Private Late Night Heist

Denon/Seven Corners-district
Late evening/Light rain

ICkDQPs.jpg

It was a dark and stormy night. In Xan's experience, that's how the most pathetic stories started. Luckily, there were exceptions. This was definitely going to be one of them. Walking through the streets of Denon, Xan read through the details on her datapad. They had to sneak into a Corpo facility, break the designs, steal the original ones for some extra pocket money, then get out of there. Hopefully there was a prototype they could hijack for some extra fun, though she wasn't going to bank on it. At least stealing a speeder wouldn't be that hard. What was going to be hard, though, was the fact that she needed to take a few extra people with her. With jobs as dangerous as this, she preferred to work alone, but she knew that she was going to need the extra help. She could only hope that the people helping her would be able to pull their own weight.

She reached a little stall in Baker's Row, buying herself a burger before moving on towards the target building. She found a nice little cafe where she sat down on one of the outside benches, enjoying her delicious burger and the fresh bun that embraced it. As she ate, she pinged the location to her two companions. She hadn't had much of a chance to look into their personal details. And at this point it was a bit too late to worry about that now. She gave them the benefit of the doubt, trusting that the top dogs would send capable people for this job.

Sitting back, she enjoyed her burger and waited patiently for her companions to arrive. She was in no particular rush. At this time, the only people at the facility would be security, maybe some sad idiots who didn't have a life. And the later it got, the more fatigued the guards might be. All in all, this was looking like it was going to be one hell of a joyride.

Rook slunk down the streets- keeping her head low and hair down. Though most of the jobs she did needed her to be inconspicuous, the scars across one side of her face severely limited that talent. Her poncho covered anything else that could be considered different- so now she fits in with every civilian. There was a lot of difference nonetheless between her and everyone else. She clutched her trusty datapad in one arm- the front of it looking innocently like today's news. This was not the case. Currently, her datapad was hacking into the security system, so all of the camera's throughout this level, she had access to.

Not just that, her cybernetics that sat above the scars were connected to her datapad allowing her to see double time. She could both see what was happening three blocks ahead, and the minute details of what was in front of her face. This is how she tended to work when she had a job to do- especially if she was hired by another. Since this was the case, Rook had made it her business to follow her companions through the footage.

It appeared that one of them was sitting to a burger on a bench outside of the target building. Rook had yet to find the other. Yes- there was no rush to do anything. They could wait and play it safe, for now. Cause things usually don't go that way when I'm involved.

Rook smiled at the thought- yes, things got hectic, to say the least. But she wasn't dead yet- though that was mostly due to the prolonged time she spent in Cystosis. Otherwise, she would be dead. Long dead actually. While turned one of the corners that lead up to the cafe- Rook pulled up the file of her companions, set on leaning anything and everything about those two.

The weather this night had called for a simple rain poncho in black to cover her slim-fitting, lightweight and dark armor. The small drops of rain gently hit her hood, pulled up not only because of the rain but to avoid recognition when she now closed in on the target building.

A mission was ahead of her. A mission on what now felt like home turf - Denon, which also was the base of operations for Darkwire. It competed with Scintilla and its capital Eve for the first place. It was funny if you thought about it; being a girl that never realy knew what a home was, she now had two. Fortunately, the two organisations was on a good standing with each other. It would have been awkward, otherwise. She would hate to take sides now when she was beginning to know the folks inside them. The names she would run with tonight was new ones, though. Some of the older girls of Darkwire. To tell the truth she was a bit nervous. Coming from a lone spacer lifestyle, it was just natural.

Brie picked up a tube of liquid rations from under the poncho and took a sip out of it, while walking down the wet street.

Magneta, they had said. That hair color would be simple enough to pick out of a crowd, she thought. Just as she rounded a corner and her gaze was attracted by the local café signs, she saw a woman busy with a hamburger that matched the description well. She stood out and the place and time was right, so it must have been her. Brie took a last sip out of the tube and put it in a nearby trash container, before she approached the woman. She looked... special.

''What a night... You must be... Xan?'' she asked slightly reserved, but trying to find the right words for a sensible introduction.

Xan was just about done with her burger when a kid approached her, wearing a poncho. She Gave her a sidelong glance but didn't say anything as she took another bite from her burger. The girl then spoke up, asking for her name. She finally turned to face the girl and wiped off her lips. "The one and only. Who might you be?" she asked her, slipping a hand underneath her jacket to wrap around the grip of her pistol. She doubted that the girl was here to attack her, but she couldn't be too careful.

Her suspicions were getting to her, though. Was this one of the people who was going to help her? She wasn't used to the amount of kids that were working for Darkwire. First Cartri and his buddy, now this girl too? Not to mention that the cat girl from her meeting with CorpSec the other day. It wasn't something she was comfortable with. But then again, on a planet like this where poverty was a big issue, it probably couldn't be helped. As long as they could pull their own weight. "Night's the best time to be out on this planet, if you ask me. What can I do for you, kid?" she asked her calmly before popping the last bit of burger into her mouth.

