SPECIES: Devoratrix

AGE: 752

HEIGHT: 6' 1"

WEIGHT: 189 lbs

EYES: Glowing Green

HAIR: Black

SKIN: Red

FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

VOICE: Jennifer Hale (Commander Shepard)

STRENGTHS
  • + Instinct: Battle Precognition - Similar to the Echani battle sense of anticipating the movement's of the enemy, and the flow of battle.
  • + Magick: Genetic Blending - A slow spell that has allowed Lahmia over centuries to modify almost every facet of her body (except having bright, green eyes) by incorporating the genetic code of other lifeforms into herself. Though such modification has not been without its costs, and is an incredibly painful process that can at times have unexpected results. It took her a century to regain a more humanoid appearance once again.
  • + Force: Dopplegänger - Able to create multiple copies of an individual (including herself) or object. The copies are detectable by organic and synthetic sensory systems alike, and telekinesis can feign lifting and carrying something. Only active as long as Lahmia is conscious.
  • + Outsider Knowledge - Having passed Beyond the Rim and discovered another civilization, the Winter's Kiss returned with knowledge and technology not see within the Galaxy. However, such knowledge is not without cost. Whether any will ever know what is aboard Lahmia's vessel only time will tell.
  • + Energy Vampire - Able to drain the life force of others as her main source of sustaining her own life.
    Enhanced Strength
  • Enhanced Speed
  • Accelerated Senses
  • Cellular Regeneration - Sufficiently fed Lahmia can heal wounds, resist toxins or poisons, and has managed to live far beyond her original Human lifespan.

[*]+ Ambidextrous - Able to use both left and right hands with essentially the same measure of control. The prehensile tail is also capable of fine motor control, but not so fine you'd see Lahmia writing with it.
WEAKNESSES
  • - Energy Vampire - Draining energy from victims is Lahmia's primary means of sustenance. Food and drink are palatable, but not necessary to remain alive. While able to forestall feeding for prolonged periods of time, the temptation remains. In order to extract the life force of those targeted, she must bite them -- even a nip can provide a 'taste.'
  • - Outsider Pact - The knowledge and technology from Beyond the Rim cannot be given to those within the Galaxy. It was an arrangement made before the Winter's Kiss left the Beyond. Violation of the pact would risk an invasion by the war-bound Outsiders that are otherwise content to remain in their corner of the universe.
  • - Irreverent - So, you lead an Empire that spans multiple sectors with aspirations of godhood... You expect me to bow?
  • - Berserker - Lahmia spent centuries in close quarters and hand-to-hand combat. It literally became part of her DNA to fight tooth and nail without restraint.
  • - Infertile - As a result of the generic blending she has been infertile for nearly 126 standard years.
  • - Tail Wear - Do you have any idea how much pants chafe when they aren't designed with tails in mind?
  • - Insomniac - Another long-term side effect of genetic meddling is Lahmia's inability to fall asleep. Even drugs only make her drowsy from her body's regenerative ability. Instead, she's resorted to using a magickal field in her chambers to induce the sleep necessary not to go mad from prolonged activity. Just because her body can sweep away the chemical build up sleep cleanses in most organics doesn't mean endless consciousness is wise.
  • - Flirt - You don't have to return her affection, but why shouldn't she express interest? Sometimes leading people on is about the only entertainment you could find.
APPEARANCE
Lahmia is just over six feet tall. She has a lean physique with firm muscle tone, which can easily deceive far thicker creatures into believing her physically weaker. Her black hair and red skin easily set her apart from most sapient creatures of the galaxy, with a pair of small horns set ahead of a pair of larger horns adoring the crown of her head. She might be mistaken by less discerning eyes for a Devaronian except for the horns and prehensile tail. Then there are the glowing, green rings of her eyes belying the deWinter heritage -- a facet of her existence that has changed in size and shape, but never in color despite her genetic dabbling.

Whether the contours of her alluring figure can be seen depends on what attire Lahmia has chosen that day to wear. Sometimes she can be found wearing something similar to a suit, while other times there'd be just enough to be passably decent by galactic standards. Of course, on the battlefield she'll sport armor to enjoy the rigors of war longer -- the best battle was one hard fought.

BIOGRAPHY
Endelaan
Lahmia Eirisse Rosalyn deWinter, granddaughter of Jonathan deWinter, brother of Shery deWinter, was born and raised among her own. There she was an ordinary, young woman. One of countless grandchildren of the Matriarch of their world. Not needing for shelter or finances, however, Lahmia grew up with her brothers and sisters and began learning to harness her power for the good of the family.

Not content to be a nameless, faceless child in a horde of offspring, however, Lahmia set upon a course to lay claim to a large vessel in service to her world. She proposed an idea to the military and her bloodline to venture out into the unknown -- go beyond the Rim. It was a dangerous idea. Perilous and with no expectation there would be anything out there but a long, dark void. Despite misgivings and dire portents, however, Lahmia did not relent. At the same time, there were those that began to foresee a great calamity in the galaxy's future; which it would later come to pass would scarcely affected Endelaan at all, but it was enough. The great-grandchild of the Matriarch was given the vessel, its crew, and leave to depart.

