CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
SECTOR 14B, MAHPOREEM
[REDACTED]

For the last 12 hours, sector 14B of Mahporeem had been on a complete and total lockdown.

No one besides authorized military personnel were permitted anywhere near the sector, and even the Mahporeem Militia, who normally had no qualms about going up against the Mahporeenian Imperial Army, was choosing to stay clear of the area as Imperial presence only continued to swell in and around the junkyard area. Soon enough, the MIN Night Reaver touched down on the sector's outskirts as Ronhar and his men exited the ship.

"What's the situation", Ronhar asked the nearest Storm Commando as he began taking charge of the Mahporeenian operation.

"Sir", the commando replied as he began to address Ronhar, "the area has been only total lockdown for the last 12 hours. No one has been permitted to enter or exit the area, and we currently have the perimeter under complete Imperial control. That being said, all of our patrols that were sent into the area have yet to report in, and we've been unable to contact them all this while. Something appears to be interfering with our comms."

Ronhar sighed at the news. That hadn't been what he was hoping to hear.

"I understand. What about the expert?"

"He's just arrived and is on standby. We're awaiting your orders to begin the next incursion."

"Steady now, solider. I need to talk to him before we send anyone else in. I want to know EXACTLY what it is that we're dealing with here. The Night Reaver will continue scouting from above for any signs of the missing troopers, but no one else is to enter the scrap fields without my express knowledge and approval. Is that understood, soldier?"

"Sir yes sir!", the Commando replied as he ran off to inform the others of Ronhar's newest orders. He glanced at the entrance to the junkyard, and something shuddered deep within him. Whatever was in there clearly couldn't be good.

Ronhar walked over to where Thorus Valerian Thorus Valerian was standing and introduced himself to the man, hopeful that he would at least have some idea of what Ronhar would be going up against...

Valerian was unsure what to make of this planet and its properties. Something was off with the idea of a junkyard being the center of Imperial dominance on this world, something his upbringing seemed to dislike. He was surprised by the emotional sentiment, by the judgemental thoughts that rushed into his mind. Truth was, he did not care. He should not care.

The Imperial Gunship set down and the Praetorian along with his staff squad emerged. All in red armor, all with various obvious tasks. His comms officer had a capable long-range device as his backpack as well as antennas from his pauldrons, the aid seemed to carry several data devices as well as misc equipment. The others were either guards or officers, or both, tasked with protection and orders.

His grey eyes watched as Ronhar Tane Ronhar Tane approached him, he offered a stiff dip of his head in greeting and acknowledgement of the man's rank and role. There was no small amount of curiosity in Valerian as to what the issue at hand might be. He had no idea. He was not familiar with the planet, but certainly with military procedures.

"You have established a containment zone from what I gathered. When was the last contact to each patrol and what was their intended path? Anything that is necessary to be known about this Sector ... 14B?" A quick glance towards the aid reassured his memory, even though the soldier did not say or show anything. "Do you have eyes and scanners in the air?"

"You have established a containment zone from what I gathered. When was the last contact to each patrol and what was their intended path? Anything that is necessary to be known about this Sector ... 14B?"

Ronhar frowned underneath his helmet at Thorus Valerian Thorus Valerian 's questions. Had no one informed him about the local terrain of the area or the strength of Imperial Remnant forces operating within in the sector? Had he not been given even a basic briefing of the situation at hand? What the hell were his men doing, leaving Thorus in the dark like this? Ronhar was going to have to have a stern talking to with the members of Salvage Team Six after everything was said and done!

He certainly looked important and rather intimidating, which might have been the reason no one had approached him and offered him an overview of what was going on. He was clearly dressed in the armor of an Imperial Knight, and Ronhar wondered if he might just be a force sensitive.

"Last contact with Patrol Team Delta was nearly four hours ago. Since then, its been radio silence, and all attempts to contact its members have met in failure. In fact, its almost as if something is jamming or otherwise interfering with our comms. I'd had our technicians boost the signal strength of our communications, but so far, we haven't received anything back. I can only assume the men we sent inside are either incapacitated or dead", Ronhar remarked grimly to Thorus.

"As for Sector 14B itself, it, much like the rest of the planet, is primarily covered in scrapyards and junkyards, filled to the brim with all sorts of decaying machinery and obsolete vehicles and starfighters. From the last audit with completed, Sector 14B was somehow overlooked, ignored, or deliberately not recorded in the audit, which leads me to believe that some sort of foul play is going on here. As large as the planet is, for an entire sector to go overlooked is simply far to large a mistake for even the most incompetent bureaucrat to make. Something odd is going on here, and I intend to get to the bottom of it."

