OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Livien Magnus
  • Classification: Metropolis
  • Location: Ord Radama
  • Affiliation: Independent
  • Demographics: Livien Magnus is home to a wide variety of species, with Devlikks being the dominant species by virtue of Ord Radama being its homeworld, comprising almost two-thirds of the population of the city. Its metropolitan area is home to nearly ten million residents.
  • Wealth: High: with the headquarters of several local mining companies, stone quarrying companies and much of the planet's shipping and industrial infrastructure, it houses corporate and professional staff from those sectors, alongside some major wineries of the planet
  • Stability: High, with the population enjoying a high degree of freedom
  • Description: Built around a mountaineous core, at the bottom of a valley, Livien Magnus stretches on for several kilometers in every direction, with the Rialla Way crossing the entire region from one end to another. It is surrounded by marshland and vineyards at the outer edge of the region, and the lower city is mostly built on reclaimed land, that is, outside of the mountain that marks the city's center, which is called the upper city. Due to Devlikk urban planning, mostly designed for defensive purposes in urban warfare, few thoroughfares exist that cross the city in its entirety and, to non-Devlikks, the city's layout appears to be a gigantic maze. Also, four kilometers from the city core, there is a gated community for the wealthy residents of the area.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Old Fortifications: The Southern Gate and the Western Wall are what remains of the old city fortifications today. In poor repair condition, they can no longer serve as fortifications, but still serve as memorials of the Great Galactic War, especially since the Devastator wreck can no longer serve that purpose.
  • Rialla Way: A major boulevard crossing the Livien Magnus region from one end to another along its north-south axis, its was bombarded in 2 BBY in an attempt to convert a rebel spy. Today it's a street where the major shopping venues of the region are situated, as well as the main corporate offices of the planet.
  • Devastator wreck: A Harrower-class dreadnought that crashed in the city's northeast of the old city core in 3660 BBY, causing over 100,000 casualties at the time, the wreck was finally destroyed in the battle for Ord Radama that took place during the Serenno sector campaign, where the Resurgent Empire's forces retreated to the fastness of the wreck. Bombardment using thermobaric charges finally did the wreck in and today, the location is nothing but a scrapyard filled with torn metal bits.
  • Livien Magnus Palace: Built on the location of the old palace, destroyed in the battle for Ord Radama in the Great Galactic War, today's incarnation of the Livien Magnus Palace houses several government offices, such as the regional garrison headquarters, the planet's supreme court, and, of course, the planetary government meeting place.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
During the Great Galactic War, in 3660 BBY, Livien Magnus served as the capital of Ord Radama, a then-Republican planet. In the first battle for the planet, the Sith Empire attacked Ord Radama and laid siege to the city. The turning point in the siege came when Adraas led an assault on the southern gate using droid forces as a distraction for Venemal to punch a hole in the city's fortifications, which was later exploited by the Sith armies to ultimately allow the city's capture by the Sith Empire. A few weeks later, a Republican relief force attacked the planet, and even managed to shoot down a Harrower, the Devastator, which ultimately plummeted towards the planet and devastated much of the city from the northeast, making its way towards the then-center, and causing over 100,000 casualties in its wake, forcing the Sith Empire to abandon the city and displace the capital to New Raido. Over the centuries to follow, the marshes reclaimed much of the lower city, which hampered any effort to rebuild the city nearby in the centuries to follow, coupled with the short lifespan of the Devlikks.

Only after the implementation of the Ruusan Reformations was any progress made towards the reconstruction of the city, with the Devastator wreck being declared a historical monument by the Devlikk administration of the time, as were the remains of the old city walls. And, in time, the city flourished for a while under Confederate administration, while the planet became one of the sources of minerals of the Confederacy. By the time the Clone Wars happened, the capital was moved back to Livien Magnus, yet the city was spared from the brunt of the destruction that occurred in the battle for the planet since most of the fighting took place in other locations, such as New Raido. That is, until the Galactic Empire conducted a false flag operation by 2 BBY on Imperial administrative buildings along the Rialla Way in an attempt to compel Var Narek to betray the Rebel Alliance. But because the Devlikk population was forced into servitude, the city's residents were quick to resent the Empire and thereafter to rally to the rebel cause.

However, since Ord Radama fell off the galactic radar after the Civil War ended, the Devlikks could develop their own infrastructure without interference from the various factions that fought around them, and Livien Magnus grew into a metropolis of several million inhabitants. By the time the 400-year Darkness ended, the city was on a path to become one of the major winemaking cities in the galaxy, producing a wide array of wines, from the finest luxury wines to the more table wine-based varieties, even though it was still a minor player in the mining industry at best. It was also rebuilding its wealth on the back of the wine and mining industries, also implementing tariffs on all luxury goods, including marble, granite as well as other fine stone.

After the Four-Hundred Year Darkness, the first major faction to actually lay claim to the planet has been the Mandalorian Clans: however, under Mandalorian rule, the planet was more or less left to its own devices politically, until the Mandalorian Clans fell and it stayed there, undisturbed, by both the Dominion and the Resurgent Empire, until the latter attacked nearby Serenno alongside Kushibah, from a staging area later determined to be Tiss'Sharl. The later stages of the battle took place on and around the Devastator's wreck, which was totalled in the wake of the battle.

The only issue I am iffy with in this submission is this part:

Jessica Med-Beq said:
Due to the Devlikks' short lifespans, Gulag Plague immunity was transmitted along in the Devlikk population faster than in most other species, so Livien Magnus could return to its pre-Gulag population and condition much faster than most other cities of that size in the galaxy, rebuilding its wealth on the back of the wine and mining industries, also implementing tariffs on all luxury goods, including marble, granite as well as other fine stone. By the time the 400-year Darkness ended, the city became one of the main winemaking cities in the galaxy, producing a wide array of wines, from the finest luxury wines to the more table wine-based varieties, even though it was still a minor player in the mining industry at best.

While they have shorter lifespans, there is no indication they have an increased rate of reproduction and the Gulag virus hit everyone equally hard during that time period. I'm going to ask for you to remove mention of it from the sub in this way, and once this is done, I will put this as pending.
