sory it's not longer, been feeling drained on this site recently

(OOC Note: Sorry typo)

To avoid the pressure rather than engage, signaled a clever move by his opponent, receiving a nod of respect from Kei. Now at a kneel he could use it to push off, the pressure was only redoubled, Kei's intensity growing. Loran had all of two seconds to pace, there was little pause whatsoever as the Epicanthx spun around to swing. Pushing up, the turn of the body itself added power, the shoulders engaged, the hips, planting the legs firmly on the floor, he used the stance to bring maximum momentum, from a full rotation of the body. Bringing that momentum's inherent power to bear on Loran's side.

One strike, just one simple swing had all of this technique....

The beam came across from Loran's left side, aiming to try and go straight through the middle of his opponent. A wide arc, and a strong one, hoping to catch his opponent's pacing side motion, and aimed at Loran's mid riff, making it all the harder to just dodge out of the way this time. It was only a padawan's strength, but it had the core technique and understanding that Kei might literally try and smash through the guard of Loran using his chosen style.

Following it up, in a constant motion, there was no break, and no pause in the pressure of his second attack.

A firm two handed grip held fast on the training blade, constantly closing any gap with Kei's advancing steps, it circled around Kei's head, and once again engaged the muscles of his shoulders to smash right into any block, this time aimed higher, a somewhat quicker, tighter movement, but still a powerful circled strike. Again the beam came around left to right, aimed at Loran's neck, a Krayt's eye technique as it extended fully outstretched between them.

It's awesome, only write what you want to write :) All good for me.

He used his focus to spin on his heel and deflect his swing on Loran and then when it came about the blade came close to his body before he rolled out of range of it, it came very close. He remembered a duel like it when he was a child, when he was ten his former mentor and him came close to death when they were on Tython dueling and came across a lone sith that wished to kill them, granted they were on a secluded part of the planet at the time but it was still tyhton.

During the fight Loran bested the opponent with strategy by mixing the principles of soresu with the chaotic forms of ataru and beat his sith opponent by drawing on the forces to dodge the opponents attacks and force the opponent to lose his mind and attack which drained him, loran's master could not be saved that day and died at the hands of this mysterious sith... but unlike that day loran was not up against a sith or his master but was against another jedi.

As he got back to his feet he saluted his opponent out of respect and held his stare on his opponent and then did a sprint and sprinted toward him, at the last moment he did a rolled and held his blade angular from his body to slice his opponents leg if he was not careful, not to mention his blade was dull as hades so he could not do too much harm.

Hope you like :)

Watching the opponent cleverly roll away again, gave Kei room and time to prepare, but destroyed his pressure. Breathing heavily, energy and oxygen back into the muscles, the training beam fell back into a two handed trailing guard behind him, and he waited. The only saving grace here was that both were hopefully expanding energy to keep this up, Kei in power, and his opponent in speed.

The Epicanthx put the weight on his back foot, slamming his weapon upward towards Loran's, crashing straight through it. He knew the technique like an expert but with so little experience in melee, and it being so easy to forget defense in Djem so, Kei miss placed the heavy swing, taking a stinging hit on the wrist. Though you wouldn't know he'd just been stung, as it didn't stop the padawan one bit, there was hardly a blink.

Down the weapon came in a fanning motion, diagonally down one side then the other, one side then the other, shoulder to opposite hip, shoulder to opposite hip, close to the body, in tight to his opponent, and trying to just walk right over him. It'd be everything Loran could do to avoid the blows, each done with maximum intensity, and maximum force. There was something behind the eyes, deeper in them. Especially now Kei was one point down, it drove the competitive warrior's spirit, pushing all the harder to regain a level footing.

Unknown to Kei was what Loran thought on. There was a mere flicker of a similar presence Loran might feel facing him as they dueled, deep in Kei's chest, the implanted crystal there speaking of many things unseen in the force, times long forgotten, thankfully so...

Yep! Was very well written, clear and precise :) One to you! The crystal has a long backstory we are writing out, just giving us something else to play with.

Loran decided to use a flurry of defensive sweeps, swoops and bats as he tried his best to avoid his opponents blade but to no avail his wrist was slashed in the flurry by his opponent and he backed away via a force jump ended in a backward flip, last time this happened he ended up almost having tendon damage in his wrist, luckily this was not as severe, as he allowed the force to guide him he waited for his opponent to make an advancement, his only option now was patience and cunning.

The last time he was forced to use cunning was when he lost his second master, a knight by failing to adhere to the code, he lost his mind and become furious when a sith knight provoked him during the fight, he almost lost his own life but the knight somehow used the opponents blade against him and ended the sith's life while his own was taken, it was such an awful sight and Loran made the choice to be masterless since he seems to have death follow him, it was not an easy thing to watch your masters be killed in battle but he promised himself and them he would not fail again and even though this was not a fight he would not let his opponent best him.