"Do you have eyes and scanners in the air?"

"I've got the MIN Night Reaver conducting aerial reconnaissance of the sector, and like I said previously, we are attempting to have scanners locate the position of our troops, though again such scans have failed to yield any relevant date or information about the situation. I don't suppose-"

Before Ronhar could finish his thought, a blood curdling scream echoed across the sector, easily loud enough for Ronhar, Thorus and all the Imperial Remnant forces in the area to hear. It lasted several seconds before the sector fell into an uneasy silence once more.

"That can't be good", Ronhar muttered dryly as he motioned for his team to join him and Thorus. "If we're going to save any of those men, we'll need to go in now. It's a risky move, I know, but we can't afford to wait any longer. You ready?, Ronhar asked as he and his team began walking toward the entrance of the junkyard.

"No." He said, with a surprising finality. A short pause followed. He had heard the scream and he had heard enough to decide that going in was some heroic nonsense at best and foolish at worst. They were soldiers of the Empire, or of Imperial descent at least. They sought out neither heroism nor stupidity.

"Panic and foolhardy hasty decisions are ill-placed, Captain. Whatever caused that scream either means it wanted us to hear it or the one who screamed is already deceased, neither compels us to simply follow suit with the disappeared patrols." The Praetorian's voice was confident and calm, not condescending but still authoritarian. "I am not intent on losing you or any more of your men here."

The red gauntlet of his arm reached out to his aid, promptly a dataslate was placed inside. He started writing and speaking at the same time. The screen had seen heavy use, so did the casing of the device, certainly not the newest.

"How often did the Sector slip through the audit? Who was responsible for the audit and wo was overseeing it? Summarise orbital traffic controls and any and all shipments and arrivals that arrived for this sector, as well as those that did not arrive in other sectors or at their destinations. Compare the data to the audit in terms of time."

"Blockade all exits and entries to the sector. I will have my gunship join your ship in aerial reconnaissance. Send in probe droids if you have any. Do you have any scrap-droids working in there?"

General Valerian ran down the list of recommendations, not orders, as he typed them and transmitted them to Tane at the same time. He would not stop him from entering the sector with his men, but he hoped that the other Imperial would see the wisdom in this disciplined delay.

"No."

Thorus Valerian Thorus Valerian 's statement rang out like the sound of a heavy blaster firing, and Ronhar almost couldn't believe what he had just said. Anger suddenly began to swell inside of Ronhar as he turned back to look at the Imperial Knight. Was he being serious right now? Was he refusing to aid Ronhar in saving his men because they weren't his people? Or was he simply afraid, unwilling to face an unknown variable without doing proper assessment? Regardless of the reason, Ronhar was about to deliver a scathing retort until Thorus continued his line of thinking:

"Panic and foolhardy hasty decisions are ill-placed, Captain. Whatever caused that scream either means it wanted us to hear it or the one who screamed is already deceased, neither compels us to simply follow suit with the disappeared patrols. I am not intent on losing you or any more of your men here."

The insults that Ronhar were about to speak aloud died in his throat, and he begrudgingly had to admit that the Imperial Knight had a point. Rushing headfirst into danger without conducting any sort of scouting or reconnaissance was a foolhardy and dangerous idea at best, and doing so would surely be playing into the hands of whatever it was that was lurking within the sector. Ronhar took a moment to calm himself. The Imperial Knight was right, naturally, but that didn't mean Ronhar liked his assessment and decision. Still, he was apparently committed to keeping the rest of Ronhar's forces alive, and for that Ronhar could not find any fault with the man.

How often did the Sector slip through the audit? Who was responsible for the audit and wo was overseeing it? Summarise orbital traffic controls and any and all shipments and arrivals that arrived for this sector, as well as those that did not arrive in other sectors or at their destinations. Compare the data to the audit in terms of time. Blockade all exits and entries to the sector. I will have my gunship join your ship in aerial reconnaissance. Send in probe droids if you have any. Do you have any scrap-droids working in there?"

