Little Boy Blue (PM for invite)

Rawnie Tal'verda

Tal'Verda Aliit'buir
It was a boy.
Rawnie had known this before she even went into labor. She knew it in the months leading up to this. She'd known it the first time she felt the baby squirming inside of her. She'd known it the moment she learned that she would be a mother. She'd known it in her heart. She'd known it in her soul. She'd known it in her very bones.

She had a son. He was finally here.

The birth itself had been less than pleasant. She'd gone into labor while cleaning her rifle. She kept cleaning it for hours after, just to distract herself. For twelve long hours, she did silly household chores that needed to be done. It hurt, but having something to do with her hands helped. Then Lorane arrived with help to cut him out of her, once it became apparent that her tiny body was not built for natural birth.

Now she lay in bed, only hours later, too weak to move, in too much pain to even try. But she had her baby. A healthy baby boy. Her boy. And she was in love with him already.

She smiled, eyes traveling from his surprisingly full head of pale hair, to his perfect little blue nose, to his very alert eyes. He looked so much like his father, and not just because he was blue as well. He had so many of his features. His chin, his lips, his nose, even the tiny birthmarks on his skin. Really, the only thing she could think of that he might have gotten from her was his light hair. And maybe the paleness of his skin tone had something to do with her. Echani blood was strong.

He'd cried for almost twenty minutes after he was born, but not a whole lot since. He seemed so content to just lay there in a warm blanket, pressed against his mothers breast while she alternated between feeding him, sleeping, and just staring. She liked to stare. She swore she noticed something new and different about him every time. And when he did something new, like sneezed for the first time, or got the hiccups, she swore it was the most amazing thing.

Perfection. Her little baby Galaar was absolute perfection.

A soft his have way as the landing gear of the somewhat stolen Silver Sanctum shuttle touched down onto the frozen ground just outside the Tal'verda home on Mandalore. Less than a moment later the ship's pilot hopped out of the cockpit, His tiny feet sinking into the snow barely before the young man took off towards his family home at a full on run.....He'd felt it through the force, Though his focus was not strong enough to know precisely what was happening, Al the boy knew was that his mother was in pain.

What seemed like hours, But was only seconds, Passed as the boy made his way thru the front door of the home.... Buir!! Buir!! He hollered as he frantically searched through the house before finally bursting through the door to his mother's room and finally spotted her.....holding his brother. Instantly calming his voice his smile grew as he approached his mother and in a whispered tone asked..... Buir?..... Is that Galaar?!?!

Lor grinned like an idiot as he walked back into the room. Rawnie and Galaar were both safe and sound, and Ryker was going to get to meet his new little brother in a few minutes. And, to celebrate, there was a big pot of expensive-ish coffee sitting on the stove. He sat on the edge of a bed and slung an arm around his astonished-looking wife with a kiss on the forehead.
"My brave mama Snow Cat... Look at 'im..."
He poked a finger at one of Gal's grabby little baby hands, and chuckled when he felt his son's grip. What a strong little guy. Lor shifted a little bit so he could cuddle Rawnie closer and gave her a squeeze. The baby's eyes opened, and his father got a full view of them. They certainly looked like his mother's, but Lor felt his eyebrow shoot up as the irises suddenly turned red.
"Well, then... You want some coff-"
Lor interrupted himself with a laugh as Ryker came running into the house. Their adopted son was one energetic kid. Galaar's eyes widened as he began reaching for his big brother's face.
"Bleh!"

The new mother winced and hissed as her husband went in to put his arms around her. He had no idea how much this hurt still. The stitches on her lower abdomen were still very fresh. Dried blood still clung to the angry red line. She never imagined that she'd have to have anything other than a natural birth. A real shame. But Rawnie was used to scars. This 'battle scar' as she now called it, was no different.
But it still hurt like hell.

She closed her eyes, giving her little baby boy a gentle kiss on the forehead, then she tilted her head to give her husband a kiss as well. He did half the work in this, after all. She couldn't take all the credit. She just really wished he hadn't been there to see her cry like a baby from the pain. That wasn't like her at all, but then, she'd never hurt this much before.

Rawnie winced at the sound of shouting from the next room. She knew that voice. Ryker. Poor boy had no idea what was going on. Probably confused. Space magic. She'd seen this with Corrin too. Galaar squirmed at the noise, scrunching his little face up. When Ryker burst in, Rawnie held her finger up to her lips.

"Shhh... Ry'ika-" The baby was reaching for him now. She raised an eyebrow, but smiled, "This is your new baby brother. Gal'ika? Say hello to your big brother, Ryker."

She was too weak to sit up and hand him over. Lorane was going to have to do that. She'd already taught Lor the proper way to hold him and everything.

"Ry? Do you want to hold him?"

Nothing matter to him more in this moment, Just the tiny blue baby and that their mother was safe....Nothing else mattered, Not the stolen ship outside, Not the fact that he'd possibly be expelled from the Academy, Not even the fact that Jedi Master [member="Connor Harrison"] was probably on his way to Mandalore now...

His tiny feet slowly carried him over to the side of his mother's bed. The smile he always carried upon his lips even brighter as he leaned forward and sniffed baby Gallaar and raised back up with a happy statement..... " Buir....He looks like Lor....He doesn't smell like him... " He was so small, Ryker thought, But he'd definitely grow into a strong Mandalorian.

Hearing his Mother's words and seeing Ga'lika reaching for him only made his smile grow as his head nodded slowly and almost instinctually before his words actually slipped out..... "Hes so tiny Buir... I don't wanna hurt him."

