Lilla knew little of...

Lilla Syrin

Lilla smiled. Relaxation was not precisely an anathema to her, but it was not something she readily engaged in. If not on a mission, she was teaching. If not teaching she was studying, researching or training. And in between times, she was invariably meditating – gaining knowledge and enhanced serenity in this manner.

“I shall certainly take advantage of the library here – I should very much like to find any reference to less well known meditative techniques. And I’d really like to visit your lab too – I find advancements fascinating, even if I don’t outwardly appear to embrace them.” It was true – she wore traditional robes and did not appear to carry any sophisticated equipment. Even her ship boasted little more than enough technology to get from A to B. It lacked comfort or up-to-date features – merely boasting a decent speed and high-quality shields.

THe jedi master practically beamed at the mention of visiting her lab and she could think of nothing better while looking over at it. "Well there is plenty one can embrace, a jedi doesn't need to have a lot but it is never wrong to make sure your stuff works." She rose up though after a moment and was moving in the room as she opened one of the doors and it led to a biocube. THe environmental effects set up to mimic a forest as water was rushing through the small river below a ridge. Trees overhanging and Matsu lifted a hand to point it out. A cenote wher the water went. "The way to my personal lab for some fun and interesting moments." There were of course other ways in but showing off what they had here, a test of skill and endurance to get there nd swim down using your skills as a jedi.

Lilla nodded her agreement with the Jedi Master. Even the most traditional of Jedi moved on with the times – none sported the old lightsabers, with external power-packs for example. For Lilla, it was about blending the old with the new. She chose not to wear armour for practical reasons – she felt it would make her over-confident. But she’d gladly carry any light contraption that made life easier, such as pocket-sized grappling hooks and line – or datapads that fitted into the palm of the hand. And she was sure her host had developed a plethora of additional items that would make life easier.

She followed Master Ike into the bio cube and raised an eyebrow. She was sure there were alterntive ways to access the lab, but clearly this was the way her host wanted to go, so she smiled and murmured her agreement. “After you,” she said simply.

Looking at her and there was a grin on her face.. the jedi master walking as she slid her robes off. Exposing the tattoo's on her arms, securing her hair back with a small strap and belt a she pulled out a small tube. "There are other ways to get there but well... this is one of the better ways to test yourself and see if there is anything you might want to get for yourself. From simple climbing gear like our grapples and climbing axes." She said it and had the tube as it fired two lines One against the wall that clung to and was taut like steel cable and the other went off into the distance against the rock near some ledges . Matsu pulled a smallshape from her field kit and held it as the telescopic handle appeared with the head snapping out and into place like a climbing axe.

She presented it to Lilla and then held one for herself while looking at the tube and releasing it as the line held as she put the axe handle on top of it and held it securely kicking off and zip lining towards the rock wall swinging herself and leaping at the last moment to catch and dig the axe into the rocks. THen it was all about scaling as the jedi master moved looking back to motion for Lilla to come and join her.

Lilla knew that the present circumstances amused her host in some way. She followed Master Ike’s lead and removed her cloak. Then she took the climbing axe and watched. Lilla’s training prior to becoming a Jedi included a significant amount of climbing and she kept up her training, still able to scale vertical surfaces with the minimum of hand-holds.

She took note of the challenge ahead and, when beckoned, she followed the lead and zipped along the wire before jumping at the last moment and using the axe to secure a hold on the wall. She glanced up and down — ascertaining the best places for hand and foot holds.

Watching her come as the jedi master moved along the cliffs. It was a deceptive climb as the biodome only went down into the water and it was deep enough to survive with safety systems and limiters that could be used for concussive impact from harming them. They worked on things to make it so and Matsu moved along the cliffs with practiced grace. movement speed increasing until she was overhanging and kicked off the rock towards a thick branch and grasped it. Her hands finding holds and branches that were curved while she moved forward on the trees underside to the next set of cliffs going down. The axe digging into the rock and the grapple sending out a spool of line before she was descending towards the lip of the cenote with the waters all around it. Brush of overgrowth when she repelled down to stand there and crouched looking at the waters.