Getting up, she slipped her mask back on. The holographic mouth came to life, synchronizing with her mouth's movements. Glancing around, she tried to look for their other companion. "We're missing our third friend, it seems. You got any idea where they are?" she asked the girl as she adjusted her cap and slid her hands into her jacket pockets. She wasn't in any rush, but she also wasn't going to wait all night for the last part of their trio. She really wished the top dogs included some numbers in case of situations like this...

Rook finally located the second character as she talked to the first. That would leave her the only one left- and she didn't want to be behind. So she quickened her pace and made it to the cafe. She was still interfaced with the System and could see all of them from several angles; Her cybernetics made it work though.

She came to the place where she knew them to be. The one called Xan had finished her burger and had replaced her holographic mouth, which Rook knew to be her signate look. Brie was there and Rook heard Xan ask if she knew where Rook was.

She came upon them openly, "Ready?" Rook asked shortly, she wasn't much of a talker and would much rather complete the mission in silence.

''I'm with Darkwire...'' she responded quickly, as she saw the older girl sliding her hand into her jacket, probably reaching for a gun or something. Brie slowly felt for her own under the poncho, her young heart starting to beat a little faster. One could never be to careful around here, that much was true. She would have noticed the move even if she had not been taught to be careful by Darkwire and the Agent's, one of the traits that came from years running on her own. ''... and... the name's Brie.''

An inner sigh of relief left Brie as it seemed to dawn with the woman that they were on the same team. Glad to avoid a fight that she probably would have lost, her fingers slipped off the grip of the blaster that she had reached for. She had been forced into one not that long ago, and it had landed her in a pretty good position hence losing that fight, but she was not eager to take another chance at it. She might not have been a gunslinger, but she had her ingenuitive ways, a hard to knock down determination and young agility. That had got her this far, and nothing said it couldn't take her further, at least with a little help.

''Third?'' she repeated, thinking back on the mission briefing and visualised it briefly. ''Would three be enough...?''

It was not like she was worried or anything, but... Yeah, that but and if suddenly stuck to her. She didn't want the other woman to think that she was some sort of scaredy-cat, either.

"Ready?"

The third female voice joined their conversation from behind, and Brie turned her head to get the face of whom it came from.

''Ready as can be.'' she confirmed and gave the third woman a greeting nod.

The young girl seemed nervous as hell behind her calm and collected facade, but Xan didn't push it. She introduced herself as Brie and her mask curled into a smirk as she looked at her. "Well then, nice to meet you, Brie." she quipped. The girl asked about a third and her concerns but Xan waved her off. "Three should be more than enough if you can handle yourself." she answered as she glanced around. A voice spoke up behind them and Xan turned to look at the stranger.

She seemed to look the part of their little crew, that much was certain. "And who might you be?" she asked her casually, resting a hand on her hip. With pleasantries out of the way, she signalled for them to follow. "Come on, kiddies! Let's get moving." she quipped calmly as she led the way towards the back of the facility. Once they got near it, she peaked around a corner to get a look of the area. "Anyone of you able to get into their security footage? Would help a ton with getting around prying eyes." she asked them, glancing at Rook. Relaxing against a wall, she waited patiently for someone to give her an answer. "So... tell me about yourselves." she spoke up with a shrug.

She looked at Brie as her holographic mask curled into a smile. "How old are ya, kid? Also, what are you good with?" she asked the kid as she studied her.

"And who might you be?"

"Rook" Was what she offered shortly.

"Come on, kiddies! Let's get moving."
Xan quipped lightly, and they started to make their way to the facility. Rook was glad that there was silence as they arrived. Xan peeked around the corner then asked
"Anyone of you able to get into their security footage? Would help a ton with getting around prying eyes."

Rook dipped her head slightly, datapad hanging by her side. She was still interfaced with the system so she was already watched it, "I'm watching the footage as we speak"

Half of her vision was inside already and she turned most of her attention to the screen. Letting the others talk.

The masked older girl probably had her doubts about that she could handle herself. She could understand that. The girl was older but also looked like she was from Nar Shaddaa, or maybe Coruscant. A city girl that might have had more experience of the underworld than she had, but she had also gone through quite alot, only different challenges and mishaps. Also, running with Darkwire and the Agent's had taught her things to at least be counted as a gun. Experience was what she needed.

The trio quietly made their way through the dark and rainy night, towards their target; the facility. Brie made sure to stay close and keep her eyes keen and her ears perked. She was not to just be pulled along. No, she could handle this and wanted to show the magneta haired girl. They made a halt just before a corner, and Brie stayed close to the wall, beside the leading girl.

''Seventeen.'' she answered plainly, as if it was a perfectly good age to be sneaking around the Seven Corner's district at night. Though, a tiny bit of uncertainity might have left her as well.

