I actually had the usual soapbox speech written here but really I'm just gonna say this person elegantly explained it all for me, so I just wanted to bring attention to it.

Awareness, discussion and transparency precede rules.

We try not to make habits of shotgunning new rules onto the scene without having had an Entmoot's worth of discussion on the topic.

I'd prefer people just read OP's post and enlighten their own awareness without the subtext of "I have this person to blame for losing my GIFs." Nobody's taking your GIFs away, random reader. Just go read.