Lilla’s training began with simple climbing walls and finished with an expectation she could scale virtually sheer walls. Virtually was the operative word. Most surfaces were not sheer – at least man-made ones weren’t. Even permacrete offered a purchase but durasteel and variants of toughened glass usually required some additional apparatus.

So, a cliff – whilst a challenge not to be overlooked – was relatively straightforward. Not that Lilla was in any way blasé about the climb, and gave it her full attention. And, given she was a different height to her host, she largely ignored the hand and foot holds Master Ike used – and she was able to match her pace – with a style more practical than graceful. Safe climbing, retaining stamina and keeping out of sight were the watch-words in her training. And the latter could only be compromised if the first two were in jeopardy.

She too kicked off onto the branch and then on to the next set of cliffs. Lilla found the exercise not unenjoyable, but – as ever – she saw it for what it was, a practical means of traversing a cliff, and not a pastime.

And then she was descending on the line – landing softly and silently (despite the heavy Jedi boots) – and followed Master Ike in holding a crouching position.

Matsu looked at her and gave a nod of her head to the skill and she understood how to move and how to pace herself so this would be the main thing. "It is through there... well down and through one level down through the falls." She pointed to indicate where the biocubes environment had water falls all coming into the area and it was almost serene before she moved. "THe lagoon pool opens into my lab as a means to provide cooling where it might be needed and it does make for something to practice breath control with." She was looking at it and moved quickly as she jumped hands going in front of herself and body going like a needle to get into the water as she went down and forward with a surge of the force before she was kicking her feet to move forward.

Lilla nodded and considered removing her boots and a layer or two. In the end, she decided against it. She always trained in Jedi robes – it was how she’d have to conduct a mission after all – and so she was familiar with swimming in soaking wet clothing.

Smiling, she followed the Jedi Master into the water, using the Force to slow her respiration – not knowing when she’d have the chance to draw another breath. And she kept pace with Master Ike, relaxed and fluid, not wishing to expend any more energy or oxygen than she needed to.

The jedi master was in the water and moving as there was small pockets, with light that could immuminate and direct towards air pockets if needed and usually were a manageable distance for people. The jedi master though was holding the air in her lungs as she swam quickly and moved smoothly as in the distance the low lighting of the lagoon was there. Sections for her to come in as she rose up out of the water and stood there when the room was larger. Lights of differing colors at the walls as a few pools were designed for the water with different fish and ocean life. The jedi master shook herself dry a little though when she was walking and the biometrics opened the doors for them. She was looking at a few of the droids who moved around and they had different robes and equipment that were being made witht he skylar.

Lilla quickly noted that there were air pockets dotted along the route – but the Jedi Master passed these by – clearly, they were designed for those unable to hold their breath for any length of time. So Lilla followed Matsu closely, keeping her motion fluid and avoiding expending unnecessary energy.

And before long they’d arrived. Had Lilla not been warned about the journey, she could have needed to use the available air, but she had made it without any pain in her lungs or light-headedness from the lack of oxygen. And once she broke the surface, she saw a beautiful lagoon, with a number of pools that each clearly sustained different marine life.

She splashed onto the ground and shook herself lightly, wondering if there was to be a machine to dry them off before they slopped water all around the Master’s laboratory.

“I get the feeling I’m about to be impressed,” Lilla said – and she genuinely believed that and therefore meant it.

Matsu looked at Lilla and grinned to herself as she was standing there and somewhere to dry off was... well she had partially not thought about it as she stood there and wasn't dripping. The skylar was made to be almost immune to water clinging and being absorbed so it rolled off of it and she was dry. She was moving and opened the door as different displays were there. The jedi master though motioned her forward grabbing a towel for Lilla. "Sorry about that, the material the robes are made or doesn't hold water so it stays dry once out of the water." A smile was on her face though and the sight of the first Padawan Training Outfit were there. sleveless and showing images that could be shifted for it to display the different padawan clans and groupings.

