Let's Pretend You Don't Exist

Jedi Temple - Ossus

A very short time after the Second Battle of Manaan...

Aaralyn was in a bit of a panic, maybe not so much of a panic and a rush so to speak.

She was hacking away at a terminal in the office of the Grandmaster in the attempt to download all the files of [member="Kiskla Grayson"] and securely remove any access of retrieving them remotely. Of course, Kiskla had ensured of such measures as it were and all Aaralyn had to do was purge them – but those weren’t her instructions.

She was to memorize them, and ensure the safety of all the knowledge that Kiskla had was available to the Council going forward. An annoying task to be quite honest. Why would Kiskla have allowed herself to be captured in the first place?

She was better than that, wasn’t she? Aaralyn had hoped that during the process of their time together that the woman she had considered a close friend and sister had learned something from her, and that was – never get caught. Aaralyn rubbed her chin in though as the screen scrolled different objects, locations and protocols by. There had to be a reason for it, hadn’t there?

Hmm, one could only wonder. Aaralyn would look down at the datapad before her and the various notes that were left by Grandmaster Grayson for Aaralyn to find. Had she foreseen the inevitable demise of her being in the hands of the One Sith? Perhaps but the future was constantly moving so there was no way that Kiskla could have been certain her path would have been as it was on Manaan.

It didn’t matter, the task was done and Kiskla was gone. She had her doubts that she was dead but she could no longer feel her presence in the Force – so there was no real way to know. She had heard rumors of an individual with the Force being killed and their lifeforce sucked away into weaponry that ensures no passage would occur to the Netherworld or even Chaos for that matter.

Would the One Sith do that? No, they would try to exploit her for information. Why the hell not? She was the Grandmaster of the Order they wished to destroy. They might even clone her and send the clone back to destroy them from within. Aaralyn chuckled softly and looked to the datapad again. Some of the names were interesting for Kiskla to have decided upon appointing to the Council. She understood why though.

He was an excellent leader and a being who know his stuff. He had done well with the Jedi Shadows and apparently Kiskla trusted him to run things on the Council of First Knowledge and Reassignment. Apparently, much like a lot of people on the list, he would be pulling part duty on one and part duty on another. He would lead the Jedi Shadows and also be in charge of overall safety and security.

Good old bookworm Phylis, she knew her stuff when it came to the archives and had a sound judgement. She was there when the Republic and Jedi Order needed her most and right now – they needed her most. Aaralyn looked at her duty and it emphasized Archives and Chief Librarian on the Council of First Knowledge and Reconciliation.

Now this one did surprise her, amongst two other names on the list. She didn’t expect her former Padawan to be appointed to a Jedi Council in such a short time – however – the kid deserved it. She worked her tail off in such a way that it made Aaralyn felt proud to be her Master. Council of First Knowledge and Reconciliation were the Councils that Corvus had made it to, and it reflected upon her personality and her skills as a leader amongst the Jedi.

A Jedi Knight she was familiar with and one she had been told to approach about helping out on the Council. He would be interesting to speak to, as she hadn’t spoken to him in what seemed like an eternity. Knight Korr was to assist with the Council of Reassignment, most likely run the Service Corps program and work with Master Karr on the Security aspects of the Order itself. She hoped their first meeting in a while wouldn’t be…too tense.

Aaralyn Rekali

She flinched slightly at the mention of her own name on the datapad before her. She always told Kiskla she wouldn’t want a seat on the Council and even so there was a very bold lettered statement insisting she take the seat upon the Council. She as to be assigned to the Council of First Knowledge and Reassignment. She was to oversee the Security of the Archives and the artifacts belonging to the Jedi Order – which is why she was here. She was also to help with the reassignment of wayward Knights and Padawans, as she had once lost her way.

Aaralyn heaved a sigh and placed the datapad down before her as she looked to the screen, it was almost finished purging everything about the Grandmaster and her files from the system – to include remote access capabilities. It was a sad fact really, but it was the dangers of the job. Aaralyn felt a ping in her heart as she looked at the terminal as it terminated the session at 100% and ejected a holodisc.

She grabbed the disc in one hand and looked about the quiet room of [member="Kiskla Grayson"] and shook her head. “I almost wish she had died…” She said as she tucked away the disc into the fold of her jacket and stood up, grabbing the datapad that contained information on the Council. It wasn’t secret information – nor was it anything complete. It was bare notes that were sent to Aaralyn a few days prior, with a small holo message. Something told her, Kiskla knew this was going to happen. For such a young Master, the woman was powerful, and that damned psychometry worked in mysterious ways. Before she left, she would access Kiskla's private vault and within would be the Holocron of the Jedi Master Yoda - the same holocron that Aaralyn once gifted to her. Aaralyn sighed heavily as she looked at the holocron and then to the door, explaining everything would be interesting needless to say.

For now, the job was done….time to contact the Masters of the Council and [member="Jorus Merrill"] for advice. This wasn't an easy path for her to take.

Master Rekali would quickly discover that the callback codes -- the actual locations of the major Jedi and Sith holocrons, remotely accessible through the order's Library Cards but only to a limited extent -- had vanished with Kiskla and with the last Master of First Knowledge, Jorus Merrill. Even if she found Kiskla's codes, they'd turn out to have been recently invalidated due to Kiskla's capture. Fortunately, Aaralyn had met Jorus recently, and calling him at some point would give the Order a little more certainty about, and control over, its greatest treasures. The codes wouldn't even work without the actual physical ansible connections to the distant holocron-keepers, but Jorus could make new ones available to her now that he was done making sure the major holocrons were all secure.
