- Shield: The hilt of the Lightsaber can emit a small, round circular shield around the hands of the user, helping to deflect any disarming or weapon directed attacks.
- Balanced: The Lightsaber hilt of the weapon is perfectly balanced on either end, with fitted grips into either side allowing it to be used as a saberstaff, or a heavy single saber.
- Unstable: The Lightsaber crystals used in the creation of the weapon are ancient, and unstable. When ignited, they emit fluctuating and unstable blades, which can emit small bursts of energy in any direction, even at the user.
Valad Yar built his Lightsaber in the image of Exar Kun's, modeling it after it, though he had updated and improved the design. It is powered by two ancient Lightsaber crystals once used by Exar Kun himself centuries ago. He has also put in a small shield emitter in the hilt of the Lightsaber, which when activated created a small shield around the hands of the user, protecting them and the hilt of the weapon from direct enemy attacks.