Lor winced sympathetically when Rawnie hissed at him, and then moved his arm away from where the stitches were. He scooped up little Galaar and held him close to his face so his son could stare back at him... And then was rewarded with tiny fingers up his nose. Ew. Impressive that Gal could reach that far, though. Then he looked at his adopted son and grinned.
"Well, Ryke, just hold your arms out like a basket and you'll be okay."
Gal burbled happily as he was passed into Ryker's arms. The little fingers went searching again, and ended up trying to grab the Togruta's pudgy cheek. Lor chuckled and went back to sit next to Rawnie and gently squeeze her hand. She looked so tired... He was tired, too, but that was only because he'd insisted on keeping up and waiting while his wife tried to distract herself with chores.
So, he very gently and silently shifted so Rawnie could lean on him. If Ryker could sense his little brother being born from Hell only knew how far away, he could definitely sense if Galaar suddenly needed to eat or something.

She was tired. More tired than she'd ever been. But she was happy. Her baby boy was here at last. He was healthy, and she was still alive. It was the most she could hope for.

She leaned on her husband, letting her eyes finally close. But not to sleep. She wanted to be awake, just a little longer.

"Support his head," she instructed, "he's a little... floppy."

Oh yes. She was definitely tired, if floppy was the best word she could come up with.

"Well, Lor," she sighed, "we did it. How's it feel to be a daddy?"

He held his baby brother close and chuckled as Gal playfully grabbed his cheek. They looked very different, But that didn't matter in the least to Ryker, All he saw was his little brother.

"You are so tiny little Galaar....But its OK cause I'm your brother....And and and I have lightsabers and know space magic" His tone soft and kind as he spoke to the tiny blue baby.

Heh. Rawnie was so tired, she could barely speak. Lor very gently cuddled his wife as she began falling asleep.
"Being a dad feels sleepy. Ask me again when we have coffee."
He smiled as he watched Ryker talk to Galaar, who seemed to have suddenly become very focused. The little baby fingers grabbed at everything. They finally settled again when they closed on the little Togruta's nose. Gal's huge red eyes stared at his big brother's, and he shifted a little bit.
Brother? Whazzat?

She was fading fast. She kept waking up every time she tried to sleep, either from pain, or from little Galaar needing something. She was, after all, the only one who could feed him. Her eyes closed. She leaned her head against her husbands shoulder. It would likely be a few days before she could really get up, then her recovery would be a long one still. If she could afford pain medications, that would have certainly helped things...

She knew she wouldn't dream, and she would not sleep for long, but what little rest she could get, she would take. Happily.

His eyes widened just a bit as he swore he heard his brother talk....but babies couldn't talk...could they? He wasnt sure what he'd heard as he held Gal close and carefully climbed into a chair to hold his new brother. "I can't wait till your big enough to learn how to hunt and fix droids......ooooooh ooooh and when you gets your first Blaster....its awesome!"

Lor kept one eye open, just for a moment, and then happily fell asleep next to Rawnie. He felt exhausted.
Galaar's hand opened and closed on Ryker's nose. It was a different color than his mama and papa's. The little baby felt a little frustrated. Why was everybody ignoring him talking at them? He stuck his fingers in his brother's nostril and burbled happily.
Droids? Blaster? Hunt? Fix? You make no sense.

Rawnie had no idea what was going through the head of her newborn. She had no idea that a baby could have any other thoughts beside food, comfort, warmth, sleep. But then again, Rawnie did not remember being small like Gal. She didn't remember any of it. Nobody ever did.

None of it mattered now. Rawnie was asleep at last, at least until Galaar started to cry again, or her stitches started to hurt.

There it was again!!! He knew this time for a fact that somehow his tiny baby brother was speaking to him.....through the force?? He wasn't sure how but he knew it was Galaar talking and without a second more thought the young you cleared his mind, his one thought focussing on pushing his words across to his brother though no words ever left his mouth he spoke out.... "Hello Galaar, I am Ryker, Your brother." words were clearly spoken into the babies mind, Though to anyone watching on it would appear as though the boys were just staring at each other.

Galaar just squinted at the big red shape that was his... 'brother'.
You already said that, Ryker. What's a brother? Are brothers different colors than mamas and papas?
The baby finally tired of Ryker's nose, and began searching for something more interesting to grab. Oh, look! A blue and white stripey thing! It seemed to be attached to Gal's brother, and it felt a lot like grabbing his cheek. He burbled again and started poking at his lekku with all the might a twelve-hour-old baby could muster.
Whazzat? It's cushy.

It was about now that her stitches started to hurt again, pulling the new mother from sleep. She groaned, hand hovering above the incision, still too tender to even touch. The skin around it had a weird feeling to it, like it was in a constant state of being numb. It both hurt, and was endlessly irritating.
Her eyes opened again, glancing to the side at her still sleeping husband. She envied him. And wished he had some pain medication to offer her. She couldn't even roll over. Every time movement was excruciating. She closed her eyes once more.

She wanted her baby again.

Ryker let out a giggle as his baby brother played with his lekkus. His own hand settling gently onto Galaars cheek with a soft loving rub as he once more pushed his words into his brothers mind.... "We are different colors because we are not the same race. Mama and Papa adopted me when I was younger....... And a Brother is someone who will never leave you and will always be there when you need him. I'm your brother and no matter how different we look you'll always be MY brother Galaar"

Galaar mentally shrugged at his brother's explanation. Lots of big words that didn't mean much to a newborn baby. Abstract concepts that didn't involve grabbing things were lost on him.
Okay... What part of that means that I can grab more things?

He chuckled happily at his baby brother, he understood the babies confusion and tried to make him feel better by making a funny face. Though his brother didn't understand what a Brother was yet, Ryker understood what his brother wanted and softly answered the tiny blue baby.... "All of it Brother.....All of it" With that said Ryker lowered his head down to his brother so he could grab whatever he wished.
