Lessons of the Sith

Taeli begrudgingly woke up, but she knew she needed to. Swinging her feet out from the bed, she looked around the room her master, Darth Praelior, had given her upon their arrival on Coruscant. She somewhat regretted staying up late reading, but she had become intrigued by the story of a Sith from the past called Darth Zannah and hadn't been able to stop reading until she fell asleep mid-paragraph. Now, her first official day of training as a Sith would begin and she was exceedingly curious what her master had planned for her. The Zeltron Sith had mentioned something called the Black Forge, piquing her curiosity, but she was even more intrigued by what exactly she would be learning.

Getting off her bed, she went to the refresher, washed herself, and proceeded to get dressed in a tight black tunic and pants in case her master decided more combat practice was the order of the day.

Elara watched as her master stood there ready to begin... this was a new day and Taeli was needing to catch up to her in terms of skills. The apprentice stood off to the side of the room in her full oracle armor with a sword across her back and sabers on the belt. Her master was getting ready and had a new lessons plan or at least was going to show why the One Sith were so much stronger. They dind't just destroy planet after planet they adopted the people and made them want to join. On the surface it was good below was the camps and places you sent those who would not follow to be dealt with. She heard her master speak while watching. "Come Taeli."

Taeli heard her master's summons, and quickly belted on the training saber from her terentatek fight and the beskade she had brought from Lorrd. Leaving her room, the same guide she had yesterday led her through the halls of the palace to where her master and Elara were waiting. More people were in the halls and she could hear whispers about how an invasion to Carida had failed and that made her pause. If the Sith were so powerful, how could they fail in taking a world. Deciding it wasn't her place to say anything yet, she entered the room where her master and her rival apprentice were.

Elara watched her master, with Taeli here now standing before them it wasn't much. Sure rivalry maybe they would fight but Elara had the advantage over the apprentice. She had been training with her master for a long time and been benefiting from her teachings. Equipment tailored and fitted to her use while she popped her knuckled and Balaya spoke looking down at her apprentice. "I hope you have rested well, from now on aside from a few breaks there is no safety or time for enjoyment. The One Sith is order and structure, you are a part of it and everything you do reflects upon me as a voice of the dark lord. Everything you learn will add to your power going forwards. The first challenge will be going into the pits and finding an object of worth. Something that calls to you and will become your concentration talisman." Elara gave a nod of her head, she had gotten her tattoo's and some implants made for her hip joints where she had been hurt. The metal alchemically enhanced to protect her.

"Just point the way to the pits, Master," Taeli replied, taking in Elara's armor and weapons. It only increased her jealousy of the other apprentice, but she would nurture that jealousy until she would need to draw upon the anger it spawned. Her master's warning of that her life would no longer be one of peace and tranquility, but one of constant strife and struggle for power and knowledge worked just fine for her.

"Is there anything lurking within the pits that we should be aware of, master?" she asked.

Elara continued to watch and she held a grin while Balaya spoke. "There are several dangers down there, the Roanoke prison is deep below and filled with... problem cases their bodies when finished are used to feed the sithspawn we have brought, there is the sleeping Massassi who patrol and roving swoop gangs we have working to monitor the area. anyone who goes down there they have been ordered to kill including each other. For credits or weapons." Elara saw the smile there and she pointed her hand over to one of the heads on the wall from a leviathan. Her prize as Balaya took a seat. "You may take one weapon and this." Elara looked at a bird flew in, bony and black with golden eyes while a familiar of her masters moved towards her. "A familiar will allow you to feel the darkside and I shall focus your power from here."

Reaching with the dark side, even in the limited way she could currently when she was enraged, she summoned the familiar over to her. As the bird-like creature's talons closed around her shoulder, biting into it slightly, she could feel the power of the dark side swirling within it. She also could pick up on her master's presence within the familiar.

"I'll take the beskade I currently have, Master," Taeli replied, knowing there wasn't much that could stand up against Mandalorian Iron, and tossing aside the training saber to the feet of her master.

Turning on her heel, she left her master's presence and her rival. It was a bit dramatic, but she felt it was called for in this case given Elara being in full regalia and she needed to even out their standing a small bit.

'Now I'm curious what I'll encounter in the Undercity, or the Pits, or whatever they are called currently,,' she thought.

