Dark Temptress
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Resurrected Ghosts
- The ring bears a grim and imperfect power born of a miscalculation in the Sith spell Tsaiwinokka Hoyakut, which was meant to reanimate the recently dead but instead tears their spirits free, raising ghosts rather than bodies to serve as weapons against the living. To invoke the spell, the ring must be deliberately pointed at a freshly created cadaver while a single, tightly guarded spell word, known only to her, is spoken, tearing the soul loose in a shriek of cold Force energy. The ring can sustain no more than two ghosts at any one time, their existence unstable and fleeting, bound to a strict lifespan of three minutes before they unravel back into nothingness. During that brief window, the specters are horrifyingly effective, capable of inflicting both physical harm through chilling, reality-bruising contact and mental damage by assaulting the minds of their victims with terror, memory fragments, and soul-scouring anguish, making the ring less a tool of control and more a short-lived, devastating release of the dead's final fury. The Spell must recharge after the second use.
- Cursed
- The ring is bound by an unforgiving cursed enchantment that recognizes only her presence, rejecting all others with merciless precision; the moment an unauthorized hand touches it, the spell erupts and births a Force Wraith formed from raw malice and stolen shadow. This wraith immediately attacks the would-be usurper, striking at both body and spirit, and should it be diminished or destroyed, another manifests instantly so long as contact with the ring is maintained. There is no exhaustion to this curse, no limit to its repetition; the spell is infinite, an unending cycle of conjured hatred that makes possession impossible and ensures the ring remains eternally loyal, not through trust, but through relentless, self-renewing violence.
- The Almost Lazarus Effect
- The ring carries an especially hateful enchantment that, when invoked, rips two furious ghosts from the veil, spirits so enraged by their deaths that they harbor an instinctive, burning hatred for all living things. These specters manifest snarling and distorted, driven less by command than by pure wrath, immediately lashing out at the nearest signs of life, with savage intent. Their presence chills the air and warps the Force around them, their attacks fueled by resentment and agony rather than strategy, making them unpredictable and brutally aggressive as they vent their rage upon the living until their brief existence collapses back into nothingness.
- Suppression, Nullification, & Friends
- Despite its formidable enchantments, the ring is not invulnerable, and its magic can be nullified or suppressed by specific countermeasures designed to choke the flow of power through it. Certain technological devices: such as localized dampening fields, alchemical disruptors, or focused energy inhibitors, can interfere with the spell matrix, causing the enchantments to stutter or fall dormant while the device remains active. Likewise, advanced Force-based abilities can smother the necklace's power, whether through precise suppression techniques, overwhelming null-field manifestations, or disciplined Force focus that severs the bearer's attunement to the artifact, rendering its teleportation and curses inert until the opposing influence is withdrawn.
The ring was created in a moment of deliberate irreverence, when Lady Izanami chose gold as its foundation not for purity, but for its memory; metal that remembers heat, pressure, and touch, making it an ideal anchor for lingering spirits. Into its setting she placed an eyeball taken from a deceased sentient buried in a forgotten, no-one-cares graveyard, a place where names rot faster than bodies and the dead are long past being mourned. The eye was preserved through Sith alchemy and bound into the ring as both focus and witness, forever forced to see again, its final perspective locked into the spellwork that followed.
Through a flawed yet potent Sith incantation, she bound the ring to the ability to raise at least two ghosts from the recently dead, not their bodies; but their enraged spirits, torn free and weaponized against the living. These ghosts manifest filled with hatred, short-lived but violently effective, existing only long enough to spill their fury before unraveling. Layered atop this was a relentless curse; any hand but hers that touches the ring summons an endless succession of Force Wraiths, ensuring the artifact can never be claimed, studied, or wielded by another without immediate and escalating consequence.
Of all her creations, this ring is her favorite, not for its elegance or power alone, but for the private satisfaction it brings her. She exactly knows who the eye once belonged to, remembers the sound of their voice, the shape of their fear, and the moment it left them, and that knowledge pleases her in a quiet, intimate way. The ring is more than jewelry; it is a keepsake, a mockery of death and remembrance alike, worn close as a reminder that even the forgotten can still serve her: and that nothing truly escapes her grasp.