The jedi master continued through as silvery white robes, the Ossus Guardian Robes: were there. With sashes covered in force radiating aurobesh script for the jedi. Jedi Ace Flightsuit that had been designed and were given a Jedi Ace Emergency Unit harness for surviving in space but also being able to go from space and orbit if they jettisoned to land safely on a planet they could be able to with a survival kit. Winter looking Silver Watch Cloaks that went over standard robes but were sleek and fine jakobeast furs. Looking fancy and like something a jedi could wear for displaying status but from her lab there was a group of the tusked beasts that shed fur and droids collected to make fine cloaks. Nothing really harmed or out of the way. Matsu continued forward.

She motioned to show the two outfits, a sleek thin bodysuit that was on display. The Jedi Dancer Outfit was more for acrobats and those of smaller frame to get into tight spaces. There were also ornate jedi Princess Robes that were for royals when visiting fine parties or on worlds where the jedi's status was important to working with the people. It was just like all of the other robes but offered the air of finery. THen there were two more sets a Silver Jedi Robes with black and silver as well as a cape. It was nice while the other had two parts. A Chief Healers Robes and standard Ankarres Healer Robes. There were other designs, ideas for robes to have for sentinels, conselors and all other jedi classes and groups. Equipment and others displays of artifacts or robes.

Matsu had some for herself in her hair but the crystal beads were something that could be around. SMall Sasori Beaded crystals that enhanced different things, or as she brought up one of the walls with different saber components. THey had designed a number of them and synthetic crystals that could augment the sabers. She had a Sasori Telchek healing cube, a Kagami crystal Mirror that displayed as one looked into it areas of the library monolith itself, a Sasori Kojie bag itself that was for dimensional shifting and basically a limitless equipment pack able to rest against the hip. Golden bands with crystals along it that was an augmented jedi gauntlet. The Sasori Tora'yor Henkan-Ki was not something many used outside a few jedi same as the Sasori channeling Glove.

Containers and small displays were force plants were growing with plant surge enhanced minerals as a Force Fertilizer. There was an environmental Sasori Circlet that could be worn and it allowed a force user to survive pretty much in almost any environment. Murr Earrings that had been set up and could be worn by jedi and were simple. Or as something ornate to let a few of the jedi have to feel different. There was also the Jǫrmungandr force hammer that had been created. A few jedi were able to use them as Matsu stood in the center and you could see, she stood in the center of the larger lab and there was a number of other things in the works from more saber components to just about every type of jedi that could be around. Armored robes, evening, uniforms and more.

Lilla appreciated that her own robes were definitely old-school. The ones worn by Master Ike were not necessarily different in appearance, but the fact they repelled water was a boon – and Lilla presumed that they would also repel dirt – and therefore reduce the need for cleaning. She resolved to acquire some of them at the earliest opportunity.

She removed her jacket and boots and took the towel, drying her hair and removing the worst of the water – so that she no longer dripped anywhere. And she was fascinated by the variations of robes on offer – clearly some were entirely functional, but she suspected that most offered more than met the eye – in terms of protection or with a specific purpose in mind. Lilla liked her somewhat vanilla robes – despite the fact they acted like a sponge – but was warming to the idea of changing her approach and embracing some aspects of technology.

Lilla took a great deal of interest in them, listening to their uses and asking questions where appropriate. She smiled at the ornate robes – she had heard of more formal versions and although she had nothing against the wearing of them, she would baulk at the idea of having to wear them, given it would mean she was at some formal function – and Lilla avoided those whenever she could.

Then her attention was drawn to her favourite piece of Jedi equipment – the saber. She showed intent interest in the various components and the variety of synthetic crystals that she understood were designed to augment a saber.

And then the technology got more and more advanced. Healing cubes, bags that could hold infinite equipment – and other items that enhanced things that she’d never heard of. It was almost overwhelming for one visit.

Then they were looking at flora – and she was interested to hear that some plants were Force imbued and the Force was even used to speed up growth. And then there were accessories that allowed a Jedi to survive in hostile environments.

“Wow,” said Lilla finally. “I wasn’t wrong – there are genuinely so many wonderful things here to help the Jedi cause. Tell me, what’s your favourite?”