Elara watched on and as her master was amused she found it curious how she was acting and letting her go Elara walked over to her masters side. The twelve year old running a hand over her head. "Are you certain my master she is a good choice?" The look from Balaya had her standing still and at the ready while she gave a nod of her head to that. "Yes my apprentice, she is strong and useful. A mandalorian trained sith is not a common prize, they are exotic and in the pits as you know we have brought leviathans, rancors and many other sithspawn to deal with the problems, the swoop gangs and soldier. All serve a purpose in forging our people into the strongest sith within the One Sith. She will adapt and become stronger or perish. Now lets see what she brings to us." Elara gave a nod of her head while she turned around speaking and clasping her hands behind her back. "Yes my master."

Scowling, Taeli watched as the speeder that had taken her into the Undercity departed. Taking in her surroundings, she could clearly see why this place had earned the name the Pits. She could feel the dark side festering here; being fed by the desperation, violence, greed, fear, and all other sorts of powerful unbridled emotions of the denizens that struggled to make a living in this hell hole whilst being hunted by Sithspawn, swoop gangs, and other vile pieces of sentient life forms. Taking it all in, Taeli started walking cautiously but allowing the dark side energies here to fill her very being.

"Find me something worthy of becoming part of my talisman," she whispered to the bird-like familiar on her shoulder. It gave a screech and took off, soaring away, but leaving a trail of its energy for her to follow its whereabouts.

She continued down the path, avoiding some spider-like Sithspawn that were scuttling towards a corner where two thrashing cocoons were being hauled into a web. Two street urchins brushed past her, hoping to steal something from the better dressed female in their midst, but she grabbed both boys and broke their wrists. Deciding they needed a further lesson, she threw one boy into a shadowy alley. Immediately, he started screaming as she could hear something attacking him.

"Best go help your friend, sounds like he needs it," she said coldly to the other boy as she moved on, leaving him to either choose his own survival or fight. Either would make him stronger in a way, an important lesson that a Sith could impart.

"Pretty blade you got there, pity if something happened to ya," a gruff Rodian said in guttural Basic as she turned a corner.

"Hand it over, and you won't be cut into bits for the spawn to munch on," a Quarren missing most of his face tentacles grunted.

"Out of my way," Taeli hissed, her annoyance spiking as the familiar had located something and was letting her know by increasing her tie to it and the dark side.

"Not a chance, boys, take her blade, leave the body," the Rodian said, and suddenly more aliens; another Rodian, two Klatooinians, and to her surprise, a Wookiee that had burn scars on his fur and manacle markings on his wrists.

"Enough of this!" Taeli yelled, unleashing the Force by gripping the Rodian ringleader and hoisting him into the air. The other aliens back up quickly from her.

The Wookiee gave a roar, and the Rodian looked at her with fearful eyes as he gasped out, "You're a Force-y?!"

"How perceptive of you," Taeli whispered, closing her fist and strangling the Rodian to death.

"Brother!" the other Rodian shouted, charging at her in grief, but she merely smashed his brother's body into him and drew her blade. The others, losing their indecisiveness, moved to attack her too, drawing a random assortment of blades, but the Quarren drew a blaster, sealing his death.

"None of that," Taeli said, spraying her free hand wide and unleashing the small amount of Force Lightning she could use on the Quarren. She smiled cruelly as he jerked and twitched in agony, but the Wookiee charged towards her next, swinging a huge piece of scrap metal sharpened into a sword. She merely turned her attention to the Wookiee, her lightning lancing across its mighty frame and blasting it backwards. She could feel her hand burning, but she embraced the pain, using it to strengthen herself and unleash more power as the other Rodian swung his blade towards her along with his two canine companions.

Using the Force, she slowed all three blades long enough to dodge out of the way, stopping her lightning attack as the Wookiee fell to the ground still twitching. Catching the Rodian's blade along hers, she twisted them fast so his spun out of his grip and she ran him through. Pushing him off her blade, she Force Pushed one Klatooinian over the guard rail of the walkway and sent him plummeting several stories while she blocked one blow from the other, then another, and another, using a refined technique reserved for fencing foils.

"Die, you witch!" the canine alien barked, slashing wildly.

"Haphazard and sloppy," she commented with a cold detachment. Mother did always tell her that she could be cold and calculating when the moment suited her during a blade fight. Tiring of toying with this dog, she kicked him in the stomach then slashed her blade across his throat as she spun away.

Looking at the pile of bodies around her, a small part of herself recoiled at the killing she had just done, but the majority was reveling in the power she had over these beings now. The Quarren was still barely breathing as she moved over to where he looked at her, unbridled fear in his eyes.

"Any last words?" she asked, in a falsely sweet voice.

"Leviathan," he gasped out, prompting her to swiftly turn around to face the wipe open maw of an adolescent Leviathan, the familiar Darth Praelior gave her hovering above it.