''I'm... good at... uhm, mechanics... getting in and out of tight places... I can pilot and... I can handle a blaster on my own.'' she said, having to think about the things she considered herself to be good at. It was hard, bacause she was not used to estimate her own skills and present them to a stranger. She finished with a touch of young defiance in her blue gaze, just to explicate that she could, in answer to the older girls earlier statement of three people being enough, if you could handle your own. Rook begun to survey the area through the security cameras. There was no turning back now.

Xan blinked in surprise as Rook casually mentioned that she was already in their camera systems. She looked her over for a moment before shrugging with a smirk. "That should teach them to start using CCTV." she quipped with a chuckle as she glanced around. "Check for any openings or blind spots. Any places we can drop on in." she suggested as she peeked around the corner again. Relaxing against the wall, her focus was turned back to Brie who gave a little info on herself.

Xan listened intently, raising an eyebrow at the mention of her skills. "Tight places can come in handy on this." she commented as she looked back to Rook. "You see any snug spots, feel free to pipe up." she quipped before looking back to Brie. Her golden eyes looked her over for a few seconds before she spoke up again. "What are you doing here, kid?" she asked out of the blue with a shrug. Though before the conversation could go any further, some disturbance would give them the break they needed. Over on the other side of the building, a drunk group of teenagers were making a fuss with the guards. The others around the back of the building were called to assist and quickly set off, leaving the cameras as the only obstacles for the trio. Xan peeked around the corner again when the shouting reached her ears. Glancing back at the other two, she flashed them a wink. "Let's move." she muttered as she got ready to scoot.

"Rook, you see any proximity sensors or anything like that? Anything we need to be on the lookout for?" she asked the woman as she slowed to walk beside her. She was likely going to work hard on becoming this lady's new best friend. With the ability to just slice into systems like she could, Xan could easily think of several spots where she would have helped a ton. "Say... what else can you do? Apart from slicing into camera systems?" she asked, trying to hide her pure curiosity in her voice.

They didn't have much time, though. Voices echoed along the walls as the security guards were returning to their posts. If they didn't find a spot to hide or get break into the facility, things might got south for them very quickly...

Rook nodded as she watched the place- then she grinned. There WAS an entrance. Not a preferable one. But she was quite fine with it. There was actually a way to get it. She kept silent though, making sure that it would get them to where they need to go. It would.

"You see any snug spots, feel free to pipe up."
Xan said, looking towards her for a second. Rook once again nodded as she watched the screens.

For a few seconds, Rook was part of the system entirely, then she blinked as she came back. The way they were going would have pipes and divots surrounding each wall. Yes- they had plenty of cover there. She looked to the younger woman as she spoke.

"Rook, you see any proximity sensors or anything like that? Anything we need to be on the lookout for?"

Rook nodded, swiping across camera screens, "If you see anything flashing- don't touch it." She offered dryly.

"Say... what else can you do? Apart from slicing into camera systems?"
Xan asked her. Rook could hear the curiosity in the kids voice. Yes- Xan was probably in her mid-twenties, but Rook was older and therefore held the right to call her kid.

"I do close combat," Rook said absentmindedly as she send different alerts to different parts of the system, "I'm a pilot and also a doctor."

Before and or if she was going to ask more questions, Rook interrupted, "I hope you both aren't afraid of swimming- because I've found the best way in."

Rook couldn't help grinning at the prospect. She took the front of the group and rounded the corner, coming out into the courtyard like thing. She had replaced the footage with still repeats so they wouldn't see anything else. Trusting that the others were behind her, she stayed to the shadows before slipping around the side of the large building.

Moving swiftly, she took a large vibroblade from somewhere underneath her poncho and knelt down near the edge of the building. There was a manhole there, but instead of the usual sewage, it was excess Bacta.

She tried to not think about whether it was already used or not. Bloody bacta would NOT make her day.

Using her knife to pry the edges loose she used her head to gesture to the girls,
"Give me a hand with this."

What kind of question was that? She was doing what they were doing! Did she look that out of place? Did the older girl ask this because she cared or simply was just rude?

''Wha- what kind of question is that? The same as you, guys! I'm working...!'' she uttered, frowning right back at the older girl, slightly annoyed of her seeming disbelief in her. ''Or, at least I try to...'' Brie continued, lowering her voice some and looked down at Rook who was on the computer. The oldest of the trio did not seem to care much about the odd constellation, concentrating on her work.

"I hope you both aren't afraid of swimming- because I've found the best way in."

Swimming was fine. Yeah, even though she was a salvager and had spent most of her young life aboard her ship, she had taken care of picking that skill up whenever she got a chance to visiting a world with safe and clear lakes. But what if-? There was no time for questions as Rook took off and Brie followed close behind. Brie threw the blaster carbine onto her back and knelt down to help Rook with the lid.

''What is it?'' she asked curiously while looking down the opening. It was dark down there, but the flow of some liquid could be heard.