The number of questions that Thorus started asking Ronhar came faster than an E-Web firing on full automatic, and Ronhar had to think for a moment before he could answer. Yet for a second time today, Ronhar's response was again cut off by screaming, though these particular screams were much closer to him than the last and were punctuated with the sound of blasters firing. Ronhar spun around toward the source of the commotion, the entrance to the junkyard, and he noticed a number of Junktroopers with their weapons raised, standing just a few feet away from a downed droid. One of them waved Ronhar over, saying:

"Captain, I think you should come see this".

Cradling his Model 216 "Big Game Hunter" aloft, Ronhar slowly approached the downed droid that his Junktroopers had destroyed, and he bent down to more closely inspect the target. As he looked the droid over, he couldn't help but notice that the droid was no droid at all, but rather some unholy fusion of flesh and metal. Though it was humanoid in shape, it didn't resemble any human that Ronhar had ever seen, and he couldn't help but feel disgusted at the sight of it. Though full of blaster holes and covered in blaster burns, Ronhar could easily tell that the thing in front of him was no natural creature, and a chill started running down his spine. He turned to Thorus Valerian Thorus Valerian , asking him:

"You have any idea what this thing is?"

Ronhar didn't even need him to answer, because deep down he already knew what he was dealing with. He had seen them on Brosi, though perhaps not in the configuration that was present here, but he could tell what it was all the same. While he didn't know exactly what species it was, Ronhar was willing to bet his life that the creature his men had just put down...was a Sithspawn!

Valerian followed close behind Tane, his left hand rested on the holstered blaster pistol. The grey gaze stared at the corpse in front and he was not sure what to make of it. He had not seen such for a long time, not since the wars against the Maw. He had tried to avoid any and all Sith in his services, even when he served an Emperor that was Sith. The Empire's ideals were always greater.

Now he looked at something that frightened him. Something that profoundly disgusted him. Was it a droid with flesh or was it an organic life that was thoroughly and completely distorted?

He wanted to inspect it closer but also knew that Sith spawn, cyborg-warriors and mutants were extremely endurable and resilient to damage and death itself. So he hesitated as he moved closer, his other hand unsheathing his dagger as he looked at the mutilated lifeform. The Praetorian came close to the beast, the smell was absolutely unbearable, a mixture of sweetness and unnatural decay. He smelled the Dark side, he thought.

"Sithspawn." He said lowly. "We have to figure out if they are made here or got here from the outside. And then we have to hunt and destroy them." He rose again and looked at the Captain with a firm expression that had concern deeply embedded into it. "I have not seen such monstrosity since the wars against the Maw." Came the admittance.

"We cannot send any more troopers in and we require reinforcements. Even if it just a handful that came from the outside, the threat that a Sith with more is in there, is far too great for us to simply seek and destroy. I am sorry to say, but your men who went in, are lost. And in the worst case, we will have to fight them again." Valerian felt pain delivering that possibility and looked at the Captain.

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
SECTOR 14B, MAHPOREEM

Thorus Valerian Thorus Valerian all but confirmed Ronhar's suspicions about the creature lying before him. Blast! How the hell have this could have happened? One thing immediately came to Ronhar's mind.

Those damned Junkyard Knights!

How else could he explain an entire Sith operation happening right underneath his nose? Though it was possible that a Sith from the Thandon Star Cluster had somehow infiltrated Mahporeem, Ronhar thought that highly unlikely, considering all of the new security and protocols that the Imperial Remnant had implemented in the wake of the Imperial Confederation's breakup. It was far more likely that a Junkyard Knight had instead gone rogue, as the organization would not have been subjected to the same level of scrutiny as other new arrivals to Mahporeem. Ronhar would have to have a serious talk about revising such a decision, even considering the value that the Knights added to the Imperial Remnant.

"Sithspawn. We have to figure out if they are made here or got here from the outside. And then we have to hunt and destroy them. I have not seen such monstrosity since the wars against the Maw.", Thorus remarked upon inspecting the creature on the ground.

"It's like the result of a rogue Junkyard Knight", Ronhar replied as he glanced around, looking for any signs of additional creatures that might try and shamble out of the ever sprawling junkyard in front of the two men. "Chances are they're hiding out somewhere in that mess of junk of scrap. I would imagine the reason this sector wasn't audited in the first place in because of their interference".

"We cannot send any more troopers in and we require reinforcements. Even if it just a handful that came from the outside, the threat that a Sith with more is in there, is far too great for us to simply seek and destroy. I am sorry to say, but your men who went in, are lost. And in the worst case, we will have to fight them again."