"Bother it all," Taeli muttered as the Sithspawn roared.

Elara had moved off to the side, one could only stand at attention for so long and taking it all in her master was hard at work focusing. The energies around the room pooling while outside the window she could see Glitter standing tall the massive barrel chest of the leviathan. She could see the window open whiles a portion of its head came that she could see and Balaya moved running a hand along the finger of the beast when it put it in the room. It was made for destruction but the leviathan was powerful while she was enjoying herself. The apprentice remembering her kill as the thought about what Taeli might find down there where they had let things loose. Balaya she could see in the distance while the sounds of more sithspawn were heard.

Backing up swiftly, Taeli took in the terrifying Sithspawn. She had no idea how it had snuck up on her, but she knew her usage of the dark side had called it towards this spot. It was only then that the screams and cries of the victims of the beast in front of her assaulted her mind, making her cry out and collapse to her knees.

Through her pain-filled eyes, she could see the Quarren struggling and yelling as the Leviathan's tentacles wrapped around him and drew towards a fully developed blister trap on the creature's back. Dotted around it were several smaller blister traps that were only just starting to grow, but the monster's massive mouth was already full of sharp teeth and the tentacles on it were fully developed. She could only watch in terrified fascination as the creature fed the Quarren into its blister trap, the alien letting out a final scream as he was sucked into it.

The Leviathan turned its blood red eyes towards her and began lumbering quickly towards her, and she knew she had to act fast or she would suffer the same fate. Blocking the screaming in her head as best she could, she summoned the fallen blaster pistol on the walkway and began firing blaster bolts at the creature. A tentacle knocked the blaster out of her hand and wrapped around her arm, another wrapping around her waist as the blaster bolts did nothing to the creature except anger it more.

"No! I won't die here!" Taeli screamed, panic and rage bursting out and letting out a wave of Force energy that knocked the beast back a bit, but she was still lifted into the air and drawn towards the blister trap. Her eyes blazed yellow for a moment as she let the dark side fill her completely, letting a flow of lightning erupt from her hands, and the creature dropped as it recoiled from the lightning.

Knowing she had to survive and drawing even more on the power, she kept the lightning flowing from her finger tips. The Leviathan opened its maw wider, releasing a jet of flame that she was forced to dodge, but she wasn't fast enough to avoid feeling the flames sear the skin along her right arm. Screaming, but drawing on her pain, she ramped up the intensity of the lightning, not caring that her hands were burning now as well.

"Blind it!" she screamed, commanding the familiar to attack the creature's eyes as she forced it back a step, then another with her lightning attacks. The familiar, heeding her command, swooped down and pecked out each eye of the monster, causing it to roar and smash its face into the pedway. Seeing her chance, Taeli stopped her lightning and raced forward with her beskade, slamming it repeatedly into the creature's neck.

A tentacle lanced out, slicing cleanly across her side, leaving a long and deep wound, but she retaliated by slicing through the offending tentacle and going back to beheading the beast. More tentacles attacked her, but she only paid them enough heed to slice them to pieces, her inner Mandalorian psychopath taking hold as she focused completely on one task: kill.

It was only after no more attacks came and her blade her severed the final piece of skin on the neck that she snapped out of her rage, dropping the iron saber and feeling the full effects of her wounds now. Her arms and torso were covered in the beast's blood, but she didn't even bother trying to clean herself. Wincing in pain, she clambered onto the creature's back as the familiar let out a call next to one of the small blister traps. Looking at it, she could feel the dark side guiding her to carve it out. Summoning her saber back to her hand, she began her task, thinking about how she didn't feel tired right now as the dark side continued to course through her.

Elara looked now while the sounds came, her master was creating another familiar and sending it off to find her apprentice. Not because she might be dead but Elara could feel it, something exciting had happened and there was a tingle in the air almost as the girl stood there to the side. Her body slightly twitching with the excitement as they stayed in the room and she used her familiar to link to her master, the hawk like creature with a boney chest showing golden eyes as she waited to hear the news. Taeli was proving better if her masters interest was this peaked.

Sliding off the creature's back, the blister trap in her bloodied hand, Taeli groaned as her injuries started to pain her more. Her hands in particular hurt from both gripping the blade for so long and the lightning that had been coursing through them. She could still feel the dark side in her, strengthening her and giving her the stamina she needed. Sensing a twinge in the dark side, she looked up to see boney-chest familiar with gold eyes looking down at her. Her master's presence flowed from it, and she knew just from the way it was looking at her with those golden eyes, her master was interested.