Matsu looked at her and had a grin on her face while they were going forward. She stopped though to think about it and spoke as she held a hand up seeing it. "Well my favorite is." She moved her hand and a small display opened with her biometrics as a crystal was on display. Shifting colors depending on the light as it went through it and radiating the force itself when she touched it and held it there in her hand for a moment. Using the aurodium chain to have it around her neck. "The heart of the universe, it is connected to the living and cosmic force letting me feel everything. The power within it is virtually limitless and it only gets stronger as more life springs into the force connecting it all."

Lilla wasn’t just impressed with the things on display – the technology of the site was equally impressive. When you were used to a Temple that was effectively a converted crashed ship, many of the facilities were rudimentary. The use of biometrics to open and unlock things for example was a wonderful convenience as far as Lilla was concerned.

Lilla’s eyes widened as Master Ike explained what the crystal could do. It was both a wonderous thing but, she imagined, also a potential burden.

“Given the power of the crystal, has there ever been a time when you were tempted to use it?”

"Oh I have used it, there was a time when I was young and fairly naive. I thought I could use it to fix all fo the wrongs but... that was pride and recklessness speaking. This was a gift from the force and with it there is a need for understanding." She said it and was looking at her it was something to admit it to herself that she wasn't the smartest or wisest when it came ot things but to another was something else and well compared to most she presented herself as the wisest of the jedi... not with boasting it but just in general with things such as all of ths. It could take a lot to hold power and not choose to wield it to change things but she knew the dangerous slope that it would be.

It was odd but strangely reassuring for a senior Jedi Master to talk of being naïve – reckless even. Odd because it seemed so out of character for the woman she was speaking to and reassuring because sometimes you thought you were the only one that active in an immature way. Wishing to right every wrong and solve every puzzle yourself – and seeing it as some catastrophic failure if you weren’t able to.

And, above all, she saw that Master Ike showed humility in sharing this information and strength of character in not repeating the mistakes of her past.

Lilla nodded her understanding and approval. “Oh, to have the insight of our experience when we needed it most – in our youth. Not that I’m wishing my years away, I’m still relatively young, I appreciate that – and can only plan to develop my wisdom as time continues.”

"Based on how you are now you will but don't be so quick for it. One of the best things to learn is that it is okay to fail, to falter, to not succeed so you can teach yourself and pass on what you learn to others." She said it while the jedi master was moving. She had more to look at and there was some combat robes, designed less ornate but with force enhanced metal on them, some accessories and Matsu came to a mirror as she looked into it and could see around the library itself. She brought up the biodomes around them. The jedi master could see a great deal more as she sat down in one of the seats and she was looking at Lilla. "THough tell me, what would you want in the field, lets see if there is anything that we might be able to make."

Sabine nodded sagely. She was young and yet had a lifetime of experience. Not in the way Younglings grew - her learning had come from the proverbial school of hard knocks. Life as a slave, running away. Living life as a vagrant. Being a slave once more before being trained in the art of spying and assassination before running away for a second time. All before she was barely into her teens. And then she fended for herself for a while before finding the Jedi. And that doesn't even begin to cover the fact she knew nothing of her parents, or even her planet of birth.

But that was what made her what she was today. As for the future? That was almost harder to manage. "What do I need?" she pondered, answering a different question to the one posed. What she 'wanted' was largely irrelevant to her. It was need that drove her thought process now. "I'm not sure I want for anything? I mean, a pouch that could hold significantly more than it appeared would be a useful thing. A means of drinking when there is no visible source of water? Something to combat extreme temperatures? And robes that repel water would be very useful too."

Matsu looked at her and she had a grin on her face as she thought about it. "All of those we have, a hydration system that can produce water, we have a canteen for personal use and ration packs with enough food to feed a squad of twelve for a month with each pack. Our disruption technology makes it so we can shrink and compact entire meals." She was going over the things, getting the kojie pack with its space, the cracken field kit with the circlet and several other things such as a hand axe and two databases, one for people and languages, another for artifacts. They had some others. "We hav e also developed with one of out medical groups, micro droids capable of giving you a universal translator. over seven billion forms of communications."
