• Escape Pod: The cockpit section of the craft is fully detatchable and carried with it the necessary systems and supplies to maintain crew and passengers up to two weeks.

• Spartan Comforts: The Lambda-class Shuttle was designed with the comfort of the individuals inside as a prime concern. While still being a military craft and thus austere in shape and decorum, it is spacious with storage rooms being capable of being converted into private rooms for officers or other important individuals for long journeys.
• Flying Fortress: For a shuttle the Lambda-class is bristling with guns. It is fully capable of defending itself and blowing fighters to smithereens if they're stupid enough to get into the Lambda's firing arc.

• Prime Target: These ships are almost exclusively assigned to high ranking individuals of the Empire. This simple fact, and their familiar design, makes them obvious targets to pick out of a crowd of other craft.
• Expensive to Maintain: The advanced systems of the Lambda mean it requires a dedicated repair hangar to properly fix any extensive damage.

While most members of the Imperial military are assigned sub-standard gear, the officers and other more important individuals are usually lavished with far better treatment. The Lambda-class Shuttle is a symbol of this systen, making a larger, more intimidating, more comfortable ship for those whose station demands it. All the extra systems on the Lambda are to assure that one individual's survival. From the massive amount of guns to deter attackers, to the layered shields and durable hull, to the fact these vessels are rarely far away without an escort of much larger vessels, all tie in to both keep the individual alive while also cementing their importance in the Imperial hierarchy.