As he closed his eyes and redirected the force guidance he quickly redirected his mind and let the force flow in him like a raging sea and smirked even more as he opened them and then ran toward his immobile opponent, sprinting toward his opponent he deactivated his own blade but held it still and sprinted up to him, at the last moment he jumped through the air and went for a spin kick to his opponents dome, as he landed he rolled and then got back to his feet and smirked at him.

Hope you enjoyed the post, I finally got my muse back :D

Assuming a high two handed guard, and getting ready to block the swing that never came. Kei started to sidestep to gain striking distance, but fast and fluid the foot connected with his shoulder, it nearly took the big man off his feet, staggering the Padawan back a few paces, there'd be a shining bruise on his back tomorrow. A smile came across his face, respect and admiration behind it, but it didn't stop an Epicanthx's determination to win one iota.

A sense of the past, old, old times, moved a hand outstretched, and helped a fist to clench. Before Loran stone would crack, the ground resonated in an outpouring of the force, the center of a stone slab sped up, vibrating to incredible speeds. Dust kicked into the air as stone broke loose, and was sent in a forceful push straight towards Loran. Kiskla had trained him to hone the arts at the temple, but through the crystal's shards in his chest, he felt how to use the resonance, mimicking what had come before in hundreds of duels. He felt it out, point to point, memory shard to crystal, the crystal to his body, arm, and then poured into the stone.

Done in a Jedi way, no large lumps of dangerous stone came, shattered instead into fine dust, now blocking Loran's vision ahead. Force pushed forward to try and encompass his opponent, to daze or blind him for a second. Through that dust, a double step lunged Kei forward, and a blue training saber thrust in powerfully toward his opponent's chest, the centre point of his target, and again the hardest point to dodge.

You are a fantastic writer :) it's a pleasure.

Seeing as his kick landed but not where he wanted it to be he smirked and then found a wave wash over him sent from his opponent, the thing stirred up the ground before him and released dust into the air but before it could blind him Loran closed his eyes and remained calm while trying to sense everything around him, he would not be fooled yet as he opened his eyes he still got dust in them... now he was blinded and this was not good.

As he remained still and calm, with blurry vision he closed his eyes again trying to sense his surroundings but he was far less trained in most for it, he basically honed her perfectly muscular but also athletic tone and build while working on some of his powers to build them up to take down most, he also nearly perfected his saber combat and martial arts, his was a resolve of serious formational hazard and one that would not end until he had bested every opponent, the only way to gain a warriors respect is to beat him... the only other way is to show heart and skill in battle, no matter if that battle arena is a dueling ring.

As he felt around with his less tuned senses he figured out what his opponent was trying to do, but too late... as the blade came for his chest he leaned backward performing a matrix maneuver and holding it while blinded, he barely escaped the blade, twisting his body and doing it fast with force speed it seemed as if time stopped or slowed just for him and then twisted around then blade and then ducked and rolled away, he was not having this and would not be out maneuvered, he was cut like his opponent and now he was on the prowl, if his opponent wanted the kill or win he would need to work for it.
@[member="Kei Amadis"]
The aforementioned cut is the one on his wrist, I am trying to make this last since it is enjoyed... thank you for the duel bro.

@[member="Loran Nera"]

Again Loran had next to no time to stand and ready a guard, let alone get a step, that pressure was ever there in how his opponent fought, right on his heels every step of the way, tiring as it was to exert. Kei could have come after him, used the space to make a devastating spinning attack, but something else drew through the force from the experiences he had in his chest, the blurry crystal shards of conflicts and battles read off like a laundry list of cunning techniques, if only he could see them all.... It was in the way Kei stood, just something, there was something more to the variety than merely fighting a Padawan's array of experience. Though the fight had started to cause him a sweat, a bead of which trickled down his forehead.

"Let's try this." He grinned, extending a hand, a push in the force echoed forward, the power only that of a padawan, and simple enough to counter. Then with a hammering energy, not just one padawan's force push was sent toward Loran, but a second in behind it, was thrust, faster than the first, and closing in on it. The two energies coming together like a breaking wave, a double impact rushing ever closer, the crest of which would hopefully break upon Loran like the tip of that wave, cracking open on the ocean, or in this case the stone of the arena floor. A double tap, hopefully sending him right out of the ring, or flooring him with the sensation of being hit by these energies breaking apart on each other, the stone around Loran cracking slightly on their impact.

Kei advanced at a run, with heavy solid steps, claiming the ground as his own, circling the weapon over and over in his grip. The beam went vertically level with Kei's chin, and attacked diagonally downwards to Loran's already hit hand, trying to use the fact it might be slower to gain another hit on the same arm, avoiding the wounded wrist itself. The intent not to cause damage but to use an advantage on a hopefully slower limb.
