SETTING INFORMATION
  • Spaceport Name: LaSal Intergalactic Starport
  • Location: Fondor, Starshine District
  • Affiliation: Fondor Guild of Starshipwrights
  • Classification: Galaxy Class
  • Population: Heavily Staffed
  • Accessibility: The LaSal Intergalactic Starport is fairly easy to access; the biggest problem a traveler on the planet will encounter is simply the means of transportation
  • Traffic: Congested
  • Description: The gleaming gate into Fondor, the LaSal Intergalactic Starport is perhaps one of the more 'shiny' buildings in Fondor's otherwise heavily-industrial skyline. Often abbreviated to the LSIS, or referred to as the LaSal, the starport functions as the planet's primary civilian terminal, available to service a wide range of ships both parked and in orbit of the planet itself. The LaSal features both private docking bays for travelers with their own starships and areas for passengers to board starliners to head to the destination, wherever it may be.

The LaSal is funded for and administrated by the Fondor Guild of Starshipwrights, effectively making the LaSal a public facility that is free from any kind of direct corporate influence, something that is rare for high-profile buildings on Fondor. On a more day-to-day basis, the starport is run by the LaSal Intergalactic Starport Authority, which handles both security and administration of the starport's various features, including the large control tower that directs civilian ship navigation of, on practice, most ships entering or leaving Fondor space.

Being a Galactic-class starport, the LaSal offers a wide range of amenities and services for both starliners and independent ship owners. Ample docking bay space, including both public and private options that differ in security and cost, include enough room for ships up to the size of a standard cruiser to dock comfortably planetside, although larger accommodations normally cost higher rates than smaller freighters and rigs. Orbital stations are also present for ships that are unable to enter the atmosphere or are too large to dock at the LaSal's planetside docking bays. These stations sit in low orbit, and offer direct shuttle service to and from the starport itself free of any sort of front-up charge, although the cost of the shuttle transportation actually does exist, but is merely added into the docking fees for the LaSal's orbital stations.

The LaSal also has many different repair facilities and is able to directly transfer a ship in need of a mechanic to one of the many shipwrights that operate on a planet's surface. The selection of shipwrights are as non-biased as possible, as otherwise, a rather crafty businessman could make money without having to actually advertise his business; availability of shipyard space, a company's merit and reputation with the Guild (including whether or not the company in question is a Member) and whether the company was the primary manufacturer of the ship in question are just some of the numerous criteria considered.

Outside of its repair facilities, a number of different services are available for travelers, merchants and businessmen alike at the LaSal. Most companies have some sort of representation directly at the starport for quick business, whether it be a single droid secretary or expansive office space. Restrooms, restaurants, and sitting areas line the terminals providing travels with some quick, cheap and tasty eating options while on-the-go; the LaSal also features an exclusive Brayde Brewing and Distillery store, stocked with the latest beverages from the Fondor-headquartered company.