Beyond the Rim
It was as most feared. A great, vacuous void lay beyond the furthest star of the galaxy. Yet Lahmia had the vessel continue on its course with an unwavering resolve. Eventually some came to revolt, but she had won over the majority in high positions of the crew to weather the failed mutiny. Not long afterward the ship came upon a 'disturbance.' They began to study the ripple in space when it enveloped the ship.

When the crew came to, they found themselves under attack by an unknown force. By the skin of their teeth they survived and established contact with an unknown species. Despite their inability to communicate at first, they formed an alliance with the genetically diverse species to protect one another. As it turned out, wherever they had ended up was in a constant state of conflict.

As the years wore on, Lahmia, the crew, and their ship showed the rigors of the endless combat. Determined not to die out there a failure to her bloodline -- someone they would believe had foolishly ventured into a cold, empty death -- the deWinter blood set to work researching a way to bolster their ability to survive. Even more time had passed and fewer of her original crew remained by the time she came upon an answer.

Self Identity
Lahmia crafted a spell capable of extracting genetic material from another creature and blending it with her own. An incredibly painful process, it granted her attributes of the 'donor' -- sometimes with unexpected results, especially as more and more samples were absorbed. As it would turn out much later in life, fortunately a sample of her mostly-original genetic code had been preserved before too many blendings occurred.

What was originally seen as a means of survival quickly became an addiction. The fight for survival turned into one of domination -- crushing enemies in order to draw genetic samples. Even creatures she'd encountered before weren't spared as repeated exposures might bolster desired traits, or expose her to the lottery in the hopes of a particular, desired trait. Then others might be sought in order to suppress undesired traits from another species. It was an endless series of tweaks and changes.

With her pursuit of battle, Lahmia soon encountered a woman she to this day considers her First. They cleaved and slaughtered countless creatures together. But as time passed it became clear Lahmia's dabbling had only bought her time. Inevitably, she would pass as all others had before her. The beautifully vicious woman turned on her lover, which sparked a battle some later claimed raged an entire year. Whatever the truth so long ago, what was undisputed was Lahmia's emergence as the victor. She'd claimed the genetic code of an energy vampire; a creature whose influence has not faded despite the blendings that followed it.

Grieving, Lahmia descended into madness. One conquest after another were absorbed until nearly all sense of self and rational thought had fled. Until one day, on a planet in some unnamed system, she peered into a silver pool at her own reflection. A flicker of thought danced across the sheen -- one that she had lost something important. Not truly conscious of it, her efforts turned toward more Humanoid species in order to regain 'something.'

Dominance
It would be some time before Lahmia clawed her way back to more than a blood thirsty beast. However, as she did so, old and new allies alike flocked to her. A coordinated threat had finally emerged; a fiend that had begun to organize the rabble to lay claim to All. With her ravenous reputation as the Devourer of Souls had others seek her support in opposing such a plan. Naturally, she accepted.

And in the end, laid claim to a health portion of territory as a result. The pandemonium continued, of course, but whenever her ship, The Winter's Kiss, appeared there were as many fleeing the field as their were standing their ground hopeful to be the one that consumed her.

During this period her use of blending diminished significantly. More tactical choices were made; often inspired more by aesthetics than a need for brute force or impenetrable flesh. Another flicker of a life long thought lost had her aiming for a more 'regal' appearance. And so The Undying Queen was born. Her laughter ahead of slaughter was known by many in their lost region of creation.

Strange Tidings
Centuries had gone by and one night as Lahmia lay in bed, sleepless besides a slumber lover, her thoughts drifted to the genetic code in storage. It had been an age since she'd even thought of what she had once been. An age before she was even close enough genetically to ponder blending it -- if she'd tried sooner it likely would have been a wasted effort. After all, despite having Mastered the spell over the years, it was still an incredibly delicate procedure.

After some thought, however, she rose and retrieved what was perhaps her most precious possession. A truly irreplaceable part of herself or her history.

Years passed afterward, and Lahmia's experimentation with genetic blending had all but ended. Though the bloodshed would never end. While she reclined on her massive, plush throne on the bridge of The Winter's Kiss a sudden 'sense' came over her. One of Knowing. Someone or something was back in the Galaxy she'd come from. Perhaps there was purpose there. Perhaps she could find more toys to play with, and could bridge the gap between galaxies. With this wonderful idea in mind she set to the task of establishing one of her many daughters as regent in her absence. Not that being a Ruler meant the same thing in their anarchy, but someone had to make sure no one monster got too full of themselves.

At last, the Winter's Kiss set off for the strange disturbance that brought Lahmia there centuries ago. From there they would make for the Rim of the Galaxy, and to the many planets that lay beyond...
