As a scientist, she served as the com-scan officer aboard star cruisers projected the power of Emperor Akio Kahoshi's Galactic Empire as far as Chiss space and the Unknown Regions, where she would develop a lot of the initial research into astrophysics -- which she would later use as the foundational data of her graduate work in that field.
By the time of the One Sith occupation of Atrisia, Lien had left the uniformed service in order to pursue higher education at the University of Coruscant. A published researcher at the time of Atrisia's "liberation" by the Galactic Alliance, Lien was a doctoral candidate at the University of Alderaan. Returning to Atrisia with reconstruction and aid crews sponsored by Alderaan Engineering, Lien worked to restore weather patterns across the planet. When the Galactic Alliance collapsed in 851 ABY, Lien was commissioned as a commander and placed in charge of the sciences division of the Atrisian Naval Corps.
A year later, she served as the executive officer of the first major starcruiser to fly under the flag of the Atrisian Commonwealth. The following year, she was promoted to the rank of captain and placed in command of the Dragon's Fang. Her selection to the post, a scientist in command of a star destroyer, was quite deliberate and in keeping with the yin and yang principles of the Atrisians. At her disposal are some of the most powerful weapon systems that Atrisian Commonwealth has to bear.
And the Atrisian Parliament knows that Lien will think twice before she uses them. The years have seen Atrrisia become stronger and she has worked with fellow fleet Admiral Mitthm"ar"anuruodo Khan a Chiss liaison at first who stayed from Alliances Akio made. Then Csilla was destroyed and the chiss without a home as Atrisia IX was terraformed to house them. She was in charge of all the admiral and coordinated them but Admiral Mitthm"ar"anuruodo Khan served well to coordinate as her second in commaand after the deaths of their husbands in the war against the One Sith.
The two grew closer in their twilight years it was seen and were resolved to go out strong when the princess and prince managed to push the Commonwealth into a state of post-scarcity. The military became much stronger, with all citizens serving in the army or navy giving them a massive standing military force. THey got new ships, new weapons, new armors and their technologies exponentially jumped in quality. The twelfth battle of Atrisia saw the Death Star III routed and repelled enough as Atrisia and a dozen otherr naval forces worked.