Ronhar sighed loudly at Thorus's statement.

"In all honestly, I have half a mind to have my TIE Scorchers burn this entire sector to ash. Would probably solve our little Sithspawn issue here. But you're right: we need to find whoever is responsible for this mess, and I want a confirmed body before we put this thing to bed. I'm going to recall the Night Reaver to see if we can get a better view of the situation. You're welcome to come aboard or take your own transport across the sector. But we do need to move with some urgency before this whole situation spirals out of hand. In the meantime, I'll send for some droids."

After a few minutes wait, Ronhar had managed to assemble a small group of Mahporeenian droids, including a number of VX-2 Utility Droids, ZQ Infantry Support Units and Strider Droids to detect and destroy and Sithspawn that might still be lurking around the sector. The droids slowly began to trickle into the junkyard as Ronhar boarded the Night Reaver with a small contingent of KX-B1 Monster Droids, briefing turning around to see if Thorus had decided to follow him or not.

Valerian somehow was not surprised that the Force sensitive followers of Mahporeem were called "Junkyard Knights". It was fitting even if a bit infantile. Yet there was nothing infantile about the creature that was before their feet and it was an issue indeed that required attention. Immediate attention? Mayhaps. He was the first into the breach when the circumstances demanded it but here he still did not see the urge to act with haste.

Yet the Praetorian was also not here to do nothing.

"I will join you." Before he followed the Captain though, he turned to give instructions to his staff who would remain groundside and continue with his original plan if the locals cooperated. Even if they found nothing, it was better to check if this was orchestrated from somewhere higher than Sector 14B.

Valerian followed Tane into the vessel, checking his blaster he entered and then gently pushing the sword a bit looser in its scabbard. It was some time since he fought a Force sensitive and it would take quite a bit of skill and soldier's luck if it came to it again.

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
SECTOR 14B, MAHPOREEM
[REDACTED]

With Thorus Valerian Thorus Valerian safely aboard Ronhar's ship, the Night Reaver ascended into the air as a steady stream of various droid models began pushing into the scrapyards of Sector 14B. It didn't take Ronhar long to begin finding more of the creatures that had wondered out from the scrapyard in the first place, and soon dozens, if not hundreds, of Technobeasts began engaging in combat with the Mahporeenian droids that had been sent to destroy them. The sounds of blaster fire and explosions echoed throughout the sector, and Ronhar was quite glad that he was flying above all the chaos rather than fighting through the thick of it.

Still, all of their efforts would be for naught if they couldn't find the source of the infestation, the Junkyard Knight who was creating the beasts down below. Should he or she be allowed to live, they would undoubtedly create ever increasing numbers of the monsters, and the last thing Ronhar wanted or needed was a full blown outbreak spreading to the other various sectors of Mahporeem itself. Of course, finding them was easier said than done, and with all the fighting going on down below, Ronhar had yet to have any luck locating the source of the infection.

"Pilot, take us a bit lower. Scanners might have an easier time locating our 'friend" from a lower altitude", Ronhar instructed the pilot of the Night Reaver. The pilot complied, descending toward the ground over a particularly dense patch of garbage, scrap metal and rusting ships. Ronhar could easily make out the details of the various Technobeasts down below: each was distinctly unique, covered in bits and bobs of metal and festooned with all kinds of different melee and ranged weapons. They were performing quite well against the Mahporeenian droids, which Ronhar had pretty much expected.

What he didn't expect was what happened next.

As the Night Reaver continued to hover overhead, bolts of turbolaser fire suddenly began streaking toward the Night Reaver's position, impacting into the side of the ship. The impact was so violent that it caused the entire vessel to shake uncontrollably, with enough force to eject the occupants within it. At the moment of impact, Ronhar suddenly felt himself falling, and within seconds he had been thrown out of the side of his ship! He landed directly in the thick of the fighting, surrounded by Technobeasts and Droids in equal measure, and the abominations suddenly began shambling toward him with murderous intent.

So be it. The aerial search was proving uneventful anyway. Perhaps Ronhar might have more success on the ground? Assuming he lived long enough to continue his search, of course.

Ronhar grinned as he unsheathed Burnblade from his back scabbard, a pair of Strider Droids pulling up on either side of him to try and protect him from the incoming horde of creatures.

"This is where the fun begins!", Ronhar roared as he charged forward to meet the Technobeasts in close quarters combat...
