Private Life on canvas

Iandre nodded with an approving smile.

"I believe it." She looked him over for a moment before continuing. "You strike me as someone with a steady hand. I'm a fairly good shot myself," she admitted. "Though I've never worked with sniper rifles. Most of my experience has been with a blaster pistol. The Jedi I served alongside always seemed to prefer getting much closer than a sniper ever would."

A quiet laugh escaped her at his reassurance.

"I'm glad to hear that." She smiled warmly. "Knowing your limits is one of the hardest lessons for any warrior to learn. It takes courage to charge into danger, but it often takes even more wisdom to know when not to."

A small grin crossed her face.

"Perhaps that's why we kept needing people like you."

Iandre chuckled softly, shaking her head.

"I'm glad to hear that isn't how you roll."[/color] Her smile remained easy. "Being a Jedi and a Mandalorian doesn't mean you have to become a stereotype of either."

She considered his words for a moment before asking,

"What's your first reaction when you're confronted with danger?" She tilted her head thoughtfully. "For me...it depends entirely on what or who I'm facing. That usually decides whether I reach for a lightsaber, a blaster, or neither at all."

Iandre nodded with quiet approval.

"So much as I do." A small smile crossed her face. "The first few moments of any situation are often the most important. If we rush to act before we understand what's happening, we can end up making things worse."

She folded her hands loosely in her lap.

"Not every problem needs to be solved with a weapon." She smiled warmly. "But when every other option has been exhausted...then we do what we must, and we try to end the conflict as quickly and compassionately as we can."

Her expression softened with a hint of satisfaction.

"I think your approach will serve you well, Nolan."

A warm laugh escaped Iandre, and she shook her head with an amused smile.

"Nolan..." she said gently. "Did you forget I'm from that time?"

A look of fond remembrance settled across her face.

"I knew Obi-Wan Kenobi." Her smile softened. "Not well enough to call him a close friend, but well enough to know his reputation was earned. He had a remarkable gift for ending a fight before it truly began."

She nodded thoughtfully.

"There are worse Jedi to model yourself after than the Negotiator."

Iandre considered the question for a moment before answering.

"Well...you've already met one." A wry smile crossed her face. "Pong Krell certainly isn't someone I'd recommend modeling yourself after."

She grew a little more thoughtful.

"Count Dooku was once one of the Order's finest Jedi before he chose another path. There was Xanatos, who betrayed his Master, and Sora Bulq, who abandoned the ideals he once defended." She gave a small shrug. "History remembers talented Jedi. It doesn't always remember good ones."

Her eyes met Nolan's.

"That's why I think it's wiser to admire someone's character before their skill." A gentle smile returned. "Obi-Wan wasn't great because he was unbeatable. He was great because, even in war, he never stopped trying to find peace first."

“And don’t forget Anakin he became the second most feared person in the galaxy next to Darth sidious but ani eventually saw the light once again shame I wasn’t there to see him come back and an even greater shame that I wasn’t there in his final moments”

Iandre's expression softened at the mention of Anakin Skywalker. She drew in a slow breath before speaking.

"No..." she said quietly. "I won't forget him."

She was silent for a moment, choosing her words carefully.

"When Anakin was a Jedi, he wasn't a bad one." Her voice carried conviction. "He was courageous, fiercely loyal to those he cared about, and he would risk everything to save another person. Those were real qualities, even if they were later overshadowed by tragedy."

A faint sadness settled behind her smile.

"The man who became Darth Vader doesn't erase the Jedi Knight who came before him." She looked thoughtfully into the distance. "If he truly found his way back to the light in the end...then perhaps that was the man he had been all along, buried beneath years of fear and regret."

She looked back to Nolan.

"I think there's hope in that." Her smile returned. "If someone as lost as Anakin Skywalker could find his way home again, then none of us are ever beyond redemption."

Iandre nodded gently, her smile carrying both agreement and understanding.

"I do too." she said quietly. "I don't believe anyone is beyond redemption if they're truly willing to find their way back."

She noticed the tear, but didn't call attention to it. Some emotions deserved the dignity of simply being acknowledged rather than examined.

"I was fortunate." She glanced down thoughtfully before looking back at him. "When I arrived in this era, I found an Order that was willing to work with me and my beliefs. They gave me the time and space to adjust instead of expecting me to become someone else overnight."

A small smile returned.

"How are you adjusting?" she asked gently. "I mean...you only learned not long ago that the Order we knew is gone, and that we're more than nine hundred years beyond our own time." She tilted her head sympathetically. "That's a difficult truth for anyone to carry."

Nolan signed “I’m doing alright considering like you said I’m 900 years in the future and I’m just now adapting to a galaxy without war but I’m enjoying not having the threat of said war looming over me”

Iandre's smile became a touch more wistful, and she gave a small shake of her head.

"I wish I could tell you the galaxy had left war behind." she said gently. "But there always seems to be another conflict somewhere."

She looked out across the park, watching the children play for a moment.

"Even in this era, I've seen my share of wars." Her voice remained calm. "The names change. The governments change. The reasons change. But people still need someone willing to protect them."

A small smile returned as she looked back at Nolan.

"The difference is that, now, we have the freedom to choose when and how we serve." She nodded thoughtfully. "And in between those moments..." She glanced toward her unfinished painting. "...we get to enjoy mornings like this."

Iandre let out a quiet laugh at the thought before her smile softened into something more reflective.

"My friend..." she said gently, "I think I'm done with wars."

Her eyes drifted toward the children playing in the park, their laughter carrying on the breeze.

"If one comes, and innocent people need protecting, I'll do what I must." She nodded once. "I always will."

Looking back at Nolan, her smile returned.

"But these days, I'd rather spend my time preventing wars than fighting them." She chuckled softly. "And if we ever do find ourselves on the same battlefield...let's both hope it's because we failed to find a peaceful solution first."
