Private Let the Bad Times Roll

Once again, the teen found herself feeling down and depressed. Even though Nitya had mostly followed in the steps of her mother, she had still been close to her father. He had died not too long ago and the loss was still felt strongly by his daughter. With her youngest sister having moved away and her mother dealing with being a Master in the Order, she was left alone much of the time. Just when she needed somebody to be there...there was nobody. So she turned to another kind of friend that was always present.

Luckily, she was now a familiar face at the local cantina at the Rest and the bartenders there took care of her. Besides, she always paid for her drink, never left a tab, or ran delinquent in her payments. They did not question the choices of the young woman and gave her what she asked for.

Now sitting in the corner, she stared down at the glass and hoped it would bring her some sort of solace. Uknown to her, these people were actually trying to help her from going down the dark path she had started and had alerted a newly arrived Master of what was going on. Providing this woman with what information they had, they hoped to have her show up sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Nitya started in on her first drink of this visit and didn't seem to have a care in the world.

After getting settled in at the Silver Rest, Valery was eager to resume her duties as a Jedi. From a certain point of view, it had technically been millennia since she served as a Jedi, but now she was ready again. Back in the old days, she was the Grandmaster of a smaller Enclave and within that position, it was common to be involved in offering guidance to other Jedi.

So when she heard about the struggling young Padawan, she felt strongly about offering her help. Padawans were the future of the Jedi after all.

Stepping into the Cantina, Valery first approached the bartenders. A brief conversation later, and her eyes would turn to the girl in the corner, who at first glance seemed perfectly content. But there was an underlying sadness and struggle to her that a strong Empathic person such as Valery could pick up on a little. Especially since she was told more about what the girl was struggling with.

"Hey there,"
Valery said with a warm smile as she stepped up to the girl's table.

"You're Padawan Nitya Xeraic, right? I'm Master Valery Noble - would you mind if I joined you here?"

Picking up her glass to take a drink, she was caught by surprise when somebody approached her and asked if she could sit down. Choking back some sort of biting retort, she decided to do what her mother would have and go with the flow. Not offering a smile in return, the teen nodded and motioned to the spot across from her.

"Of course, you found the right person. What can I do for you, Master Noble?"

Almost standing up, but not quite, she was tense and would stand if it were needed. In her motion, she turned to look at the bartenders and requested silently another drink for her guest.

"Are you new? I've never noticed you around before."

Maybe Valery was one of the wandering Masters and the reason why Nitya hadn't met her before was that she had always been out on missions. What was this woman wanting with her?

The question floated around in her mind and she had already asked what she could do for her. Hopefully, it would be answered before the drink really got a strong hold on the girl.

Valery dipped her head lightly and lowered herself into the seat, her eyes still fixed on the girl, "I'm quite new, in a way. It's complicated." she said with a chuckle. "But I should become a regular here, after some time." she continued as she eyed the bartender for a moment, who was preparing some drinks.
Her gaze then shifted back to Nitya, and she'd offer another brief smile.
"But I was mostly wondering why you were sitting here all alone? From what I've noticed and heard, you've been keeping to yourself a lot. So I wanted to make sure you're doing well, and maybe give you some company." Valery said with a sincerely warm tone of voice.
As much as she had heard about the darker path the girl was starting, she wanted to open the conversation without going into it too heavily. She was, after all, only a stranger to this young woman right now. If Nitya was able and willing to open up more, she could ask deeper questions.

Since she had not totally stood up, the teen sat back down when Valory accepted the invitation.

"It sounds like you either came from another Jedi order or were one of the traveling kinds of Jedi. Which is it?"

Personal questions were being asked already...or they felt that way to Nitya. What business was it of this Master anyway? The girl was silent after speaking and wondering these thoughts to herself. While Valory looked back at the bar, Nitya did too. Maybe not at the exact same moment but close.

"I'm usually here alone. Nobody around wants to talk to a half-blind daughter of a couple of Jedi Masters of great renown."

Lifting up her glass, she took a sip and set it back on the table to seemingly stare into its depths. Not at all even really glancing at Valory. Letting out a sigh, she finally looked across the table at the unexpected...yet welcome guest.

"Company is always nice, Master Noble. Thank you."

In those few words, there was more truth than even Nitya cared to admit. After the death of her father, her life had changed. Then when Jairdain had become part of the Council, it had changed even more. Her younger sister had left the Silvers and joined the Confederacy. She had thought they would be forever companions but even now she felt abandoned and more alone than ever.
