Special Features:
The solid whip strands are able to be retracted into the gauntlet like fiber cord
Strengths:
Flexibile and unpredictable attack pattern
Long reach, enabling someone wielding these to attack from a further distance than normal
Energy and solid strands allow a two prong attack that can confuse and disorient opponents, especially if they have training that only focuses on countering one of these at a time
Weaknesses:
Not as forceful as a normal lightsaber, needs momentum to actually do a lot of damage
Jar'kai fighters can counter the dual nature of the weapon easily
Energy strands can be shorted out for a time if met with enough force from an attack
Description:
Commissioned by Darth Praelior, Darth Arcanix was slightly surprised to receive the order to create a new weapon for the Voice of Sector V and her select chosen servants. Given a brief outline of what her master wanted, Taeli went to work on designing the new weapon immediately, while trying to figure out how to make her master's vision a reality.
The final idea that Taeli developed was of a set of gauntlets based upon the armor gauntlets that many bounty hunters and Mandalorians used made of durasteel. Above the hand, where a retractable vibroblade would be held usually, is the inner components of a lightsaber designed to create a lightwhip energy stream. On either side of the gauntlets are launchers that contain two meter long flexsteel solid whip strands to augment the ability of the lightwhip and to give more versatility to the weapon and that can be retracted back into the gauntlet at any given time.
The new weapon system can only be used by those that have excessive training in whip-like weapons to avoid any potential injuries and carry the same strengths, (such as high versatility, long reach, the ability to bend around an opponent's blade and unpredictability) and weaknesses as most whip weapons, (such as lesser attacking power, defensive forms are almost impossible for parrying or against opponents utilizing great speed or power, and needing momentum to do any lasting damage). The gauntlets are also made of durasteel, and the added components necessarily made the gauntlets heavier, clocking in a nine kilograms.
Another limitation of the weapon system is that the energy strand can be shorted out if met with enough force, and a person proficient in the Jar'kai dual lightsaber technique can easily fight their way through the whip attacks as they ensnare the energy strand on one blade while eviscerating the solid strands with the other saber.
Note: Anyone who wishes to use this weapon does need a ten post thread of training with the weapon, otherwise good luck with taking your own limbs off when trying to use it in a fight