"Time to find a ride back," she muttered to herself, placing the blister trap carefully into a small satchel that she took off the body of one of the Rodians. "My thanks for the bag," she said, calling the familiar her master gave to her shoulder and she began moving back towards a speeder area, wincing as pain shot through her body.

Elara watched as her master was somewhat clapping to herself now. She couldn't tell what her master was finding amusing but she was guessing Taeli had done something worthy of truly being her apprentice... That boded well enough the struggle, the victory over her in the end would be that much sweeter when the time came. She wouldn't waste effort, she wouldn't use ships just achieving victory through superior power instead of marshal forces. Wthout the struggle or showing of your own power a victory would be meaningless. She would have to make sure it was public while sitting back and looking on at her armor's tactical pad. All in good time while she started going through security cameras.

Taeli limped towards the main speeder pad hub, but she could sense her injured status was drawing more attention from both the Sithspawn around the area and the criminals. Two of the spider spawn scuttled towards her, but she used the Force to blast them backwards. More of the spiders started to swarm out of the nest, and she kept blasting them back but they were getting closer and closer. One spider shot a string of web towards her, and only by using the Force did she dodge the gooey substance. Her eyes blazed yellow as her anger bubbled at the same time her injuries flared with pain. Opening her mouth, Taeli let loose an instinctive scream that shredded the spiders with Force energy.

Blinking for a moment, and swaying from exhaustion, she continued on to the speeder pad. Three speeders were parked there, and what looked like a drug deal was going down between some gang members. Not even bothering to announce her presence, she reached out with the Force and wrapped it around their throats, lifting them into the air. Thrusting her hands out, she sent each criminal screaming over the ledge while she moved towards one speeder she liked. Getting inside, and not bothered by the fact she was bleeding onto the nerf leather upholstery, she took off towards the palace where her master was most likely waiting in eager anticipation

Elara could feel it now while she was reaching out, her rival had been working and was returning as the air changed a little. Sharged almost with something that might be their confrontation in the end. She wondered what their master would have them do as she watched the large woman standing there and they were on the move, her familiar returning to her hand and the news of what was coming back. They were going down into the palace, towards the ground floor and the basement area leaving directins for Taeli to join them as Elara looked upon what her master was working on. There were some of the captured Asherians from their world along with several others. Suits of armor that looked like fully armored knights stood tall and ready as Elara took her position on one side. The space elf on the table not making a sound as IV's were pumping the drugs into their systems.

Taeli felt herself almost pass out twice while flying, but she was able to reach the palace by using the Force to staunch the bleeding from her side wound. Walking into the palace, a servant of Darth Praelior scuttled towards her.

"The mistress would like for you to come to the basement, if you would follow me," the servant muttered, not looking her in the eye.

"Lead the way," Taeli ordered. Following the servant deep into the palace, she shivered a bit from exhaustion and the sheer power she could feel radiating from their destination. Reaching the door, she dismissed the servant and stepped into the room. Her eyes immediately caught sight of Elara, and her lip curled as she made her way to Darth Praelior and knelt before the large Zeltron.

"I've returned, Master, and I come baring this," she said, removing the small blister trap she had removed from the Leviathan and placing it front of her.

Elara heard the sounds and looked at what came through the doors... the apprentice Taeli and she was hurt. Elara didn't see a prize with her like a leviathan's head which let her give a small snort of approval.. She couldn't compete and then she saw it. A blister pod that was presented to her master and the lord spoke. "Elara send a team out to get the leviathan... assuming it is dead we will have plenty of materials to fashion something for Taeli and if it is alive and bleeding make sure it has food to heal." Elara gave a nod of her head as she moved off putting in the commands of it all before she came back seeing her master still working at the forge. She was wondering what was being made now as her master came away with some metal boiling almost and white hot. Then she was pouring it into a mold and speaking as the small alchemists dagger came into view. "You have done well my apprentice and for that will be rewarded."

"Oh, the beast is quite dead, master," Taeli muttered. "And I thank you for the praise master." She looked at her rival and flashed her a smug smile. The young girl had assumed she would fail she guessed, but here Taeli knelt, a great prize in hand and still alive.

"What exactly are you working on, master?" she asked, lifting her head a bit to watch the Zeltron work at the forge

Elara looked at Taeli as her master spoke coming from there she was also prepared to help and dress wounds. It would do no good to have an apprentice who was of use to bleed out. She looked to her master who motioned with a hand to go and help Taeli at least not bleed on the floor. "I am making an amulet for you as a reward and one for myself, awhile back I found a powerful crystal and wearing it will be an improvement. For you though it will allow for focusing the darkside of the force into your body."
